I couldn't find a way to message you directly so I will just leave this here and hope you read it. I cannot thank enough. I am a ten year photography graduate working in a dead end job at Burger King. Always felt like a massive failure, until the algorithm gods gave me your channel. You have gave me so much confidence, so much info and education. I feel like I have just graduated again. You've gave me confidence in my own work and style. I hope one day that I will be one of your contamparys and one day will be brave enough to send you a link to my portfolio Again thank you so much for doing this. You may well of changed someone life. Neil.

I like the back and forth talking of these types. Easy to understand impressions like this, I find very helpful.

Try it outside at night. That's why I bought them. Absolutely awesome. You don't need a lot of light if you're trying to blend with ambient at night. And if you try the Godox mount softboxes you'll love it. They pack small because the godox mount is so small making it easy to pack and take with.
Toss in one of the bi color wand lights to add a warm tone for a minimum night hair light or the RGB want for a color effect. It's a really nice set to be able to battery power.
During daylight. It's pretty much worthless. But if you add in 2 ad300's for day light use and 2 of these for night and inside interview video use. You have a great travel kit that both use the small easy to pack Godox mount modifiers. Now if Godox would just release a strip light I'd be happy.
On Pro lighting. I went with Elinchrom ELB's. Had nothing but problems with loss of connections and non linear power additions. Pretty insane when my Godox all perform perfect. And rarely miss. I almost went Broncolor but I didn't like the battery options being limited.
So even though I have a ton of Elinchrom ELB's here to use. I take Godox now exclusively. Easier use, more options, and sad to say they work as good as the pro brands or better.

Excellent, thank you. I am somewhat taken aback that you even tried the Godox brand. Your review of the light is far more promising than I had expected. I’ve been using their flash units for years as they’re affordable and I only take photos to please myself. I look forward to more reviews from you. Much appreciated, Scott.

very cool this type of content, some photos with this light would be good to have some reference but not that it will change the purchase or not of the light. videos with real time of use of the products are much more useful to me that simply simplify the technical data sheet of the products on the day they launch

Hey Scott, I have no Godox equipment whatsoever. However, as I'm in the process of completing a UA-cam studio, I did purchase an Amaran 200x. The Amaran's, from Aputure, are a less expensive version of the Aputure line. I went with the Amaran for the type of usage as it will not be hauled around to client sites. Amarans' lack the tank-like build of an Aputure but I have to admit I was shocked at the quality of the light. The CRI index of the light is remarkable. And the "X" version provides "K" values well below tungsten and way, way beyond daylight values. Plus, it works with the Sidus link. With a proper storage case, which Amaran does NOT provide, this light could easily be used at client sites with careful usage. Most of what I've read surrounding Godox has been positive I have to admit. I'm not happy going with Chinese but I have read nothing but positive with Aputure. I do have a few 650w tungsten Arri's which obviously are built well but I simply cannot justify Arri LED's at this point. I have photographed for a number of years but my video experience is less than one year. At 67 years old it is hard for me to justify the expense of Arri Sky Panels so I anticipate I'll be staying with the Aputure line. Aputure for the road and Amaran for UA-cam studio usage. I appreciate hearing your comments on the Godox as I do trust Tin House product reviews and comments. Thank you for what you do.

I’m a photographer and I’ve been using this with a soft box indoors and it’s work like magic. Maybe not enough power for outdoor. However it has been great as a photography tool. Not sure what you’re talking about bro

I’ve seen more than one video discussing lights similar to this and more powerful, and an attempt to use them for Portrait Lighting. Generally none of them are very good for portraits or studio lighting with umbrellas or on their own. They are very bright, hard on the eyes,, but the light drops off very fast. They usually require a higher iso which increases digital noise.
As you mentioned, someone who has a UA-cam channel or combination type photographer to get something done with portability, they’re good. Very good for the colour temperature.

Thank you very much for your video! I'm looking for a way to set up only one light source for my documentary. I am considering taking Godox ML60. Which stand do you use with that light? I will add a Godox Cs-85D lantern on this light as well.

Informative as usual, Scott. Thanks for posting. Quick question, would that light fit into a Profoto ring? It looks like it's about the right diameter.

Oooohhhh nice man thanks for your video your so sympathetic. Yeah I am considering this for Greek weddings mostly on power and sometimes with the batteries for max 1 hour. Do you think 2 of them would be enough to light the couple indoor 5 meters away? What do you think thanks

Such a great review - thank you! I will get on e of these for food/product and a bit of video work. How big will the difference be with this ML60 to the Godox150? Will you recommend the softbox that is made for this light or can I just use the 95 cm softbox (with a S2 bracket) - or maybe a simple white shoot through umbrella? Thanks a lot in advance 🙏🏻

Godox really is coming for everyone's clientele… Their new pro strobes really are fantastic unless you need 2400W+ out of a pack like you've talked about. But I own three 400 Pros, one 600 Pro, and one 200 for photography. The 400 Pros are adaptable to Profoto, Broncolor, and Elinchrom modifiers, the 400 Pro and 600 Pro both have a Color Accuracy mode for color accuracy just as good as Profoto and Bron, and they both have 0.9s recycle times at full power without CA on and comparatively fast flash durations. The only drawback is very few high power options. I'm wanting two more 400 Pros and a 1200 Pro, but even once I go in for a 1200, it's 2s recycle time at full power. So it seems like so far they cap 0.9s recycle times out at 600 W/s. I rarely get misfires, and both the 600 Pro and 400 Pro have AC adapters sold separately which is what I always use. I'm definitely interested in these LED video lights and REALLY appreciate your review of this one. I plan to get some in the near future if I could stop buying modifiers for two seconds or Pro-1000 printer ink… Also got the 90MP R5s to upgrade to once it comes out. But I really do need some solid video lights and plan to go with Godox! But their different models are vastly different, so reviews like these are crucial! Thanks!!!

Your comments about not using cheap gear for professional jobs make me laugh. I've been in the industry for more than 35 years and have worked on many tv and film productions costing millions. There are always times were cheap gear, whether it be lighting, audio, or grip get used extensively. Stanley Kubrick was famous for using cheap tungsten lights for his films so flatly refusing to take a Godox light on a pro job is just daft. In 2019 I was the stills photographer for a big tv advertising campaign. On one shoot the lighting engineers had spent three days rigging a set with huge scrims only for the Director to throw his teddies out the cot as he couldn't get the look he wanted. He wanted a more intimate, locally lit feel, using small lights and practicals. While we were all waiting ( around 40 of us, including sound, make up, runners, DIT, camera operators, extras and actors) I decided to grab some inpromptu stills. I had an idea of what the Director wanted so I ran to my car, grabbed my (cheap but very effective) Falcon Eyes RX8, and got the main actor to pose up for a few shots. The Director saw what we were doing and immediately came over. He asked if they could use my light, which I agreed, and the shoot resumed. The advert cost £2.4M to produce yet was lit using a £60 battery light from China. The Director didn't care what brand the light was, he was only interested in getting the quality of light he needed. Sometimes the best decision a creative can make is to get his/her head out of his/her arse and stop being pretentious. 99% of clients haven't got a clue what brands of gear are good or not, and having used expensive brands of lighting (including Broncolor, Profoto, Briese and Arri) I can honestly say that these brands are better than Godox, but not so much better that they justify their exorbitant prices. Yes, if your projects involve renting gear, then in most cases you will be renting these brands, but most indies will not need the gear or be able to justify the fees involved. Often Photographers justify their expensive purchases by stating claims of reliability, but I have had both Broncolor and Profoto gear fail on me during high value shoots, so that argument doesn't wash with me. The content of your videos is great, there is some invaluable information, but unfortunately there is also a lot of twaddle that most of us who have been in the industry for more than 5 minutes can see right through.

He literally said he would take Arri because it's a "known quantity...robustness..burn hands at the end of the day". You appear to only heard the part where "when I get paid big money, I turn up with expensive kit". Right after that he says, "if I had it at hand, I would absolutely pull it out." I don't know about him but if I showed up to big budget, I'm taking big budget. Not because it's about looking good or justifying the price tag, but because if things go sideways, I'm not on the hook for bringing an Aputure knock-off.
Even in your own example, they tried the expensive kit first, it didn't work and you had it "at hand" just like he was saying. Is it possible that you maybe heard what you wanted to hear?

Before I got into photography and really understood the difference between crop Sensor and full frame I bought myself a canon m50 with a speedbooster so that I could use EF glass at closer to its original focal length. I recently saw your video about getting started and you recommended a full frame camera. Would you say it’s worth me getting a 5D mark II or should I stick with the M50?
