Stargate had it right. Computers can't keep up with super speed. If he has to mix chemicals as well and check their results, can you even do that at super speed? This bothers me for some reason.
Remember Flash is able to extend their Speed Force Aura to whatever they touch if they want to. Barry is able to do this for people, but ALL speedsters is able to do it for inanimate objects which is why they can just pick up bullets at super speed. So for Barry, any chemical reactions would occur in relation to him as long as he's in contact with it. Doesn't explain the computer though.
@@AsianIdiots323 Fair point! I'll admit to glossing over that, largely because I didn't think computors or computing power would count. But then again if we put really strict rules on it all, then the Flash can't really interact with anything without destroying it.

This is I think the only episode since season 4 that I've legitimately enjoyed. For sure, the only one in season 8 that I haven't cringed at how terribly written the plot and characters are. They focus on Barry, the main character, for once rather than a dozen side plots that only give him a few minutes of screen time.
Your the bad guy aren't you... Omg brought me back to him being mugged in S1 and Barry and Ralph accidentally making the guy shoot himself in I think it was s4... Like it's so funny and he's happy but laced with some well earned arrogance 😂

The guy is caught and nobody gets hurt.
Thank you for noticing the reason why it's hard to write for The Flash regardless of the media he's in. When you have a character that can run near light speed it's hard to make it interesting unless you make it conveniently slow from time to time. While it's a valid point, it would also mean there's no episode whatsoever. So nitpicking aside, it is how it is.
this could have been fixed by making "Why don't I show you." a voice command, no pressing a button needed, and the thingy has already been activated by the time barry realizes he's going to do something
One thing that comes to mind is that Barry is very arrogant in his abilities - he expected no challenge. He also knows that people tend to reveal their plots a lot more when they think they are in control. Finally, the device was said to use gamma radiation, which is essentially photons. The blast occurred with the speed of light, and I guess Barry needs to build up to such a speed.
