We are fantasizing if we think the Cardinals are going to spend money on big free agents. It's not happening. One of two things is going to happen next year, Mo will still be running everything again so we will get another year like this, only worse because they will cut payroll. The other option is to have Mo step to the side in his last year, and bring in a new head of baseball operations. In that case, they will be overhauling the front office, drafting, development, and coaching, and that is where the money will be spent. There are going to be some lean years ahead unless they can get more out of their players they have. The major league coaching staff is not capable of that.
If you read between the lines in that DeWitt III interview he more or less said that. I fear due to arrogance we'll be seeing the same people in charge and in the dugout next season? If that's the case, fans need to make the statement themselves with empty seats.
If we want to at least want a better team there’s 2 guys that would bring a smile to the fans , I know we may go with younger players but, why not sign Santander he won’t cost no $80 million maybe $65.million he’s worth it a first base man /OFer he’s so far has 41 homers this season , we will be trading many players for prospects cutting Salary, Helsley may go for a nice package deal , Mickelson is going , Lynn or Gibson , Matz , Noot as well another guy we could go after is Take a chance on Shane Bieber who got hurt but if healthy the guy is in incredible if heathy pitched 12 in FA this year 0 runs and 20 KO’s then got hurt , he should be cheap has to prove he’s healthy an Ace behind Grey . Bring up Pallante , Mattthews put Hence as our closer , hope Goldy walks . They are saying we are cutting down on salary hope Gorman hits n stops with the KO’s and Walker looks better not much but, if he can start hitting . Santander we sign for 3-4 years switch hitting slugger he’s a must 😊 let’s trade one of our catchers as well , what do you think ?❤
Well we are cutting down on SALARY we know many players will be gone , but if we sign one player it should be Anthony Santander he’s the perfect fit for us 1base / OF and a power hitting switch hitter , let’s trade who we need too for younger players now who will play CF every day Sinai or Scott ? Let’s not forget Santander won’t coast what a Mets Polar Bear will he’s cheaper he will put ass’s in the seats again in Busch Stadium $65-70 million for 4 years at most .😮😅😊 don’t be a dumb Owner DeWitt sign him .
JD, I just can't see Mr. Stingy spending the necessary money. But on the other hand, I think we have enough young prospects available to handle the starting rotation and the bullpen and position players. Put Mikolas and Matz in the bullpen unless they can trade them. Goldy has to go. It's time. We need to be in rebuild mode next year. I don't think that next year's Cardinals are going to win the world series. They might make the playoffs if they change the manager and coaches and replace them with real baseball people. Starting nine for next year. Winn SS Donovan LF Arenado 3B Contreras C Baker 1B/DH J Walker RF Burleson DH/1B Saggese 2B Siani CF Starting rotation Sonny Gray Andre Pallante Michael McGreevy Eric Fedde Triple-a We don't need to sign a first basement because of the 2 I listed in the starting lineup to alternate at the DH and first base. Burly and Baker. If they are going to keep Goldy then they need to trade Burley and or Baker for some prospects because those guys don't need to be sitting on the bench. I think Goldys only gonna have a worse season that he did this year.
No way is Herrera or Baker starting over Contreras lol! Contreras is in the starting 9 whether if he's Catching or DH. Another guy you forgot was Brendan Donovan either in LF or 2B lol!? If they don't re-sign Goldy then yes Burleson would be my first pick at 1B, with Baker possibly platooning at 1B and against LHP. I also don't see the Cardinals trading or putting Mikolas in the bullpen, maybe Matz though.
Odd.....Seems I remember everyone cooing over Gray being a "Ace?" He'd be a 3 or 4 on the Yankees or LA. That's one reason of many why fans get upset when they are told by this organization to be "Patient?" 😖👈
My picks would be Alonso, Adames, Santander. Need players that have fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the longball. Adames is a gamer and I would think second base. Cole or Snell would be nice.
The problem with the Cardinals as I see is Team Philosophy/Attitude. That comes from Management. Oliver Marmol is a super nice guy and highly likable, but I do not think he is the person for the position. That doesn't mean that I believe that the Cardinals would be hoisting the NL Championship trophy or playing in the world series. It just means that this team needs more than a Manager, they need a role model, a true leader and a person that will know who to appoint to the coaching positions that THIS group of players need around. This team didn't fail the fans, the Cardinal organization failed the fans and the players, the Organization is getting sloppy. The players played as hard as they could and did everything they could do, they just weren't getting the advice/help they needed. Being competitive is more than an annual salary number.
Neither of the free agent hitters proposed in this video will leave their current team. Boros has lost the faith of his clients, I don't believe his clients will be holding out, no matter what he says. Both those free agent hitters' teams are winning, they will hold their current roster together. Those hitters will stay put. For the Cardinals to get better, they need pitching. Trading Matz, Mikolas, Walker and Gorman 2-for-1 for 2 decent pitchers will get us there, if we get one bonafide ace. It might sound strange, but the Dodgers appear to have a luxury tax payroll issue, Ohtani's contract escalates hugely next year and he may also pitch next year, so Flaherty might become available (if Mozeliak and Bloom are gone first, he might want to come back to StL). The A's have some good young pitchers that StL should try to trade for, offering Walker and Gorman, with Matz and Mikolas.
You were nervous about Fedde you raved about that deal. How do you feel about that deal now seeing the Cardinals score one run a game and Tommy tearing it up as a Dodger? I'm just asking I said it would be a trade that haunts the Cardinals... you raved about the trade. Do you take that back? Was that a good trade yes or no?
I'm glad Tommy Edman is doing good, but we have guys like Donovan, Saggese, if we can fix his hitting Gorman, others like Prieto in the wings. Fedde is going to be a good middle rotation he lost mainly because of no support. We need a #1 pitcher like Corbin Burnes, not Snell. Snell is very good or horrid. That Japanese pitcher would be out of reach, but intriguing. Ownership will never pay for Alonzo even if Nootbar's mom is his mom. The kids need to be given their chance. Rooker is the guy to go for over those other guys discussed. Somehow, getting Mason Miller in the deal would be the dream. Rooker and Miller for any number of prospects, and we'll pay you to take Matz/Mikolas!!! 😉
Cardinals can have the best pitching staff but if the team doesn’t score runs, especially those RISP, then winning is impossible. Cardinals need hitters!!!!!!!!!
Santander is a good hitter worthy of a bump in pay. I would be ok with $15-$18 million per year if that doesn't get it done I would be ok with that as well....$20 + million per year is an overpay imo. Rooker is a better value overall....I wouldn't even consider Snell at $30+ million per year. I would however call the Mariners about Logan Gilbert or George Kirby they are very cost effective and seem pretty durable. Taylor Ward for the money would be a good pickup just know going in he hits well early in the year then falls off for a month or two then heats back up again late in the season. Andrew Benetendi has a bad contract call the Sox up and see if they would take back Miles and Matz in a deal for him. I think he's a good hitter just getting overpaid he has 3 yrs left on his contract. I would ask for some sort of extra compensation for taking that contract on.
@@williamyoder-b5s I said check in with them you don't know what they will do until you ask. I think if they move anybody at all it will be Castillo. You're silly to think the Mariners wouldn't even consider a package of Donavon, Burleson and Gorman. Something in that range for Gilbert. I follow the Mariners they are my favorite American league team I know where they need help. They are about to let Polanco walk or should at least. They need a better 3rd baseman. I like Rojas ok but he's not the answer there. They will need a 1st Baseman. Turner is gone after this year. Cardinal garbage that's your arrogant opinion.
If this team is going to the WS, they may have to get worse before they can get better. They would have to do it with the core of young players that the system produced. They need time in mlb to get better. Spend on proven coaching, at least hitting, pitching, and base running. Speed never slumps
I can't wait to see how DeWitt and the front office feels about the fans, the city, and all the empty seats this year. We will have the answers during this off-season
We absolutely don't need to resign Goldy or pick up the options on Lynn and Gibson. We need to trade Miles and Matz for pennies on the dollar, just get rid of them. Both are useless. We need to trade Heisley as he'll bring a nice return on prospects. Heisley is great but will be in a contract year and I doubt we'll pay top dollar for a closer. McCreevy and Matthews both need serious looks in the Spring. We need to resign Kittredge; he's solid and won't be very expensive. I see no way we sing a high dollar FA this Hot Stove, I think we'll see an influx of younger guys and see what we have in 25. I think the Hot Stove of 25 we'll be active once we evaluate our younger guys and decide whose in or out. Lastly and most importantly, Bloom needs to be making these decisions and Bloom needs to fire Oli and his weak staff. I look at 25 as a younger, leaner team that will set the foundation for the future.
Santander, go get him move noot for rooker maybe build in a gorman in that deal for rooker and a pitcher (not mason miller i havent hit the bottle yet) walker-siani/scott-santander in of with biscuts and baker at 1st
I wanna see Max Fried they are estimating he'll likely make 22m a year if we drop Lynn and Gibson and pay off 2 mil on Matz that should be enough for next year plus a signing bonus and we can work out a multi-year deal to have a solid leftie for the next 5-6 years. Still think they should keep Fedde even if they could trade him he's fairly good and cheap to boot.
Anybody who thinks missing spring training caused Snell to be so bad at the beginning of the season, they're totally fooling themself and ignoring Snell's history. He didn't want to pitch where he was, he just wanted the money and the Giants were not a contender. As long as he has a contract, he can fake injury or whatever and miss half the season, like he did this year. He's looking to opt out of the 2nd year in SF, so he got serious about his pitching after the All-Star break, but anyone who signs him to a contract over 1- yr will get nothing out of him until the final year of the deal, when he will be looking for a new contract. The Cardinals should avoid Snell like he has contagious lepracy. We don't want another Matz on this team. We need pitching, but not Snell.
As a cardinal fan over the years i have seen make questionable decisions. I think signing Pete Alonso or Anthony Santander would be the wrong move the cardinals. It would create another log jam of position players and force young stars to move out.
Ownership in my opinion is not going to spend big money, especially on pitching. DeWitt likes promoting rookies from the farm system . Cheaper and ownship has control. The DeWitt montra. Financially smart but it might be a few years before those rookies and 1st and 2nd year players jell into a contending team.
Siani, has centerfield locked down, Nootbar and Walker have right field locked down they need a Left fielder that can power hit and hold an average over .260 all year that can knock in 100 RBIs... Goldshmidt if they can sign him around 17 million a year or less keep him for at least two more years, Baker DH, Arenado needs more tallent around him to hit his numbers, 2nd base give Gorman another shot but add someone better than Crawford this year, keep Carpenter at least one more year he wears down pitchers well the linup needs to learn that skill catcher is a no brainer Gibson changed my mind this year he stood his ground after a terrible first month,Mikolas is losing his stuff he might be gone after his contract its time to sign a starting pitcher as good as Grey or better Helsey is good but he slipped a few times and those wins were needed badly if they can get a comfortable deal they should but they need to have a great backup closer besides him incase he gets injured sometimes it takes time to find all the right pieces for a team that makes a destiny run this team is better than the numbers show offensive coaching needs to improve too many good batters fell off on this team this year coach these batters watch film with them on the pitchers theyre gonna face in the division first and nights before the game they need to study the next days pitchers learn how to wear them down and draw walks
Jordan Walker needs his high school hitting coach to get his swing reset. The cardinals have messed him up. Reminds me of J.D. Drew the cardinals messed him as well. As for the catcher debate, is Ivan Herrera good enough? He should be the Cardinals future stud catcher. Cardinals need a leader in the clubhouse and on the bench. One last thing 3 million through the gates for YEARS and YEARS don’t talk about money issue.
Nobody is taking Miles off your hands, they need an Ace named Corbin Burnes(period) Alanso would be a stupid sign since stupid is as stupid does. Why pay him superstar money when Burlson or Baker should play.
Stay with our youth we have 2 pitchers that are ready and 3 positions players that are ready last year 20 under 500 this year it'll be better next year will be even better matz , miles bullpen its about winning not the money
Goldschmidt has had down years ever since MVP and I would expect down from this year next year. LET HIM GO! I would trade Arenado as he's nothing more than a singles hitter now.
Fixing this organization for long term success should not be focusing on signing "mega" free agents this offseason. By the way, that article was a flippin' joke. The only realistic approach is going to be on the trade front.
No Free Agent is the answer. The entire org is dogshit, the analytics is far below the league. They have no pitching lab or hitting lab for their players. They are short staffed on coaches and instructors in the minor leagues. Free agents are the last thing we should be talking about.
Total truth Mo has been a complete failure. Probably the worst person in the history of the Cardinals in his position. Even when the Cardinals were winning he would still make a dumb trade or decision.
Hey JD; Santander is intriguing to me. I love his big bat. I think the Cards might go after a starter. They have outfielders that I think they may want to see how they’ve developed after another year. I still like Walker. Nootbaar would be the odd guy out for me. I’d like to see Scott II get a lot of playing time. Have a great weekend JD!
Mo will resign Goldy, Gibbs, and a 35+ hitter and then clap the dirt from his hands and call it a huge off-season and talk about how that will make them playoff contenders. I have lost faith in the front office.
Stop it. Seriously. You’re mopping up water on the first floor while a toilet is over flowing on the second….spending money on free agents won’t solve this organizations problem: player development.
STL has a complex that the grass is always greener. The best and only deal I would make is Skenes and Oniel Crews from Pittsburgh for whoever they wanted. The whole STL outfield, fine. I know Gorman will be traded but he should be the third baseman of the future. And you talk about DH's. If Contreras is Kept he has to be the DH. How many times does he have to get hurt to prove he is no catcher.
Of course, we all want to see a better product on the field. But I agree with Bernie Miklas that the problems are deeper than the players. The Cardinals have fallen behind organizationally and philosophically. It's time to modernize with Chaim Bloom and a fresh perspective of the future. Player changes are temporary, but deep-rooted organizational changes can extend well into the next era of Cardinal success. An underperforming team indicates a broken organization.

The Cardinals should avoid Snell like he has contagious lepracy. We don't want another Matz on this team. We need pitching, but not Snell.
Sign Santander. Trade for either or both Gilbert/Rooker. Adding those 3 would be great.
the cardinals dont have enuff to get gilbert or kirby
The answer is to get rid of mo
Single handed he has destroyed everything he has touched.
I’d take Rooker.
Matz has been a bust
Jordan Walker needs his high school hitting coach to get his swing reset. The cardinals have messed him up. Reminds me of J.D. Drew the cardinals messed him as well. As for the catcher debate, is Ivan Herrera good enough? He should be the Cardinals future stud catcher. Cardinals need a leader in the clubhouse and on the bench. One last thing 3 million through the gates for YEARS and YEARS don’t talk about money issue.
No the cards are rebuiding. Spend that money on the minors.
If Moz is still here, nobody will come. Yea, I really believe that. Weary of his schtick.
Nobody is taking Miles off your hands, they need an Ace named Corbin Burnes(period) Alanso would be a stupid sign since stupid is as stupid does. Why pay him superstar money when Burlson or Baker should play.
Should, but will DimWit let them?
Let's focus on 26'. Not next year.
Stay with our youth we have 2 pitchers that are ready and 3 positions players that are ready last year 20 under 500 this year it'll be better next year will be even better matz , miles bullpen its about winning not the money
Always take pitching first and they'll not sign any of them.
Goldschmidt has had down years ever since MVP and I would expect down from this year next year. LET HIM GO! I would trade Arenado as he's nothing more than a singles hitter now.
They could help us but DeWitt won’t allow it!
Sure.they won t stay long and theyll get older.and in the meantime fuck over young guys in the system
I wouldn t throw money on free agents.they never luve up to their billing and they blow this joint as soon as they can
I just don’t believe they invest
Fixing this organization for long term success should not be focusing on signing "mega" free agents this offseason. By the way, that article was a flippin' joke. The only realistic approach is going to be on the trade front.
No Free Agent is the answer. The entire org is dogshit, the analytics is far below the league. They have no pitching lab or hitting lab for their players. They are short staffed on coaches and instructors in the minor leagues. Free agents are the last thing we should be talking about.
You re full of shit.analytics is what got cards here in the first place.the teams that play old fashion baseball i.e the brewers win.
Total truth Mo has been a complete failure. Probably the worst person in the history of the Cardinals in his position. Even when the Cardinals were winning he would still make a dumb trade or decision.
Hey JD;
Santander is intriguing to me.
Alonso turned down 6 year 150 plus mullion sorry But no
As mo said Pitching ,,pitching ,pitching
That's where it starts,Mo failed .
Trade matz ,miles they can't be on the team .
Stop it. Seriously. You’re mopping up water on the first floor while a toilet is over flowing on the second….spending money on free agents won’t solve this organizations problem: player development.
Eliminated.... again 😢
Never going to happen
I hope we land max scherzer he's a free agent and it would b awesome to c him finish career with r cardinals nxt yr !!
This guy talks to much. Just get to the point …
this guy sure as hell aint no bernie m
STL has a complex that the grass is always greener. The best and only deal I would make is Skenes and Oniel Crews from Pittsburgh for whoever they wanted. The whole STL outfield, fine. I know Gorman will be traded but he should be the third baseman of the future. And you talk about DH's. If Contreras is Kept he has to be the DH. How many times does he have to get hurt to prove he is no catcher.
