I believe she actually came out as pansexual somewhat recently!
Niki and Gabi are infamous for not disclosing their sponsorships. This video is a clear example of Gabi hiding the fact that her casual little try on haul is in reality an ad for fashion nova
Yessss omg
lmao it's illegal to have a sponsored video and not disclose
It’s kind of funny years ago I used to watch her and she’d always be like if you’ve been watching me for a while you know my favorite brand is, Blank. It changed all the time. Because she was being sponsored. I really don’t like that just be real with me
those random fashion Nova items among the luxury ones seemed odd
How is she hiding it? It’s so obvious.
I love how luke needs to physically stop himself because he does not want to be mean, even though it’s probably true
gotta love his level of honesty 😂
just be mean
Yeah. I remember a few years ago he used to be meaner (and i loved that), now he's keeping it under control
@@malena__p. Nah, it's just more refined. You -know- when he's smacking someone with a soft silk glove. It's not the pain that counts, it's the gesture.
@@Killjoy_Mel "it's not the pain that counts, it's the gesture" 😭 🤣 I have to use this some how.
Gabi's "style" can be classified as completely clueless rich girl who thinks designer = style.
I thought so too, but I feel like her style has gotten so much better now
Thissss
Sometimes I’m just like wtf is she wearing
Very costumy and tacky looking imo
@@darikacarova8006 Still pretty bad but any upgrade is because she has a stylist now lol
"Valentino Rockstuds, always a classic in a wardrobe like this..." omg 💀💀💀
The classiest shade lol
I can just tell Luke is biting his tongue hard AF not to say anything rude and I’m here for it!!! We love a classy quiet queen
Nah I'd much rather see his sassy self! 😂 He knows when to go off and honestly it's refreshing to see someone criticise the rich & famous youtubers for their bad fash fashion(nova) habits
@@hmv5166 true
you should do a tier list about every closet tour videos that you've reacted to. 10000% gonna watch it
Yesyes dooo ittt
I second this
boost!!!!
Or a tier list of brands & designers 😍
Yes please!!
lmao love the classification of her as former "saturation youtuber" to now "light airy pink buying a lot of chanel desaturated youtuber"
This is why I love him how does he come up with these things
I inherited loads of silk scarves from my mom, after giving about a dozen away to her closest friends and family. She used to wear one, every day, to brighten her outfit; they were her trademark accessory. We all wear her scarves to honour her. I use them to tie back my hair as well as around my neck or shoulders; the large ones are great for warm days, when you're walking in and out of heavily air-conditioned spaces and don't want to drag around something heavier with you.
I love that ❤️
I work in a formal office setting and wear a lot of Hermes scarves too! Keeps my neck warm and adds fun color to a black dress :)
Question, do the oils from your hair stain the scarves? I use a lot of oil in my hair and I worry it would ruin it.
@E K It's lovely of you to take the time to reply, thank you. My mom was a fashion girl, as Luke would say. I'm sure she's happy her beloved scarves are still out, in the world, helping all the women she loved most look good.
@@courtneyr214 Thank you for taking the time to comment. Those scarves were so personal; sharing them with the women my mom loved most, in the world, meant a lot to both me and them.
i wouldn’t be surprised if she was sponsored by fashion nova but just didn’t disclose that it was an ad…she’s been known to do that and it’s probably why it feels so forced lol
Oh it was totally an ad and if it was a few years ago, it was probably less regulated
SHe was
Is anyone else annoyed by the bags by the window? One of the #1 leather rules, especially for patent leather, is to stuff them with tissue paper and keep them out of sunlight. Instead of using the boxes for decor it would be nice to see them protecting the bags!
I was cringing so hard thinking of all the money in buying them just to put them in the sun like that!
Her sister outed her for having fake stuff. She secretly shops at outlet malls & also buys great dupes. I found some myself on certain websites 😏 its the details most people don’t pay attention to.
@@ldwm what websites?
@@leanasia dhgate and repladies have good reps
I never understood people using cardboard boxes as 'decor'.
Silk scarves look cute when tied around the neck or in your hair! They give an old-timey vibe to an outfit. I inherited a bunch from my grandma and that's how I use them, anyway.
the editing in this video is gold and Luke trying to be nice every time he hears FASHIONNOVA is making me cackle. 😂😂
Since you asked...
Goods worthy of auction, like a house, carry title. A cloud on the title could render her purchase vulnerable to recission (mandatory return and refund). A cloud could arise where the property had been obtained improperly (eg conveyed to someone other than the named heir or outright stolen) at some earlier stage in the item's existence. Auction houses guard against this through insurance (eg Lloyd's of London, etc.) which is careful not to underwrite without a demonstration of due diligence. So, her certificate essentially not only affirms that the item is what it purports to be (ie authentic) but also that she is its undisputed owner (there are no stray heirs out there with viable claims that could be filed in court).
Thank you, that makes so much sense. At the beginning I thought it was in case of having to sell the item again.
But a sudden, undisclosed heir 💀
@@halffried5848 absolutely related to resale as well. If she doesn't have clear title, she'll either get less than it's worth or not find a buyer willing to assume the risk
Luke's little history lesson on how the Chanel tweed came to be is the reason I'm subscribed to this channel! He knows some of the smallest details about fashion, and it's so enjoyable to just learn about it from him!
I really enjoyed the little history lesson on the Chanel tweed - thank you Luke🥰❤️
I can’t wait till he roasts Chanel’s show for Paris Fashion week.
i mean that like clip could have been an entire video. like i wanna know more!!
I don’t know if it’s just me but the way she organized her closet was so inefficient for the space that she had, I feel like with as much money as she has she could definitely get somebody to personally organize her closet so that it looks way better.
Because right now we’re just looks messy- and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a closet looking like you actually wear the clothes and not like it’s just to be put on display but at the same time if you’re going to do a closet tour and you’re as rich as Gabi is you should at least put some effort into fixing everything up so there’s like crazy organization going on for no reason.
She recently moved to a different house her closet looks much better & cleaner!
@@jazleenluna I just watched that video! but honestly itt's still super messy and random placements of things. Her main closet is two small doors, and hidden space you can't access down behind the walls. Her shoes are spread out around her room in different cupboards and I am just surprised she doesn't have a nicer closet with all that money and renovations too.
@@Jesszicar true but she loves it and I think thats all that matters lol
I don't buy luxury brands, but vintage or local artists. Silk is lovely for your hair, especially curly hair, it helps to keep your curls together. I get so many compliments with a silk scarf in my hair, either wrapped around like a turban or tied to the side like a bow. My curls pop out the front and frame my face. It's also a great way to show off artwork 💖
I was going to say just that, silk scarves are great especially for all sorts of curly or even frizy hair, and they can be used the way old ladies used them: to protect your hairstyle from the weather, while giving you a fancy look. I hope to one day find a nice vintage silk scarf to keep, maybe a gucci flora.
Same! I use my scarves when I have dirty hair or don’t have time to comb my hair and people always love it… just combine it with big earrings and elevates any look
This is so old, you should react to her new one she just posted. *Edit* I'd also love to see you cringe at how damaged her luxury bags are in a video posted where she is packing them to move.
THAT VIDEO WAS AWFUL OH MY GOSH. i was crying
Another great closet tour Luke! British Vouge has a series called Inside the Wardrobe. Maybe you could do a reaction to some of those videos. I love the one with Camille Rowe. Check them out xx
The juxtaposition of this ‘million dollar’ closet made almost completely from Ikea Billy bookcases with one shelf facing backwards so you can see the chipboard is hilarious. Just what you’d expect your Manolos and Chanels to be displayed on.
(Not hating on the affordable furniture though, my house if full of it!)
the backwards shelf was driving me crazy!
My mother is a hijabi, she collects silk scarves and wears them as hijabs. her collection mainly consists of louis vuitton, chanel, & hermes with some gucci and burberry.
I wear silk scarves a lot as just a normal scarf. Great for windy fall/spring weather. They're pretty functional to keep you warm in the winter as long as it's not totally freezing. They also make nice headscarves/headbands/hair ties. They look very old lady chic when you wear it with a simple wool overcoat or a trench.
“i upgraded, there’s now a bed in my closet” is so funny to me, like, me too girl, it’s called my bedroom
LMAO SAME
God the way she stores her designer bag hurts me. This is another banger react!
btw people use those scarves or "twillies" as headbands too or they wrap it around their neck kinda like flight attendance aesthetic, but really mostly for protecting bag handles. tbh I hate them seeing them since the birkin and kelly already age you.
I have a few silk scarves and find they’re great for warmer northeast winter/ colder fall temps. They accessorize an outfit but aren’t as warm as a wool scarf
She just came out with a new closet tour a day ago. You should react to that as well!
I love Gabi but after seeing her bag collection video and how she stores them I do question if they’re all authentic
12:13 that’s a Birkin?!
Same except I'm questioning whether she might just not know any better.
I’ve seen posts on Instagram pointing out how some purses looked fake, and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them were.
I think many of them are, but she has said she also buys fake designer sometimes
@@fashionandfries wow I just noticed that! There’s no way that’s a real birkin displayed like that 😭 either she’s super rich and dgaf or it’s not authentic cause who would keep a 100k+ bag out like that
Omg there was this one video of hers where she dumped all her designer bags in a cardboard box without any protective covers around them or any shape holders within. 😭
Absolutely agree, people with excess funds should not be going to fast fashion. there's no need for it. while Luxury brands are bad with their ethics. cheaper FF brands are the ones whose clothes are being dumped after one wear by influencers.
As an older woman, I enjoy wearing silk scarves to camouflage my aging neck and also for more warmth 😊
Luke, to answer your question about silk scarves, my sister wears them to add a little something to conservative outfits. They can add a little color or style and can also be matched to another element of the outfit, thereby pulling it together. Plus, she thinks it looks chic and on her it does ‘cause she’s got a longer neck than average.
The best part of this was the Chanel history lesson - the more you know.
As for silk scarfs, I like the twillies for lazy hair days. I will use it like a head band. I had some beautiful silk scarfs in larger sizes and found I used them once a year or so as scarfs for an outfit but frankly a waste of money. I sold mine.
I have been loving your editing lately! I'm not sure if you do it personally or have an editor but either way it is has been great! Keep up the good work it's appreciated.
Just to answer the question: the candle really smells like fresh cut roses. truely lovely💛
Also, thank you for the entertainment - and education - as always!
As a good french, I never leave home without a scarf ^^ Silk is high end but I have lots of scarfs for my neck, super light for late spring or early fall all the way to the heavy wool ones for winter. My neck only sees the outside is hot summer. Just to explain the scarf thing ^^.
luke i would love to see a video about your opinions on the costumes in scream queens
That would be amazing
Re the silk scarf thing: I have one (I made it) and it’s great when I want to keep my neck warm but don’t want the bulk of a wool scarf. It tucks in to the top of my jacket really nice and cosy
I’ve been watching you for years and look forward to every video! Thank you for dedicating your time to creating content for us gals and guys who love fashion 💕
Re: scarves, I can’t stand anything high necked, thus if I am wearing a wool coat it can irritate the skin on my neck. A silk scarf looks lovely, protects the skin and doesn’t make me feel like I’m choking. It also adds a bold flash of color against a neutral coat.
I love silk scarves! They’re flair. I worked in the wine industry for decades and I had to have good accessories because my job took its toll on my clothes-I had both restaurant and retail accounts and I had to go from spending my mornings rebuilding displays to showing $500 Burgundies to Master Sommeliers, so a good scarf often made the difference between just wearing a T shirt and pants and an actual accessoried outfit (decent leather goods and lipstick didn’t hurt either-but it was hard to go from frazzled to pressed over the course of a typical day and those scarves were lifesavers).
I wore my 3, quite now vintage Hermès scarves, for pretty much every possible accessorizing purpose-neck, hair, bag (not just around the handle), belt of my pants, etc. When not in use, keep them in their boxes and tissues (gotta protect them from oxidation because silk gets crunchy), and I am super careful not to use them on filthy product laden hair or when I have makeup anywhere near my jaws or neck if I’m going to wear them around my neck. The oldest one (key pattern in pink) was purchased in 1991 on the Rue Faubourg location, the next oldest (blue discontinued knight print) was bought a few years later on Union Square in San Francisco and the newest one (for me) (Brown discontinued mushrooms) came from a Japanese eBay seller. They’re now pretty old but I take good care of them, never even dry cleaned, and they’re made of such sturdy silk twill they can really take a beating.
My Y2K era Moschino scarf was considerably less resilient-I finally had it cleaned & framed because I like the zodiac print and gave it to a friend who is really into astrology.
I also have a pile of knockoff nylon twillies I get off eBay for basically nothing. They’re for regular old bad hair days and such. But my good Hermès scarves are still going strong 30 years in, and I’m still rocking them, and I’d still like a couple more-at least one black and one yellow to round out the seasonal needs.
Hope this helps. I’m not even that bourgeoisie-or, just a regular working girl who was always told scarves were good investment pieces. Same with a few Tiffany silver pieces (not the juvenile hearts-the Roman numeral hoops and a few other things that kinda signal “she makes money” because that’s sales psychology personal presentation in a nutshell. Considering what they cost back in the day, I have definitely gotten my money’s worth, plus I actually like the scarves, both the quality of the twill and the patterns.
Once met an older lady who wore a silk scarf as an actual scarf w a blazer over a sundress and had a second scarf folded up like a handkerchief in the blazer pocket.
Is it just me, or does this closet seem a bit untidy? Everything just looks thrown on the shelves and hangers. I just want to reach into the screen and straighten it all out.
The only thing I love more than “7 days/7 looks”! CLOSET TOUR!!!!
Yessss
Luke's reaction to the empty Gucci box on the shelf at 15:07 is sending me 😂 so much was said and yet nothing came out of his mouth
Luke, I absolutely love your videos! You always make me laugh & smile while also teaching me so much about fashion. I’m a plus size girl who loves clothes and putting together outfits and I’d love to see some content from you for us plus size girly pops. Loooove you!!
I like to use my silk scarf as a head wrap when I don’t feel like doing my hair (in fair weather, or on a windy day like a cuter beanie), or to accessorize and add color to an outfit!
I have a silk Salvatore Ferragamo scarf (square) that my grandmother gave me and I use it as a headscarf. I’ll tie it under my hair and its soooo cottagecore-esque cute vibes. I wear it quite a lot!
Thanks for always giving us the content we need!! 💛
I do buy designer silks, and wear them as a scarf.. find silk more comfortable and a nice print can be a nice pop (for an otherwise basic outfit)
Literally stopped the video and looked up the Chanel Scotland show to watch next! I'm so excited!
i'd loooove to see you review one of violet chachki's closet tours - she has one with her shoes and one with her corsets
I do like these closet tours. Just as interesting as the contents themselves is the way the are treated and displayed. I also like a history bit, such as where item was acquired.
Keep going Luke. Your videos are amazing!
I wear vintage silk scarves (some from my grandma) under a wool or cashmere scarf to keep extra warm in winter, works very well!
Luke, could you do a video explaining more in depth the fashion vernacular?
I often get confused about the more specific definition of expressions like:
- Off the runway
- Couture
- Designer piece
- Custom gown
I see a lot of confusion about when these are applicable. I think that especially "designer" is defined in a lot of different ways.
Silk-scarf wearer here - weather where I live changes a lot during the day, and we have cold-is weather most of the year, so a silk scarf is a super convenient extra layer to wear on and off, and not too warm on those cold-ish days (and obviously they're beautiful and luxurious to wear).
Silk scarf lover here :) while wool scarves are great for winter, I love styling my spring and autumn jackets and lighter coats with a Hermes silk scarf. It gives the outfit personality and color, while still protecting my neck and throat from a mild autumn breeze without making me sweat buckets like with a wool/cashmere scarf. I have various styles and colurs for different outfits and occasions and depending on the climate, they could be a very useful and stylish accessory. 🤷🏻♀️
I believe shes had multiple closets/ houses since this several years old video. I think her new closet room is super cute vs this one from an old apartment she had
Please do a review of the outfits of Villanelle in Killing Eve and how they compliment the disguises she's wearing in the episodes 😭 the show is great and some of the designers featured are Chloè, Etro, Alexander McQueen, Loewe, Ann Demeulemeester, Christian Lacroix, Gucci, Burberry, Molly Goddard, Charlotte Knowles, Dries Van Noten, Halpern, Y/Project, Petar Petrov, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, La Double J, Vampire's Wife, Rosie Assoulin to name a few. Would love to hear your opinion 😊
Miu miu, Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney
Designers scarves are one of my fav products. I wear them as a necktie like accessories and most of the time as a headscarf, as a belt
I thrift and collect silk scarves. As a Eastern European (romanian) living in the US, i love wearing a headscarf to connect to my heritage since my great grandmother would wear one and it makes me feel closer to her. I also use wear them while i drive with the windows down because it makes the sound much less rough and keeps my hair from flying around!
Its comforting to know that you have the same attitude as me because people SWEAR I be hating but were just keeping it real
I’ve been obsessed with these videos of yours lately
Don’t have the money to buy luxury silk scarfs but the squares of silk that I buy in thrift stores, I always use them to style my hair in different ways:) I think it looks great and you can even sleep with them it makes your hair super smooth and without frizzzz x Love your content Luke, keep it up!
Loved your ethical fashion talk ❤️🔥
On the silk scarves question, I work at a thrift shop where we had a lot of silk scarves come in before (some designer, mostly vintage/deadstock) and I've bought them for two things: to tie down my hair in a bandana to protect it, and for accessorizing. For example, in the shop we use them in display units to add some color or patterns to the items! As for me, I use larger scarves as a quick belt on a dress or tied loosely around my shoulders like a piano shawl. for smaller ones I use them around my neck or as a pocket square for my vintage brooks brothers shirts/suit jackets.
Other than that, please review the channel TheLineUp, I love her looks and lookbooks, she's fabulous.
Loving this video, Luke🥰❤️
silk scarfs are a very casual thing in Russia, you just wear them as a head scarf and tie them under your chin. It brightens up your outfit but it's also to protect your ears when it starts getting colder but it's not cold enough to wear wool yet. Russian moms are very very serious about not getting your ears or feet cold lol. My mom always tells me to put on a scarf before I go out.
I think she’ll give you the closet tour you desire. She provides the history of the some of the items pieces along with her reasoning for purchasing
Ι worked luxury retail for a while and the scarves are actually a very popular item for gifts especially for older ladies who still wear them and for customers who wanna wear a sleeveless dress on a formal occasion during spring/summer and they are feeling uncomfortable with showing their arms.
I love that you know your history and the collections by years and I think you are one of the most knowledgeable fashion commentators currently. I collect square silk scarves and I use them as cravates (loose tie?) or simply around my neck looped in a brooch and on windy days on my head as my mother did. Note however that I am of a more mature age than Gabi. I also own quite a few handmade and antique hats that I do keep in boxes so they keep their shape. Some I hang very high in my closet on hooks. Hopes this help.
I love silk scarves! It's my only accessory outside of a necklace and a ring that I use daily. I wrap my hair with them mostly. I never use products in my hair because I keep it very short. So the scarf is great to add color and attraction. I, too, was handed down a lot of silk scarves (grandmother) who had exquisite taste! I cherish them.
Luke's fashion history is so interesting and so well told
Luke would you consider making a video of your favorite fashion books; fashion history, icons, etc? It looks like you have a great collection behind you.
Thanks for the great videos. 💗
Would love to see more videos about the fashion industry and how it works! How are luxury brands making profit? What are the actors from production to consumption? What it’s like to work in the industry etc. I know this channel is mostly fashion critisicm but i feel like learning about behind the scenes would help give a fuller picture
to wrap my hair boo! so tbh my silk scarves mostly never go out, they're a bedtime ritual. thanks for another great vid!
The Duke of Westminster has 2 Stately Homes. One in Cheshire (cheese) ;one on Lancashire which was the home of cotton and woollen mills. These mills did develop a tartan pattern made of a much thinner fabric. It became popular with kilt skirts as uniform for private girls’ schools.
I had a little tartan kilt as my Best Dress when I was 7. I have no Scottish ancestors.
Scotch tartan dates back to 1600’s and only became associated with specific clans in the 1700s
I am dead at the “legal problems” LMAO
14:05 I used them as headwraps. Silk is the best material for curly hair because it doesn't make it frizzy nor does it break it. I don't buy brandnamed scarves though. I don't have the money lol
Designer silk scarves: Head wraps (think 60s & 70s), a wrap over thin cashmere or wool turtlenecks or silk blend tees, over a blazer, one shoulder, belted.
Lol just jumped from watching the Fashion Victims podcast to this!! Good to listen to while studying!
I use silk scarfs (not the really expensive ones) all the time, because I wear them as tops in summer! And my partner ties them loosely around their neck and ist looks really really good!!
I love the silk scarves tied up in ponytail/hair styles
I'm a poet and I also work in rare book archival, meaning that I'm always carrying a bunch of nice books around with me. I have a bunch of beautiful silk scarves which I just use to wrap the books up whenever I carry them around. That way they won't get bumped or scuffed up too bad if they move within my bag.
Hi, as always I love your videos and learn a lot. I have 2 nice silk scarves, which one was handmade by a small portuguese brand and the other one is vintage, fyi. And I wear it on my head, as a top, as a belt etc.. When we can't buy clothes all the time, we get creative with everything. Kisses, continue ly from Portugual 😍
I would love to see you do a video on ethically sourced brands.
And also a Devil Wears Prada outfit analysis lol
Hermes scarf wearer! I wear them as a HIJAB! For special events and I also wear them around my neck as a fashion accessory.
Miss Walmart Ariana doesn't realize designer stuff doesn't necessarily mean good fashion.
Hello Luke. Love your work! I was wondering if you will redo any videos talking about runway shows? I recently saw the Scaperelli runway witch was gorgeous! And there is an exhibition on the work of Thierry Mugler in Paris (RIP) witch I saw and made me watch some of his old shows, I'm fascinated with his work Thank you. Good luck for the rest of your videos! 🌺🌸🌷
We use the scarves to hold our hair rollers in place when we speed around south of France/Italy in our classic whatever cabriolet.
was living for the subtle shade of this !
The tight lip pull at the “that’s my favorite store.” Hahahahahaha died.
the fashion history is what I live for in these videos
So many bags outside of dust bags.
The air register just above the purse on the shelf made me want to cry.
Thank you for recommending the chanel pre fall 2013 show. I loved it.
PLEASE give us more closet tours 🙏💕
Omg I adore silk scarves and tie them around my neck in different styles, love them especially with a turtle neck :)
She probably has the certificates just in case she wants to resell the clothes, just to justify the pricing (obviously they are a lot pricier because of their use on the show) and to grant validity to other collectors or in case that the clothes are displayed somewhere. Yes I am a lawyer 🤭
Hahaha for the silk scarf question, I buy mine second hand but I tie them around my head all the time ! I have a more vintage style tho so I guess that makes sense
