I remember as a teenager excitedly telling my friends (who were also Star Wars fans, played all the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games, read the novels etc) about the ships I'd seen studying the Battle of Endor close-up, and how they didn't match with any ships so far depicted in the expanded universe. They just looked at me like I was off my meds. You're my new hero.
Finally decided to write my own ideas for these ships. Here you go: Rebel Tanker Ship The CT-39 Ribbon-class Refueling Tanker, also known as the "Golan Ribbon Tanker" or the "Rebel Tanker Ship", was an inflight refueling vessel in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Constructed by Corellian Engineering Corporation though contracted by Golan Ribbon, the vessel was 45 meters in length and had a crew of 20. In 3 ABY following the Battle of Endor, at least three - the Condor Spiral (below), Black Helix (above) and Selonian Den (other) - were present with the medical frigate Redemption and her task force when Commander Luke Skywalker underwent treatment when he lost his hand. Rebel Gunship The Dallin-class Transport, also known as the "Rebel Gunship", was a heavy-duty transport in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Introduced in 50 BBY and constructed by Rendili StarDrive, thousands were made and used in multiple usages from passenger transport, cargo hauler or outlying system patrol craft. The Dallin-class was 62 meters in length and had a crew of between 25 and 50. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, twelve of these ships found their way to the rebellion and were retrofitted with medium-duty laser cannons and torpedo launchers. In 4 ABY, all of these ships were part of the Alliance Fleet that rendezvoused at Sullust and would participate in the Battle of Endor, serving to defend the underarmed GR-75 medium transports and Sullustan cargo freighters. Only seven of the ships - including the Pallas - would survive the engagement. Mon Calamari corvette The MC27 heavy corvette, also known as the "Mon Calamari corvette" or "Mon Cala corvette", was a heavy-duty corvette in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Initially constructed by Mon Calamari Shipyards during the Clone Wars to defend the outlying colonies of the Calamari sector, it was not unusual to see them fighting on either the side of the Galactic Republic or the Confederacy of Independent Systems. They were 245 meters in length and had a crew of 550. Following the Subjugation of Mon Cala, several Mon Calamari corvettes found their way to defend the diaspora fleet, functioning as the only line of defence for the largely underarmed cruisers and transports that escaped the Mon Calamari homeworld, though others remained in service as part of the Imperial occupying fleet. When the Mon Calamari gave their support to the rebellion during the Galactic Civil War, a significant number of these ships served in the Alliance Fleet. In 4 ABY, thirty-five Mon Calamari corvettes - including the Spirit of Lee-Char - rendezvoused at Sullust and participated in the Battle of Endor, working alongside the smaller Marauder-class corvettes, CR90 corvettes, DP20 frigates and Braha'tok-class gunships to defend the larger Star Cruisers and heavy cruisers. Only seven ships were lost in the engagement - including the Quarren Allegiant, which sacrificed itself to disable the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Adjudicator and allow its capture by the MC80 wingless Liberty-type Star Cruiser Amalthea and Neutron Star-class bulk cruiser Longshot.

In case you're interested, the name "Pallas" was derived from one of the ships commanded by famed naval commander Thomas Cochrane. It wasn't an impressive ship, but it was used impressively by it's crew. I figured this was similar to another Rendili design, the Dreadnaught-class, obviously named after the famous battleship, HMS Dreadnought, another important British ship.
if the OP descriped it as a converted freighter, I think calling the Pallas-class a Light Frigate is a little much. He said it was 60 meters, which isnt that big. Perhaps Med Freighter?
I figured it was some kind of observation or control tower, as it offers somewhat better sight lines over the tanks and would be useful for flight control/management of fighters being refueled.
In my opinion, the hull of the Lancet Class is too long and skinny to be considered a corvette and I believe the term frigate is more appropriate. As for the Ersatz light cruiser, well, it's smaller than the Lancet Class which makes no sense for it to be a cruiser at all but you can call it a corvette though.
Why is the b-wing called the b-wing and not the t-wing it's wings are literally shaped like a t I mean x wings have x-shaped wings b-wings should have b-shaped wings or atleast be renamed to t-wing
Dan the Dangerous Well technically they already are since they are from the movies. But I know what you mean, it would be great to see these ships expanded on and used in different stories, games, etc.
@@zobblewobble1770 They doesn't even have a name in the Canon. We see them in the movie, but we can only refer to them as "unidentified rebel ship number 1", "unidentified rebel ship number 2", etc...
and since Disney has made it clear that they watch Henry's channel (the TIE Dagger, based upon Henry's TIE Vector), they just might use something similar to these models
Lucasfilm should definitely hire you to work on the Expanded Universe... Shame that such cool ships are just forgotten when they're supposed to be part of the Canon.
@@RaikenXion well not really. None of these are so "Imperial". But Xyston is cool, although I would prefer if they added maybe only 10 or 20 of them, and others to be Resurgents so that we could see them in action as well
@@Tracer_Krieg Didn't the Quarren throw in with the CIS during the Clone Wars? If that is the case, the aesthetic that the third cruiser was built by the Quarren makes even more sense.
I never really paid much mind to writing headcanons for these ships, but now that I've been doing more Star Wars miniature projects, the ideas have just sort of been coming to me more. First: Corellian TR10 Long Range Tanker - Originally designed as planetary liquid fuel bus for transportation between ground-based fuel refineries and orbital cargo docks, the TR10 was immediately retrofitted for regional security forces at the outset of the Separatist crisis. The Republic Navy couldn't aid every world, and as such, individual planets' security forces were stretched to the limit, dealing with Separatist incursions on every corner of their borders. Security forces across the galaxy made use of these nimble craft to keep hyperdrive-equipped starfighters fueled and ready for combat, even lightyears away from the nearest star base. These craft were already uniquely suited to the type of guerilla tactics which would soon be employed years later and as such, high ranking members of the Rebel Alliance with prior military history made securing a large number of these invaluable craft from post-war surplus warehouses a top priority. Second: Rendili B-29 Transport - The prestigious Rendili StarDrive was one of the Republic's foremost starship manufacturers, their success due in no small part to the enduring design of the Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser. Rendili's haughty attitude and traditional design put them constantly at odds with companies like Kuat Drive Yards and Corellian Engineering Corporation. In an effort to combat CEC's ubiquitous Gozanti-class Cruiser, Rendili entered the civilian transport market with the B-29 Transport. Where the Gozanti was designed to act as a semi-autonomous fortress, the B-29 was designed with luxury and heavy, reliable armor in mind. This transport would be designed for nobles and discerning star pilots. The lack of heavy weapons meant that for high profile transport missions, the ship would have to fly with an attaché of starfighters. This was a major drawback which the company hoped their good name and brand recognition would be enough to overcome. As the years drew on, and the Clone Wars came, the B-29 was failing in the open market in favor of the Gozanti. By the time Rendili scored the illustrious Victor Initiative, which would pave their way into returning to the Republic's good graces after losing the naval contract to Kuat, production of the B-29 completely ceased, and what few ships remained on the aftermarket passed from hand to hand, usually losing much of their once impressive hull plating along the way. When the Rebel Alliance came to acquire a handful of these ships from a disgraced noble house forced into hiding by the Empire, they were barely functional. This would not deter their new owners, however, as the rebels could hardly turn down good ship stock. Third: Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps MC20b Star Frigate - Years before the Clone Wars, Mon Cala was a force to be reckoned with in the Outer Rim, and very few planets that found themselves far from the core could resist the tried and true quality of Mon Calamari ship designs. Designed in part by Quarren engineers, the MC20 line was astoundingly popular among anti-piracy forces along Hutt Space. When the Clone Wars finally did break out, the MC20 was seen on both sides, by the Mon Calamari regional forces, and sporadically by the Confederacy and the Quarren who originally designed the ship. Many MC20 units were mass-retrofitted with droid crews in mind, stripping away much of the extraneous space necessary to facilitating an organic species. The bulky, bulbous shapes of the MC20 were slimmed down to the elegant design seen in the MC20b, which was redesigned to field as much raw firepower as possible, while allowing a contingent of droid starfighters to hang along the underside of its large bow section. After the unilateral defeat of the Separatists, most MC20b units were scuttled completely, but some were secreted away to underground forces which hoped to continue the war under a new banner. After helping to negotiate a formal end to the prolonged hostilities between the Mon Calamari and Quarren, Admiral Gial Ackbar ensured that a small fleet of MC20b frigates, ships which once carried the livery of his sworn enemies, would fight side by side with his own forces in pursuit of the restoration of peace and democracy to the embattled galaxy.
As a physical model maker, let me say THANK YOU! I definitely want yo attempt that Mon Cal...light cruiser? Sorta a Rebel version of the Arquitens class- something nicely armed and capable of being turned out in numbers to fill holes in fleets. It's even possible these are stored or attach to large Mon Cal ships for saving fuel during long hyperspace jaunts. Call it the Remora class.
@@no-np8dw it can be anything at this point lol. That's the great thing about obscure background designs. Until Lucasfilm acknowledges their existence. They can be anything.
You *should* be very happy with these. They are amazing, and as an archivist I love the research you put in this project. You should share some of your sources, as in, share how you found them.
I want to see it in Armada with a massive blue dice front attack but otherwise completely weak. 1 red 4 blue on the front, 2 ion slots, able to equip disposable capacitors. Able to do 1 great activation and then dead if you get it any closer. 4 hull, 3 front shields, 1 shield all other hulls. 1 red 4 blue front, 2 blue all other sides. Evade, redirect, redirect. Somewhere between 40-60 pts.
I did notice the twin pod ship and it was always a curiosity.....I like the tanker theory. There is also the infamous ‘sneaker ship’ in the rebel fleet!
First off your Refueler model is godly Also, the fan naming discussion begins now I guess. Maybe because of the NASA building kit inspirations these can have classicalish names The Auriga-Class Fuel Tanker/ The Auriga-Class Repulsor Tug Maybe it has variants where you can swap out the fuel tanks for tugs, whether for salvaging or repairs, just a modular support ship that happened to be in a fuel configuration because the Rebellion was (legends) outside of the entire galaxy itself, so, fuel. Yeah. Also Auriga means Charioteer, so, I felt that fitting for the refueler/tug vibe. Clunky, antiquated, but sturdy. *Possible Stats* Speed ~ 300-400 km/hr? Slower than TIE bomber and only one engine for thrust. Hyperdrive ~ Class 5.0 or 3.0? It is a refueler, but it needs to keep up with the Rebel fleet and starfighters in the role you presumed for it. Able to dock 3 Starfighters at a time (one on each incline on the top of the ship next to the CR90 esque bubbles; one attached underside) Crew ~ 1 Pilot, 1 Engineer/Deck Hand/Gas Station Guy, 1 Navigator The Aquila-Class Heavy Frigate/Cruiser The front slopes reminded me of an Eagle's beak, and it does bear resemblance to the Dreadnought-Class (hilariously misleading name) Heavy Cruiser. I believe Aquila constellation holds the star Altair, known as the Eagle, or I'm dead wrong. Maybe it's Aquila that's eagle. Whatever, birds are pretty cool and the Assassin's Creed franchise gets a highlight. *Possible Stats* Speed ~ 700 km/hr? I have no idea, roughly the speed of the Dreadnought-class HC but wikipedia isn't helping me out here. Hyperdrive ~ 2.0, should healthily keep up or it's not worth even Rebel use. No Starfighter complement. Crew ~ 1,000, more than the MC-30c and a little more than Nebulon-C but under other conventional cruiser crew numbers The MC-25 Spear-Class Corvette It has a balanced but aggressive-capable support armament, as corvettes do, and its frame is narrow like the MC-30 but just vastly scaled down. Could be a variant if MC line is reserved for frigates, cruisers or larger ships, but I don't know how their naming conventions work. Plus the wings and engines could be precursors to later designs, but just experimentally taken out with the MC-30. *Possible Stats* Speed ~ Probably 100 km/hr slower than the D6 Corellian Gunship since it's evidently a frigate and not a corvette. Hyperdrive ~ 2.0, nothing fancy. Might carry 2 Starfighters tucked under, similar to Braha'tok Slap-on landing docks, or one squadron if a hangar is on the underside of the ship between the two wings. Seems too skeletal for that, though. Crew ~ 700, less than Nebulon-C and MC-30c.
Late, but I'd say that the Aquila would have a quarter of your suggested crew compliment, maybe not even that, being 63 meters in length. Look at those windows on the model, it gives you the size of one of the decks. At most I'd say it has five, maybe six decks. I'd put the crew at 20~.
I'm just continuously amazed how much you do for this stuff. Lots of research, modelling work, etc... Hell you even basically constructed grammar for a language once.
You, sir, have a better sense of the Star Wars universe I grew up loving than much of what I've seen in the most recent movies. I also love how you do your best to keep the shape of your rebuilds as close to the original shots from the movies as possible. Even when you diverge, your changes really do make your design seem more Star Wars-y IMHO. Even your back stories fit the bill! Keep up the great work! You are really tapping into the original wonder I felt with the original trilogy as a kid. Thank you!
The final ship looks very similar to a Recusant with a few exceptions. That's really praise-worthy that they took some obscure (but visible) designs from the originals to create designs for the prequels so that they would more neatly fit itself into both eras without overwriting the originals. In reality they were probably just left-over models Lucas had that he wanted to reuse, but hey..
You don´t upload often, but when you do, you have a tendency to blow my mind. For that Dreadnought-look-a-like i would define it as a relative to the Dreadnought: a Rendili StarDrive ship line close to the bigger cruiser to carry support and consumables but also as a standalone freighter, with them sharing components to make spare part production easier and cheaper. Like using Dreadnought manuouvering thrusters as main thrusters in the transport, same coms equipment and sensor tech ect. Naming it would be something humble, maybe the Rendili Hauler?
Dude, those are AMAZING! Excellent work! I was one of the few people I know who would frame-by-frame the old VHS tape, as a kid, to try and see those ships. I never thought I'd get a chance to see them up close, as you've done here! If you're looking to do more work like this, how about 3D modeling the "ragtag" colonial fleet from the '78 Battlestar Galactica? That's a series with a huge following that does not get the love or attention that Star Wars and Star Trek get.
What a gorgeous work you've done here! Some of these designs also were recently published by Mel Miniatures at shapewas for the tabletop SBG, Star Wars Armada by FFG. They called the Mon Cal Corvette the MC20 as it is smaller than the MC30... As an addition to that; there's also a small, flat ship in the same scene the fighter refuelling ship is featured at tue end of Empire strikes back. I would absolutely love your take on that design! There's also a miniature of that one on Mel's though... Anyway; Thank you for the great work! Keep it up!
Dude. I know these ships are super old, but if you and Eck makes a sequel to Battle of the Dreadnoughts, then these three ships just need to be there with the fleet!
Man, you're on to something here. I really like what you're doing. I've always been interested in the background and unknown ships. Hopefully we can get lots more videos like this.
The second one looks like a grumpy dewback. :) 60m.. Definite Republic Fleet Systems (what became Seinar Fleet Systems after the transition to Galactic Empire iirc) feel to it. Okay, I'm thinking bottom turret is a single light or medium turbolaser, missile launchers more likely than torpedo tubes I'm thinking due to the size, anti-fighter armament likely would consist of dual laser cannons (light or medium) and the extra weapons front in addition to the ordinance tubes would probably be similar (small laser cannon turrets with limited traverse). Not allot of space for crew 25 - 30 + supplemental droids tops I'm thinking. Mid to low grade hyperdrive (Class 3 or 2 in the Legends rating system) with a range comparable to a CW era Gozanti.
I think it should be a version of the old "dreadnoughts" from the old cannon. they look very similar and it looks like a rebel re-fit (I would use a class I refit and a class II refit for the "rebel assault frigate)
@@williamt.sherman9841 At E. C. Henry's estimated 60m it is 1/10th the length of a Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser. There is no way they can come even close to putting the same level of firepower in it as the Dreadnaughts had...
@@corwinhyatt519it could be further away and smaller because its on the edge of the fleet?... or its of the same era and design concept but smaller. Like an Old Republic Light Cruiser
Oh man those designs are amazing, I would love to see these implemented in the AotR mod of Empire at War, keep in mind that in said mod they brought in the Brahatok/dornean gunship, so i'd love to see these ships in use for games.
I would love to see you tackle a “real life” version of the twilight, or how it would have looked kitbashed if it was to appear in the Original Trilogy
You've just absolutely blown my mind! Sparked my imagination!! These ships (especially the second and third ones) are gorgeous!! I'm speechless, man. It's so important to flesh out the Rebel fleet and your models contribute so much depth to that! I would love to see a gallery.
Sorry for correction, but it was the quarren who built the providence and the recusant, the quarren shared the planet of mon cala with the mon calamari, but I agree that it looks like a mix of both ships.
I remember zooming into the DVD of Empire trying to figure out what some of these ships were. Absolutely love that you did this and answered a years old question for me. You are a true hero.
Those are amazing. I did my own versions a while back but yours are much, much better. Now I want to know how did you manage to see references from the original miniatures :D
A fantastic video. I've been wondering about those ships for decades and was always frustrated they never got any kind of mention, no matter how obscure things got with the old EU (the TIE Bomber shuttle too!). Is there any chance you can cover the other unidentified ships at the end of Empire Strikes Back? Did you see their models as well? As for ideas for future videos, how about the Rebel tank on Hoth? Or, more negatively, how the new films keeping breaking the rules of hyperspace (each one has done something unnecessarily non-canon, like the U-wing jumping while in atmosphere).
I absolutely love this. I used to replay the battle scenes to and pause to look at all the models and the last two really stood out to me and I could not believe that there weren’t any references to them anywhere.
Also: You added guns to the BOTTOM of a Star Wars Ship? This is Heresy! There is no such think ;-) But being Honest here for a moment, these ships look REALLY good. Good work
It's so nice to see the middle-weight ships of the Rebellion fleshed out. Because of the nature of TV and movies, we get so much time spent with either the "hero-ships" like the Falcon and Ghost, or the massive cruisers, and too often we don't get to see the frigates, escorts and light cruisers that make the fleets feel real. Also, I love the idea of a Starfighter refueling ship. Fits the Rebellion so well given their tactics and limited resources.
There are some pictures of actual ESB AT-ST model. Just google "hoth at-st". So there is no need for 3D model here, but If he wants to make it then he should go for it.
What about the Nadiri Mk 1 Starhawk from the Aftermath books? It played a crucial role in the Battle of Jakku, but we never got any visual interpretation of it, so it would be cool to see what you come up with
When I was six or seven, I used to put the VCR on pause just to take sketches of these obscure ships - I still have the drawings. Crude, but quite adorable considering how long ago that was. I called the "tanker" *Ravenclaw* because a raven used to perch on my balcony everyday after noon, so he was there while I was drawing those sketches.
Very cool. I think the second ship is my favourite, it came out really well. I do wonder if the pods on the tanker were made from the same kind of paint bucket as the escape pod in ANH. The shape looks pretty close.
3:36 it's an alliance assault cruiser. I've seen that ship a million times in empire at war mods. The alliance assault cruiser mark 1 "was" a refitted dreadnought. in universe the ship was heavily modernized and refitted to reduce crew requirements. one could imagine that those dots are gun ports, and when the "original" Rendilli Dreadnought was conceived as its predecessor turrets and armor were added to make it bulkier and more like space battleships from anime. I figured it was a dreadnought when I watched episode 6. The last ship is very similar to the Quarren made Recuscant class. The rebellion had recuscants in legends too. I think the Recuscant was specifically made as a call back to that ship. in universe a Moncal refit of a destroyer designed to be crewed only by small numbers of b1s makes sense.
Hey EC Henry why don't you do a video on the VF-1( and its predecessor the VF-0) from SDF Macross? Maybe you can do videos critiquing other Variable Fighters from Macross as well.
I have to say that I love not only your attention to detail but your passion and artistic flair for this sci fi series. You do some amazing work and I'm using some of your designs as inspiration to inform my own hobby work with SW models. Keep it up man!
The mon calamari frigate could be called the MC10 or the MC20, the tanker could be called an VT-700 startanker (corellian) and the dreadnought lookalike could be called an Gralix class freighter (rendili star drive maybe?)
I think the ship in the back round that looks like a Old Cannon Dreadnought should be... a Dreadnought. Its different looking because its been refitted by the Alliance.
First one: Looks very much like a product of CEC to me. Maybe instead of a starfighter refueling ship though, it resupplies the medium sized vessels of the fleet (I.E. the ones too large to land within a carrier, but too small to have extended fuel capacities of their own). The scene it shows up in could hint at its role as well: maybe it hauls bacta. Next up: Rendili Stardrive Medium Freighter, modified. Sized between the Falcon and the Wild Karrde, with armament to match. The personal ship of some previously unmentioned independent captain who signed on with the Rebellion. Lastly: MC20d/MC25d Mon Calamari heavy corvette. The heavy corvette designation and -d subtype are wartime refits, as vessels of this class previously served as personal liners for those in prominent positions, such as system/planetary officials.
This is amazing work you did. I always noticed these ships in the background whenever I watched the movies but nobody ever said anything on it. It was a shame that nobody noticed them all these years because they can be worthwhile ships in some star wars game or scenario. Especially the Mon Cal Corvette. It makes sense that Mon Cal has other ships other than their big cruisers for example. Having tanker ships or armed transports also make sense.
>dreadnought class heavy cruiser. SW, why must you care so little about naval classification? It frankly hurts my brians sometimes. Still, great video, always love your modeling work.
What's wrong with Dreadnought-class Heavy Cruiser? The most famous HMS Dreadnought was technically a Dreadnought-class battleship (though she was a one off and isn't really called that) and then there's the upcoming Dreadnought-class submarines.
well in the old cannon the Dreadnoughts were very old ships from the Old Republic that when they were built were top of the line- but by the Galactic Civil war they were basically obsolete and were classified as Heavy Cruisers- Old ships being re-classified is something that does happen a lot in real life (such as WW2 Fleet Carriers becoming Escort Carriers (or CVS) WW1 Battlships became little more than gun fire platforms in WW2 so its not that strange to have a ship that was once a "Dreadnought" become some much less.
Actually, star wars ships are not classed with our real life designations, they are classed by the Anaxes war college, hence star destroyers, star dreadnaughts and star defenders

Max Deyes Yep, but a separate bridge speaks more to the Star Wars design language.
to me is just a plastic sausage got taken out from a miniture food truck
I figured it was some kind of observation or control tower, as it offers somewhat better sight lines over the tanks and would be useful for flight control/management of fighters being refueled.
I thought it was a separatist cruiser like the Malevolence
It's so cool that official ships are still being discovered
Could you do a Tie Predator video? I always loved it from the Legends Fel Empire lineup of ships.

Mon Calamari Shipyards: Lancet Class Corvette
Koensayr Manufacturing: T-wing Medium Refueler
Rebel Ersatz Light Cruiser: "Patchwork Sali" (One-off wartime retrofit of a mothballed civilian transport)
Nice!
I love the mon cal corvette. I honestly wish all three of these were canon if Marvel would actually ask for permission to use fan designs for once
Why is the b-wing called the b-wing and not the t-wing it's wings are literally shaped like a t I mean x wings have x-shaped wings b-wings should have b-shaped wings or atleast be renamed to t-wing
@@greenbean325 I agree. From what I've read, B-Wing apparently stands for "Blade Wing" because of how it lays flat in a hangar.
I really want to see these in canon now
Dan the Dangerous Well technically they already are since they are from the movies.

That Mon Cal corvette is very similar to the quarren providence and recusant ships used by the CIS
The Mon Cal and the Quarren have some shared technology, at least in legends
Those ships were built by Quarren, the Mon Cala's neighbors. So, it makes sense for their designs to be very similar.
It would make sense for old separatist ship to find their way into rebel hsnds
@@Tracer_Krieg Well I was just thinking that it might be the real world inspiration for them.
I called it the MC20 Fulmota class Frigate. So great to see EC Henry revive these vessels.
@@richardched6085 it's a Corvette actually
@@no-np8dw it can be anything at this point lol. That's the great thing about obscure background designs. Until Lucasfilm acknowledges their existence. They can be anything.

Also cool to see someone else is wondering what those ships looked like
You *should* be very happy with these. They are amazing, and as an archivist I love the research you put in this project. You should share some of your sources, as in, share how you found them.
That Mon Cal Corvette looks like the ISA Destroyers like the Victory from Babylon 5.
First thing I thought when he showed the 3D model.
I love your second ship to bits. The size of the engines compared to the rest of the ship, and the homage to the Saturn 5 is just beautiful.
I did notice the twin pod ship and it was always a curiosity.....I like the tanker theory. There is also the infamous ‘sneaker ship’ in the rebel fleet!
sneaker ship...
hWAT
I'm not sure sbout the cockpit placement, though. It has no lateral visability.
@@jfangm you win some you lose some.
With the model he made, the pods made me think of the TIE Bomber, but if it were a bomber, it seems like we would have seen them in action in RotJ.
@@jfangm neither do TIE fighters.
That last ship looks like a Mon Cal version of one of the CIS ships.
Because it is
First off your Refueler model is godly
Also, the fan naming discussion begins now I guess.
Maybe because of the NASA building kit inspirations these can have classicalish names
The Auriga-Class Fuel Tanker/
The Auriga-Class Repulsor Tug
Maybe it has variants where you can swap out the fuel tanks for tugs, whether for salvaging or repairs, just a modular support ship that happened to be in a fuel configuration because the Rebellion was (legends) outside of the entire galaxy itself, so, fuel. Yeah. Also Auriga means Charioteer, so, I felt that fitting for the refueler/tug vibe. Clunky, antiquated, but sturdy.
*Possible Stats*
Speed ~ 300-400 km/hr? Slower than TIE bomber and only one engine for thrust.
Hyperdrive ~ Class 5.0 or 3.0? It is a refueler, but it needs to keep up with the Rebel fleet and starfighters in the role you presumed for it.
Able to dock 3 Starfighters at a time (one on each incline on the top of the ship next to the CR90 esque bubbles; one attached underside)
Crew ~ 1 Pilot, 1 Engineer/Deck Hand/Gas Station Guy, 1 Navigator
The Aquila-Class Heavy Frigate/Cruiser
The front slopes reminded me of an Eagle's beak, and it does bear resemblance to the Dreadnought-Class (hilariously misleading name) Heavy Cruiser. I believe Aquila constellation holds the star Altair, known as the Eagle, or I'm dead wrong. Maybe it's Aquila that's eagle. Whatever, birds are pretty cool and the Assassin's Creed franchise gets a highlight.
*Possible Stats*
Speed ~ 700 km/hr? I have no idea, roughly the speed of the Dreadnought-class HC but wikipedia isn't helping me out here.
Hyperdrive ~ 2.0, should healthily keep up or it's not worth even Rebel use.
No Starfighter complement.
Crew ~ 1,000, more than the MC-30c and a little more than Nebulon-C but under other conventional cruiser crew numbers
The MC-25 Spear-Class Corvette
It has a balanced but aggressive-capable support armament, as corvettes do, and its frame is narrow like the MC-30 but just vastly scaled down. Could be a variant if MC line is reserved for frigates, cruisers or larger ships, but I don't know how their naming conventions work. Plus the wings and engines could be precursors to later designs, but just experimentally taken out with the MC-30.
*Possible Stats*
Speed ~ Probably 100 km/hr slower than the D6 Corellian Gunship since it's evidently a frigate and not a corvette.
I wonder why they look similar to CIS ships....
Some of the larger ships are recycled amalgams of old ships that the rebelion patchworked together i believe
I would honestly assume that the designers for the prequels looked at the Battle of Endor for inspiration on ship designs.
I'm just continuously amazed how much you do for this stuff. Lots of research, modelling work, etc... Hell you even basically constructed grammar for a language once.
The Mon Calimari corvette could be called the MC15.
Is there a Gallery for your work, especially the Forerunner Fortress-Class ship?
You, sir, have a better sense of the Star Wars universe I grew up loving than much of what I've seen in the most recent movies. I also love how you do your best to keep the shape of your rebuilds as close to the original shots from the movies as possible. Even when you diverge, your changes really do make your design seem more Star Wars-y IMHO. Even your back stories fit the bill! Keep up the great work! You are really tapping into the original wonder I felt with the original trilogy as a kid. Thank you!
4:22 reminds me something from the CIS fleet like the Providence class dreadnought
One of those ships looked like a hand me down from the CIS Clone Wars era ships. Elongated ship, bridge placement, etc.

Fits the Rebellion so well given their tactics and limited resources.

it's an alliance assault cruiser.

First one:
Looks very much like a product of CEC to me.
Next up:
Rendili Stardrive Medium Freighter, modified. Sized between the Falcon and the Wild Karrde, with armament to match. The personal ship of some previously unmentioned independent captain who signed on with the Rebellion.
Lastly:
MC20d/MC25d Mon Calamari heavy corvette. The heavy corvette designation and -d subtype are wartime refits, as vessels of this class previously served as personal liners for those in prominent positions, such as system/planetary officials.
I love your channel so much, please keep making more of these types of videos!

The most famous HMS Dreadnought was technically a Dreadnought-class battleship (though she was a one off and isn't really called that) and then there's the upcoming Dreadnought-class submarines.
well in the old cannon the Dreadnoughts were very old ships from the Old Republic that when they were built were top of the line- but by the Galactic Civil war they were basically obsolete and were classified as Heavy Cruisers- Old ships being re-classified is something that does happen a lot in real life (such as WW2 Fleet Carriers becoming Escort Carriers (or CVS)
WW1 Battlships became little more than gun fire platforms in WW2 so its not that strange to have a ship that was once a "Dreadnought" become some much less.
Actually, star wars ships are not classed with our real life designations, they are classed by the Anaxes war college, hence star destroyers, star dreadnaughts and star defenders
