    Just watched the oil and filter change, on BMW 320i. Well done, good to see excellent engineering practice of cleaning and oil O ring seals and screw threads before re assembly. And not overtightening too! And running engine after to check for any oil leaks.

    Great vid, helped me do my first oil + filter change on my E92!
    Only awkward part was loosening the oil filter cap, but using a pliers to tighten the filter wrench (same type as yours) allowed me to wiggle it free. Did them up somewhat gently afterwards, hoping it's easier next time!

    Same engine car in my garage, n43 headache engine, I love it but it's so hard to maintenance, the low oil pressure, injection, nox , its an animal who eat sparks like a monster, but I love it .. I own a n53 too, beast

      @@Grigorisk8gsxr1000I have previously read that the timing chain guides (which I think are plastic on this car) can break up and fall down partially blocking the oil pick up, which then causes low oil pressure. I could be very wrong and its only a theory based on what I've previously read about these cars. Might be worth exploring / considering.

    • @Grigorisk8gsxr1000
      @Grigorisk8gsxr1000 6 місяців тому

      @bumbleshufflesdiy5908 yes, I have read this too. when this happens, the chain loosens and you can move it from above with your finger. but mine is very tight and the engine works very well, that's the strange. Also many times the oil pressure valve does not work properly. first we will try to change it. and after that we'll see

    There is any problem if I don’t change the elastic bands ?

      Apart from the odd niggle ours has been great. It's never let us down and it hadnt cost that much in maintenance (I've had worse). I read horror stories about these cars after buying it which put me off but I'm glad I bought it. Also it's a great car to drive and handles great (though that may be because its M sport but not sure). Hooe that helps.

      Alternator (£40 ebay) clutch (not fly wheel - LUK £160), injectors (all used Ebay about £80 all in), abs ring (£40 used drive shaft) and a battery. That's all I can remember off hand, certainly all the stuff of note anyway. All over about 4 to 5 years of ownership.

    Getting a squeaky/creaking noise from the steering wheel when I turn with the exact same car. Thought I might have a look at the power steering reservoir, only to find that it's nowhere to be seen? Where are they???

    • @SMega

      3 years late - electric steering possibly and squeek can be found under the rubber surrounding the knuckle where the driveshaft meets

      @@bumbleshufflesdiy5908 Mine have 170k still running strong. But since somme months on cold start i hear 1 sec rattle and then quiet. Im not shure if the stronger V3 will hurt more the chain guide plastics since it has more pressure on it..

    • @bumbleshufflesdiy5908
      @bumbleshufflesdiy5908  4 роки тому +1

      Aye the guides are apparently prone to snapping. I think a rattle at cold start may be an indication of snapped guide but I'm not sure. I read that once they snap they fall into the sump and can cause low oil pressure issues by partially blocking the oil pick up from the sump. Involved enough job replacing the guides. Not one that I'd try at home myself!!

      @@bigdeal87 You have 170k miles on N43!? Do you recon the plastic guides on the timing chain have broke and ended up in your oil pan?

      I have 135k on mine. I think mine is still fine but then again I've never once gotten an oil pressure light on. If I got an oil pressure light I'd be suspecting chain guides. Can u get one of those inspection cameras down the oil filler cap hole to look at the guides to see if you can see and bits missing/ sharp edges were somethings broken off?

      Oh no that's terrible news. I was always afraid of the engine on mine giving up (timing chain guides / oil pressure etc) and that's partly why I got rid of it as I viewed it as a ticking time bomb. What's your next move with yours?
