It’s absolutely crazy to me knowing that his best friend died in a car accident and Ruggs still made the decision to get in that car, drunk and drive it as fast as he did.
Look man, i know confident people can do dangerous cocky things, but I love my car too much to risk wrecking it. To me, it's not just about avoiding drinking and driving, it's about respecting your car, and that sticks with me more.
If I was as drunk as he was, I probably couldn’t find my keys, let alone start my car…. With that being said. It blows my mind that people think that he was even thinking clearly 👀
Especially when you're doing 156 miles an hour I literally cannot stress that enough the dude was doing 156 miles an hour in an area where the speed limit was 40
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. He didn’t mention that one time in the whole video. This wasn’t like, you had a couple drinks, and got in an accident. You were practically street racing yourself!
@@shabberplasm32 I mean, I’m a rare case I do have empathy for him. I made the same mistake and got off far easier. I didn’t kill someone, but I clipped a parked vehicle, and served my time. Mistakes are just that. And you expect them to carry penalties. He will be penalized for a very serious mistake that he made for the rest of his life that took less than 8 hours to foster. It is sad. I can understand why some people do lack sympathy. But that’s maybe a case that I can share with you to maybe expand on how people have sympathy, or more likely empathy for a guy that made a mistake and ended a life; changed his future forever, while the rest of us might’ve spent a weekend or night in jail.
@@shabberplasm32 you can have sympathy while also thinking that he needs to pay the price. There is no harm or weakness in sympathy as long as you remain unbias. Sympathy does not equal being ok with the act or even wanting a lesser sentence, it is simply about understanding.
Donte Stallworth situation was totally different. The night before, he got drunk and had a car service take him home. The next morning he had a hangover and drove to get Tylenol and hit a man who was illegally crossing the street, so it was pedestrian error but he was still legally drunk, hence the charge and eventual settlement to the deceased family. A story to clear up the facts, with your research skills would be great.
I drove drunk before and got tickets a time or 2 but also had times were I should of gotten a ticket. I feel blessed I never did hit no one. I'm not proud of those decisions. I feel for both parties, it is a tragic for everyone, but, Ruggs will have to face the consequences of his actions. Nothing good will ever come out of this whole situation.
@@lukeadkison45 I'm 56 and old enough to remember when drinking and driving was almost a right of passage especially in College, sadly. The problem with Ruggs, his generation had years of ads speaking against it and now alternatives to driving drunk especially when you are rich, maybe that was the problem
Not much of an emphasis on the fact that he was traveling 156MPH just prior to the accident and struck the victim at 127MPH. He was also rolling around doing these other things with a loaded pistol in his car, that really downplays what actually occurred. It really isn't something "that could happen to anyone." as most people aren't pounding a reported 18 shots (still hasn't been confirmed but over a double legal limit 2-3hrs post last beverage would indicate large amounts of consumption) and choosing to drive 156MPH down the road. It also makes it hard to simply mark it a "a mistake" as Ruggs made SEVERAL cognitive choices throughout the night that caused this and cost an innocent person their life.
100% agree. Flemlo, I appreciate you always trying to be calm and understanding of both sides, but I think in this video you let Ruggs off with not nearly enough criticism. I frankly do not care about "how he must feel right now" or "what his family is going through". He killed a woman, and her dog too. There was no mention in the video of the car's speed or of Ruggs's BAC, OR of the loaded gun in the car, all of which are ridiculous and CONSCIOUS choices that Ruggs made. He deserves more than 40 years in prison, straight up.
The gun is a non-factor because it's legal to open carry in Nevada, loaded or not. But as for the driving while drunk, there is no excuse for that. Especially when the NFLPA offers players free rides when they do go partying or drinking.
It's not cognitive if he's impaired. Which implies the DUI he's charged with. Tie that with the fact your own snippet contains no confirmed reports shows why he did the video the way he did it. Until cold hard facts come out, which comes at the end of the case, the video focuses on what is, and not what could be.
@@danielcrews4546 Actually portions show complete cognitive choices, he knowingly consumed alcohol to the point of intoxication while in possession of a firearm (Which began as a sober choice), which is one of the crimes that he was charged with. The video did not bring much of any real mention or emphasis on the speeds, which were confirmed findings. The video, as I pointed out, made multiple downplaying statements calling it a mistake and even going as far as saying it "could happen to anyone" which is completely and utterly factually incorrect.
I love your videos bro, but you sound way more sympathetic for Ruggs than Tintor's family. There's no justification for what he did man. It's not a "mistake", it's a choice. And he deserves to be in prison for 40 years. He made Tina suffer from burning to death because he wanted to be a Nascar driver while probably 4-5 times over the drinking limit going 156 mph in local streets. Keep in mind he tested twice over the limit AFTER 2 hours of the accident. You kept leaving out the speed which differentiates this case from others. Just shows you how selfish and ignorant Ruggs is. Her family will suffer forever and so will Ruggs family, but that's karma from ruggs unfortunately for his terrible selfish decisions. I'm a Raiders fan heartbroken from the whole situation and I used to look up to Ruggs, now I feel like I don't know who that guy is anymore.
His back was 0.17, legal limit where they were was 0.08 which is 2x legal limit. While I absolutely agree with the fact he shouldn't of got in a driver's seat after drinking and at no point ever go that fast outside of being on a legit track. People make mistakes for sure and he is serving time for his which he ended up getting 3-10 years. Probably will do about 26-28 months id guess. He is also only 23 years old let's not act like none of us didn't make mistakes at that age and ever older. Im very saddened by the loss of this lady and her dog and Henry in no way is validated in his choices, but he took accountability for his actions and there's many people that have done this and either gotten very minimal time or none at all, it was a tragedy for everyone involved and impacted many many families, hope this makes this young man think and make better choices in the future and come out on top and become a better and smarter man. 🙏🙏🙏💯
@@FreshTillDeath56 she survived the crash itself, but her car caught on fire and witnesses say she was screaming for help. She basically burned alive since she was trapped in her car
You dropped the ball on this vid man. No mention of the speed of vehicle. It is one of the most important element of this situation. Driving at 154 miles/h in the downtown is beyond indefensible. Drinking and driving is already bad but at that speed you are just asking for worst thing. From what i read she was alive when the car was burning. Henry deserves max, no sympathy.
I agree with this as well; think it's reasonable to compare the cases as FlemLo did at the end of the video as well but to me it looks like Stallworth got off incredibly easy.. as sad as it is for H.R. he made the ultimate mistake and took the life of another. How can that really ever be repaid
FlemLo doesn't mention how fast he was driving, doesn't mention that the woman's dog was in the car with her, and that both survived the crash but BURNT TO DEATH while people were trying and unable to extract them from the car. And he doesn't mention that Ruggs had to have signed off on his lawyer's defense that the REAL culprit in their deaths is the fire department not getting to the scene of the accident quickly enough to save the woman and her dog!! Yeah, f*** Ruggs. Don't like this soft peddling by FlemLo of this situation one bit.
My only critique of the whole video is when you said “everyone had a drink with their steak” You’re minimizing what he did. He wasn’t a little tipsy he was TWICE the legal limit. That ain’t no “I had a beer with my steak”. Dude made a massive mistake with very little thought.
Who gives a shit about costing him everything?? That poor girl suffered the absolute worse death any of us could imagine, she was also doing what any of us could have been doing....driving!!! She didn't ask for this f Henry ruggs!
I don’t feel bad for Henry. It wasn’t a freak accident where he had no control. He was driving 156. More than just a little tipsy he was drunk. I feel bad for his family. I feel the most pain for Tina and her family. Sad case all around but he could have prevented all of this.
The insanity of alcohol. Lose good judgement , only left is bad / no judgement- anything can happen ( a lot is horrible ) Anyone that has drank and driven , can’t judge …… but can thank God 😥
Before I even watch this, I want to say this is the only channel my 12 year old son and I both watch faithfully. Thanks for giving us something to talk about besides fortnite 🖤
The thing is he avoided a breathalyzer for a long time they claim he had a .161 blood alcohol level but he didn't get tested until sometime when he was at the hospital so his b.a.l could have been closer to .300
Anddd Henry is a smaller dude and athlete so alcohol has an even bigger affect on him. I think it's safe to say Ruggs was very drunk and in no way should have been driving. Especially going 156 mph
Alcohol will metabolize at about .015 per hour so the prosecution can provide the jury about what level he was at the time of collision. Extreme dui either way.
Yes it was an accident and yes the whole thing sucks but here’s the problem: Ruggs was going over 150mph on a city street where the limit was probably 40. There is never a reason to go that fast and nothing good can ever come from that. You go to the highway if you wanna fly. This was very bad judgement.
I could be more accepting of Ruggs if he had just got a DUI and hurt himself in a crash but I think the fact that he killed an innocent woman, he needs to be punished. Even if he is sent to prison for many years, it’s deserved. That family will never get Tina back and Ruggs needs to pay for his actions.
I agree man. Alot of people are trying to make it look like its a complete accident and 1 mistake shouldnt ruin his life. But most people would be singing a different tune if they lost someone they love suddenly because someone they dont know wanted to get drunk and drive 150 mph down the road. My best friend in highschools mom was killed by a drunk driver backing out of her driveway. It killed her instantly because the driver was going over 100 mph. His life was devastated along with the rest of his immediate families. She was everything to them and was taken away for no reason because someone else got behind the wheel drunk. I could completely understand if this girls family wants him to be locked up forever their lives are forever ruined.
@@kaipaxton9613 I know which even worse.Everything ive heard is that the poor women was stuck in the car and several people tried to get her out but she was pinned inside. @@coreyhamby2989 Both she AND her dog burned to death. And what really pisses me off if that Ruggs apparently has signed off on his lawyer's arguments that the REAL responsibility for her and her dog's deaths are the fire department not getting to the scene fast enough.

You intentionally left out so much pertinent information. - Ruggs was going 156 mph - Tina was BURNED to death because of the crash - Tina's dog was also killed - The bystanders who tried to get Tina out of the car (but were unable to because of the damage) watched her scream and burn to death causing severe ptsd. Dude, you downplayed this in a big way. Why? This man made a grown up decision that deserves grown up consequences.
I really think there was a reason for that because he is always very factual. I mean we all know how fast he was going. I wonder if it has something to do with UA-cam & it would've caused a strike or demonitized & video taken down because they are so picky with everything. Then his point is lost. I don't know, just can't think of any other reason. He usually does awesome with all the facts.
Yeah as much as I respect Flemlo as a story teller and writer, I do feel as if he left a bit to be desired. You can’t just not mention him driving 156 mph and 127 at point of contact or how that young woman was still alive screaming as Good Samaritans tried to save her. This was a horrifically terrible decision that Ruggs made. At the same time, I remember being 22 as well. You tend to think that you’re invincible and that you’re able to do things that you shouldn’t do.
Yup! I got a DUI 8 years ago. I'm grateful that I didn't kill someone as a result. I went to rehab and haven't drank since. Getting a DUI is a lucky mistake. Killing someone while drunk is murder. Period. Can't believe all the "oh I feel sorry for him too," b.s. Dude jumped in a car FULL drunk, not just "tipsy," and drove 120mph. Someone was BURNED ALIVE as a result of HIS actions. He was pointing a loaded gun at anyone that was on the road that night, with his finger on the trigger. I'm not gonna act surprised and feel bad for the man who ended up bumping the trigger and killing someone. Does it suck? Sure but he should be grateful him and his gf weren't burned alive. I'm glad he didn't but ultimately that is what he "deserved," if we want to talk about that
"he was the one that usually drove, and he felt that if he had been there, none of this would have ever happened." bruh......the more I learn about Ruggs and his whole situation, the more sad it is. edit: and yeah most of us have a few drinks if we go out...but for him to be at .16 hours after the accident means he had more than a few drinks

While I'm inclined to "see both sides" of the situation, I have no patience for drunk drivers. I've had close friends and family either injured severely or worse because of it. There's ZERO excuse to get behind the wheel of a car at twice the legal limit. Do you know how drunk that is? That's STUPID drunk. That's more than half way to .30 which can be fatal. It's just a stupid decision and they needed to plan better if they were both going to be drinking. Donte Stallworth's incident, while a tragedy, and him being a complete moron for doing so, is slightly different in that the person he hit and killed was illegally crossing the street at the time to catch a bus. Donte was stupid for driving drunk, but the guy was late for work and was trying to make up time and compounded the situation. Stallworth also wasn't driving 156 mph at the time either. Tina was just driving home. She BURNED TO DEATH. She was alive and screaming as people tried to rescue her, and that is HORRIFYING! I can't "look at both sides" in this situation. Dude messed up, and he messed up big. He's going to be made an example of, believe me. There's no way he doesn't spend the majority of his adult life behind bars. I don't see 40 years, because we live in a celebrity worship society, and since he's got "a name" it's going to shave some years off, but he's going to get smoked. NO judge, or jury will listen to any of the bystanders that tried to rescue that young lady from burning to death and have patience or lenience on him. Also, I'm a long time viewer, and have enjoyed your content in the past, but did we really need a sponsor in this one? Seriously? I mean, cmon man. It's going to look like you're capitalizing on a true life tragedy to gain a few more bucks. This isn't me being a jerk, or trying to punk ya out. I'm just explaining what it might look like to a lot of people. No offense intended, just holding you to account since it does look a little... slimeballish. 42 years ago, a drunk driver hit and killed my fiancee. I understand what the victim's family is going through, and it will NEVER end for them. Mr. Ruggs didn't just destroy two lives (Tina's dog was also killed) he destroyed her family as well. Obviously none of this was intended, but the results (whether brought about by malice or by negligence) are the same. Mr. Ruggs is a relatively rich man, so it is unlikely he will get anywhere near the maximum penalty for what he has done, and in fact may end up playing football again. Ms. Tintor will never do anything again. I am always drawn to this channel for the excellent quality of the research and FlemLo's superb presentation, but most of all for the wisdom that he consistently shows. I watch FlemLo for his effort to give the benefit of the doubt in situations, but he keeps talking about driving over the limit but it's a combination. He wasn't just cruising down the road, he was going 100+ mph in a 45 mph tops zone, as well as over the limit. Even if he was stone sober and he still drove at that speed and kills this girl he would be looking at time. This isn't a first strike to change his life, this is at minimum two right here, with an extra one for the fact he of all people should've known better. It sucks and I don't want him to not have an options later, but as for the scope of the mistake the life of making 1% money playing at the highest level sport is over. On a side note this kind of behavior was actually a big reason for people in Las Vegas who were pushing against the Raiders move, so the book might be thrown at him. -ON those grounds I don't think it's right, he should be tried like any other adult and not a political mess.

I feel like every time you hear one of these stories it’s usually the people who have nothing to do with the situation that get hurt. Someone decides to drive drunk and it’s an innocent person just living their life ends up losing it. Really sad
Sober drivers prepare for the accident which evidently causes their death while a drunk person has more of a loose body helping them survive. Google about it, it’s an interesting and a good read.
This video is all kinds of wrong. There's no 'mistake' here. The woman didn't lose her life in a second, she burned to death. You don't get to kill someone when you make a calculated decision to drive 156 on a surface street after you decided to do it while completely intoxicated and claim it was an 'accident'. First of all; everyone doesn't have alcoholic beverages when they go out to dinner. If you do, you don't get to drive. Call Uber, call a taxi, call a friend. A few minutes and a few dollars and we wouldn't be discussing this. Your logic is also flawed on the 'over the legal limit' issue. I believe the law states: "....Impaired to the slightest degree....." . But that's just the legal aspect as there is a moral aspect, too. Morally, this situation is horrifying. Legally he will be held accountable. Life is about choices, so cut the bullshit about him being dealt a bad hand. Had he taken the time to strengthen his mind and soul, and not just his biceps perhaps we wouldn't be discussing this in the first place. My heart goes out to the families.

I remember seeing a commercial a long time ago about not drinking and driving. A guy leaves his house and says goodbye to his dog. But he gets into a fatal accident because he was intoxicated behind the wheel. It shows the dog waiting and waiting at home for its owner to return but not knowing the guy will never come back. Watching this video and seeing that the young lady had a dog of her own just brought back that memory and made me remember why I will never drink and drive and it’s a great reminder why everyone else shouldn’t aswell. I hate when people describe situations like this as "two lives lost"...nah...his mama can still see her son. The girl's family can't say the same. His lost potential doesn't compare against a lost life.
Imagine the life he took was your sons life. Would you still be saying poor Henry? Tina was a friend of mine and suffered before she passed. His career shouldn't be taken away? Really?
Far to much sympathy for the killer. His mistake killed someone by burning alive. It's a mistake, a fatal mistake and flem lo is hoping for a short sentence if convicted.

And those who quit because they realize that it was a problem in their life and would likely eventually lead to a situation like this one. *raises hand
Flemlo, no man, no. I cannot agree with your outlook on this one. I cannot feel anything for Ruggs or his family. Someone burned to death and he chose to get drunk and drive 150+ mph. He should get at least 25 years
I usually love your vids FlemLo so thorough and very sympathetic to all concerned a fantastic story teller but to me this particular story felt like you were trying to get some sympathy more toward Henry Ruggs than for the victim. I feel for his family but as for him I have zero sympathy.
It’s just sad. Yes, can you do a video over Dante Stallworth? Also, can you please do a video over Alex Barnes? It’s crazy that he hasn’t made it in the NFL. When a freak of nature bounces around on practice squads like Barnes has, there has to be some stories behind the grind to get there first.

Times like this really makes you ponder on how one decision can change your life forever. Really hope young athletes seeing this today will think before drinking and driving. It was Ruggs this time but it could have been you/them.
Here’s my take, he took someone’s life. I feel so bad for the family that lost their relative, but Riggs is so young and his whole life is now gone forever. I don’t know how to feel.
His life isn't gone forever, Tina's is. He will still wake up in the world he created everyday. I'm saddened that he made such a poor choice but I can't understand feeling bad for him when he still gets to make choices in life.
@@St.CrimsonTweets because some people can feel empathy without believing what he did was right. He should pay a heavy price but I can put myself in his shoes and feel what he feels.
@@St.CrimsonTweets nothing you said prevents people from feeling empathy for a person, even if they did wrong. You can't understand feeling bad for him? Why? It is because you lack the ability to feel empathy. I can put myself in his shoes and feel his pain, both costing Tina her life, his family will not have support that he likely wanted to provide, and his career. You can say his life isn't over but I'd rather be dead than spend 20-40 years in jail. Of course he should spend a lot of time in jail but when you can feel what another person feels that empathy.
@@boomson3082 You can label it a lack of empathy but for me it's the fact that what's being said is "his whole life is now gone forever" because he loses is his reputation, his potential fortune and freedom temporarily, at HIS OWN volition, this will change his life BUT he'll have a chance at redemption on the other side, he can become a public speaker against the dangers of poor decision making or something similar, so again, I do not view it as him "losing his life" (what you would prefer in the situation means little to the facts). The only person who's "life is now gone forever" is the young lady. YES, I feel saddened that he made the decisions he made, but he made them, and so with that I am not saddened by his current "losses". I'll put it this way, I wasn't saddened when the Patriots Hernandez lost his freedom, but I was saddened by the life growing up that lead to him to become what he became.
What blows my mind is, dude is in the NFL which makes him part of the NFLPA. They provide rides for these players at anytime of the day or night, you want a limo you got it. I’m pretty sure even the raiders provide a ride service for these players. Yet he chooses to show off his ride and that would ultimately cost him his career and two lives. It’s absolutely crazy to me knowing that his best friend died in a car accident and Ruggs still made the decision to get in that car, drunk and drive it as fast as he did.
Naw, it sounds about right...
Worry more about yourself
He's lost himself obviously
Especially when you're doing 156 miles an hour I literally cannot stress that enough the dude was doing 156 miles an hour in an area where the speed limit was 40
The fact that some has sympathy for Ruggs is infuriating. He's the sole reason why Tina and her dog burned to death.
@@shabberplasm32 we have no sympathy for regular people and this should be no different
Wish they still had his e60. Was a really good watch on his situation
I wonder how much Ruggs has saved up to get himself an all star defense. I think even if that is the case, it's still going to be multiple years.
@@lukasgestrine if he gets less than 5 years I think he will try to get back into football. It should be at least 10-15 years IMO
@@theplaymaker4392 facts bro. I love flemlo but felt he went way to easy on him.

I agree with this as well; think it's reasonable to compare the cases as FlemLo did at the end of the video as well but to me it looks like Stallworth got off incredibly easy.. as sad as it is for H.R. he made the ultimate mistake and took the life of another. How can that really ever be repaid
Yeah, his girl screaming for EMTs while the girl burns to death is a bad look
FlemLo doesn't mention how fast he was driving, doesn't mention that the woman's dog was in the car with her, and that both survived the crash but BURNT TO DEATH while people were trying and unable to extract them from the car.
And he doesn't mention that Ruggs had to have signed off on his lawyer's defense that the REAL culprit in their deaths is the fire department not getting to the scene of the accident quickly enough to save the woman and her dog!!
Yeah, f*** Ruggs. Don't like this soft peddling by FlemLo of this situation one bit.

I'm just explaining what it might look like to a lot of people. No offense intended, just holding you to account since it does look a little... slimeballish. I've seen people who have done WAYYYYY worse, but I also think it's a little unwarranted for such a heavy topic.

100% agree. It's ridiculous.
Given my own past, it is hard for me to think of Mr. Ruggs as anything other than a villain, by as a result of this video, I am able to see this more as a tragedy for all who were involved. Even the bystanders who tried to rescue her, until the fire overwhelmed them and forced them to retreat, will never be the same after seeing that and being unable to save her.

Hey. I look forward to watching your videos. You have an amazing talent. The research you do on these stories are unmatched and the fact you put your personal insight and thoughts in all situations like what would you. God bless you my guy. Keep doing what you doing. I am a fan of your work
I watch FlemLo for his effort to give the benefit of the doubt in situations, but he keeps talking about driving over the limit but it's a combination.

Watching this video and seeing that the young lady had a dog of her own just brought back that memory and made me remember why I will never drink and drive and it’s a great reminder why everyone else shouldn’t aswell.
The lives that are impacted by these fatal accidents is far greater than we think.
My father in law was an alcoholic. It all comes down to what my mother in law always said. "When the alcohol is in, the brain is out". How does this guy come off saying he has serious injuries. He had minor injuries and was released from the hospital. So, you can't go into a steak house and NOT drink because everyone else is drinking. BS
