Very surprised at how the F59PHs can handle 7-8 MLVs no problem, but NJT’s GP40s and F40s can handle only up to 4 MLVs; would be interesting if NJT/MNCW bought F59s for NJT’s diesel operations to supplement the Geeps. Super cool vid!
@@ThatOneExoRailfan The second horn on the via engines is to meet a TSB safety law. It has nothing to do with horns breaking. One horn is actually too loud to be used normally.
One lesser known thing about Exo is that a very small number of their equipment bears these rare, "unknown" form of E-Bells (I don't know exactly what they are) which cannot be heard anywhere outside of the Exo system. If you listen very closely in the clips of this video when F59PHIs 1321 and 1322 appear, you can hear them. In fact, apart from those two, the only other thing I know for sure bears this odd kind of bell is Single Level Cab Car 708.
Well at least someone outside of Montréal agree that the new EXO repaint looks ugly and blant than the AMT era before the Quebec government abolished them.
Few week ago, in august, when i was walkin' to the exporail canada covid 19 entry (alternative enter and exit) i seen an amt train passing in front of me while walkin' with my dad going to exporail, it was single level coach, going backward with cabcar, with a f59 phi locomotive (little notice: in amtrak, the f59phi was the surfliner locomotive, but they removed those and use now mor sc44 challenger locomotive) but i didn't have the chance to record it... but a least, it was kinda my 1st "rail fanning" this year!
two horns but they never use them... in those areas lol... can you goto a crossing where they do or link a vid where you got'm? great vid though, good catches and good quality!
I think all e-bells are annoying, but I much prefer the Canadian Transtronic bells to the Graham-White 373 bells. Much less harsh sounding, and they sound more like a real train bell to me
That is honestly one of the stupidest things I have ever read... the trains should be able to honk the horns and test as necessary. It sucks people are so uptight about train horns.

Try telling that to GO Transit train fans in the Toronto area. It’s great to have old F59PHs on select routes but it won’t be long before it all looks the same with just MP40s and the newer ones.
Jacob Estrin I live in the Northern Virginia (USA) area, and the commuter railroad near me, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE), only has MP36 locos and Nippon Sharyo Gallery coaches. It’s pretty boring in my opinion

Sorry , got tired of the constant ringing of the crossing bell and the constant creeping line of Montreal 's commuter trains coming from nowhere and arriving at nowhere .
man, the railroad crossing bell is relentless.
I love the door closing sound on the Metro! It’s beautiful!!

Your so right
They ARE SO POWER FUL THAT THEY CAN HOLD 9 MLV CARS I don't know how but they are the most powerful f59phi
that would be cool
I think it mainly depends on the company. Metra’s consists are usually 5, 7-10 Bi-Levels and 1 F40
a fact for you: the alp45dp are only in the exo system and the njt system, making it rare!
0:48 That F59PHI is boss! 2 horns
I love the amt (EXO) F59phi

I make a mistake, for all locomotives they have two horns because they are not allowed to test them in residential areas.
This is probably the weirdest commuter train I have ever seen. Two sets of horns on the top, a very quiet bell, and locos I have never seen before
Somebody needs to make AMT F59PHs (or F59PHs in general) for HO Scale!
Yeah agreed
Same!

I actually like that bell. It’s better sounding than the other two more common types of e-bells in my opinion
Me too. I wish there were more of them. They would sound great on the UTA FrontRunner Cab Cars and MP36s.
I feel like the “mystery” bell is a revived steam bell just they made it electronic
They are Transtronic bells and Ekyrail bells
I know they're Ekybells now. I just didn't know back then.
Whenever the horns seem good it’s a quiet zone
Wow I never knew that my hometown (canada) had f59phi's like Amtrak
All this train are amazing such beutiful shapes and colour .

Great Vid Montreal West Station is a good spot!
The three Metro Door "chimes" are based on the Three gear transition sounds on the Metro departing a stration
was there no other place to fan at other than next to that crossing gate bell ???

Nice video Michael!
I would have thought how GO Transit would basically go from Toronto to Montreal and maybe the AMT EXO Train would go up to Toronto
700 series Bombardier single level cars. Where are they now?
The safetran type 2 e-bell or the general signals type 2 e-bell sounds very loud because someone is recording right next to it.

These trains have two horns... one is for normal use and the other for emergencies right?
By having two horn sets, they are not required to test them in the morning and thus not impacting residents near yards
