Ahsoka has always been my favorite character. If Obi-Wan became more powerful than you could possibly imagine when struck down, then Ahsoka became more free than you could possibly imagine when she left the Jedi.
@@DarthMagog I actually seek others who also Dogs& German Shepherd & Fellow animal lovers& Fellow nerds as friends is that okay Master Magog. ❤️🐕🦺🐕🐩🐶🐾🤓😉❤️
The Jedi royally screwed over Ahsoka. I've had to walk away from both a religious community and a toxic family. Mace Windu was like "being falsely accused of a crime builds character." It's one of my favourite Star Wars moments when she walks away because the Jedi don't deserve her. It still resonates with me.
So glad to see you cover this! I had similar observations when watching the mandalorian. One other thing that really struck me was that Din went against his traditions for the well-being of his son. As someone with fundamentalist parents it was very cathartic. I know it's just silly fantasy, space wizards, but i hope that representation lead to some important real life discussions.
I'm so sorry, I just saw this video, I dont know if I got notified, but I would LOVE a video on the way of the Mandalore! My feelings about it are so complicated. I find a comfort and admiration for the way they care about eachother, don't force thier belifs on other alien races, (but probably on thier own) and it's hard not to admire thier dicipline and resolve as strong and so very honorable. The way they are willing to accept the differences with thier non-beliving mandalore to save thier civilization. Yet, especially with your vids, I can see parallels to high control religions, and it makes me sad being a survivor of such a religion, that gave me burdens I didn't realize were there till I left. A order like that is cool in theory, but usually never works out well in real-life.
Ojo i couldn't have wrote this better myself. I think that is what I liked about being a JW. Being part of something "Elite." Like a Jedi or a Super Saiyan or the Justice League. The ranks and "privileges" just made it seem so much more real. Maybe I should write that Mando vid. Idk, we'll see if we make the goal.
I like that. Got a cheesy Crush 40 quote that goes "When you leap without a net you'll find, it won't be there all the time. So watch your step, don't fall." I think it matches the sentiment pretty well
A lot of people will feel like Anakin, leaving for the "dark side". But I always thought our experience was more Ahsoka. She was wronged, punished, and she saw the truth of the Organization and walked away.
Yeah Ahsoka is certainly a more nuanced take. The binary thinking instilled by Watchtower and similar groups tends to drive us to think we're either "black hearted evil" or "brave hearted heroes" with no inbetween. Tough mentality to shake, but a good one to shake.
@@DarthMagog don't see don't hear no evil black writings on the wall unleash a million faces and one by one they fall black hearted evil brave hearted hero i am all i am all i am...
Most ridiculous thing about the religion really. It's the equivalent of kicking someone out of the family because they married a fan of a rival football club.
Still not sure why he didn't just, ya know, take over Mandalore with the Dark Saber. But I guess he's just a simple man trying to make his way in the Galaxy.
I hated how they made Mando dirty in the third season: it was a perfect opportunity for them to adress the fact that he was groomed as an orphan by a cult of murderers and what they did? They made him a sidekick of a terrorist that caused the destruction of Mandalore and never made amends or tried to redeem herself. They could have used it to send a message about how you have the right to live your own life without being forced to follow beliefs that someone tried to implant into your mind when you were not able to tell lies from truths, yet what we got was another glorification of the message "Follow blindly whatever people tell you, even when they say you are not worthy enough to stay among them despite saving their asses 2 times in a row". But I guess they'll do whatever it takes to sell as many Grogu funko pops as they can. I am so glad I grew up in a non religious family.
Yeah I was surprised they went that route instead of him continuing to fall ass-backwards into Star Wars history. The man literally became the rightful ruler of Mandalore by accident and they didn't run with that? Still love the show, but missed opportunity.
thank you so much for every video you make. it was actually your jehovah's witness and jedi order video that got me back into star wars as ex-fundamentalist/apostate myself and you really do express what i love so much about din and ahsoka as characters, so really. thank you for all the content you put out. would love to see any video you make on the way.
May's a tough month for me so I wasn't able to watch until today, but it's so good (as I expected)! I definitely also saw my journey in Ashoka and Din and I think looking at them helped with my own spiritual deconstruction and reconstruction. Silly enough, but I think Iroh from ATLA also was a good inspiration. I did have a spiritual reconstruction, which I know isn't universal, but I believe some people just work better with some amount of spirituality in their life, and I'm one of them. Still, the lack of feeling like I'm supposed to judge people is so freeing for me. I'm naturally more empathetic, so the judgement was always super forced. On another note, did not expect Vaush! I thought I misheard when I heard his name 😆
I checked the dictionary online, and "apostate" means a person who renounces a religious or political belief or principle. I considered myself as one of them, I have no love for politics, let alone religion. And I represent the Assassin-Templar brotherhood. I already know that the gods are the greatest murderers who ever lived, courtesy of the MCOC (Marvel contest of champions) Mangog. You know what I would say? I don't worship murderers. There's more than one way to tap into the dark side. And there's 2 kinds of truth: one that sets you free, and the other that leaves people buried in darkness, courtesy of Bosch by Michael Connelly.
Late but great! Awesome to see another video from you dude! Lol I am still out of the loop about Star Wars but it's always interesting to hear the similarities you see between the JWs and your favorite fandom. Actually speaking of apostates/ppl who will be branded as such, I'm sure someone has mentioned it to ya by now already, but have you heard of/seen the trailers for that new movie 'You Can Live Forever'? I was pretty surprised when I saw it. I kinda wanna watch it but also I am just imagining how badly the JWs are gonna react when they find out about it... I can just imagine they are gonna denounce it publicly at least and possibly there even might be some kinda panic towards certain sisters/gnc members in general they already had suspicions about. Also it might sound weird but I actually hope the flick doesn't end too happy, like by all means I don't want it to be Brokeback levels of stupid tragic, but I just think that if this is the 'JW movie' most people remember, then I hope it highlights some of the ways people who go against it are mistreated and struggle to spread awareness...
