I just hope they one day go back and make a remaster or even a remake for Assassin's Creed Unity, that game never got it's shine... Blackflag did, hence why a remake wouldn't be that impacting other than the better next gen graphics they could implement but with Unity, they could actually fix all the bugs, fix the combat (the inability to grab an enemy to shield yourself from an incoming gunshot or the lack of a dodge button outside of combat mode and toned down enemy aim bot- like seriously these guys hit me in the chest while I'm jumping from rooftop to rooftop as they watch me fly by), fix the parkour (have side ejects manual instead of contextual and etc) and overall better net code implemented into the game.
I hate the idea that no one likes the moder day narrative, I've always loved it and to me both the modern day and the sci-fi aspects of the games helped them be something much bigger than just a historical fantasy. The deep existential and philosophical questions of the games were always rooted in asking how history, legacy and even mythology influenced our lives when facing real life troubles, and the idea of seeing the past as something that could still affect the present was such an interesting take on the value of history. Instead of seeing the past as something distant and disconnected from us, old AC games always saw history as something alive that was still talking to us. And the idea of Abstergo being an evil corporation that doesn't care about history, just about power, was so interesting and complex. I've always loved the modern day stuff, even in black flag, and I think there's a good size of the fanbase who's only issue with this narrative is that is done so sloppy, not that it exists.
It’s Crazy that some people are sending Death threats to the developers I think it’s wrong and messed up, I get why some people dislike Ubisoft but sending Death threats to video game developers is a little too far don’t you all agree? Yeah, I know, this isn't the first time I've seen a gaming company being send death threats to the developers all because of something they've done, and I agree, even if you disagree with them, it's still never OK to send them death threats.
I dunno, I'm always skeptical about these allegations of death threats. I still remember the indie scene of 15 years ago where every other day devs claim to be sent 'death threats' and it turned out most of them were either false or, in some extreme cases, the devs sent the death threats to themselves to play victim. I'm not disputing whether death threats are wrong or not. It's clear cut death threats are wrong no matter the circumstance. But are there really death threats being sent around? Who knows.

It's a little too much but understandable. When a westerner passes away, he/she would be remembered for 4 generations at most. But in Asia, some families even have a family tree telling them about who their ancestors are. I have seen a family tree with over 10 generations already. And you westerners sent a black guy to Japan slaughtering the imaginary people supposed to be their Ancestors while getting rewarded a title that only a few families could earn with blood of generations, from one of their national heroes. 😂 And guess what? You even told others that the locals are racists for rejecting a "historically accurate Foreign Samurai", while in their notebooks, he is said not to be even a warrior. 😂 And you expect what? If you are doing that to my country, the game will be banned and whoever sells that game can be sentenced years in jail. 😂 Lucky you that Japan is not that strict.
I’m excited for Shadows and I’m really happy too see Ubisoft take the criticism (the game criticism not the racist ones) and try to rework them and make them better.
I hope they don't give up on the modern day story. Ever since desmond died, several loose ends had been building up that still hasn't been resolved, such as juno waiting to return to a physical form, project phoenix, desmond being alive, basim and aletheia possibly finding their children and another natural disaster being around the corner. Also, I loved a lot of the notes and recording in the modern day stories, especially in black flag and rogue, such as the making of the animus and details of the actions of the modern day assassins. I just wish there were stories with more action, adventure, events that would make you take it seriously, basically like the ones with desmond, only better. If shadows fail, then the franchise is done, which would be a shame because assassin's creed always had the potential to be something great, if only handled perfectly.
@@TheDivide_228its very bastardly they they made major modern plot in the form of comics coz not all the fans wanna purchase extra content outside the game
Any one who says there shouldn't be a modernday. Doesn't understand what AC is. If there is no modern day protaganist who uses an Animus to find Isu tech or Isu vaults. Its not an Assassin's Creed game.
It's about there is no payoff for choosing good. Assasins are born from misery or tragedy. Except keyway and Connor. Usually the best are chosen by misfortune and hardship. Trying something new with the modern day means we're coming to the future of assasins creed finally. " Exploring our history "
I'm honestly afraid, ngl. This game will face severe backlash on release, regardless of how good or polished it'll be, and the fact that the people at Ubisoft are becoming aware that this may be their last shot at a truly good experience, after basically years of being completely disconnected from consumers and reality itself, is telling. I'm hoping for an amazing game, but i can't help but be afraid for the franchise's future.
I'm not so worried. Even without Ubi at the helm, no doubt this franchise will be snatched right up by someone else and they'll continue to pump more out. In fact, if it ends up with the right developer/publisher combo, it might even end up better off than with Ubi.
@@ayyyyoman doubt, ac is a dying series yet successful, only major studios could take it on but they would never take that risk, it doesnt have the influence it used to, itd also cost a fortune
@deaftone. They said that about CoD years ago and look how it made a comeback and is bigger than ever. Granted, it's a different genre and target base, there is strong argument that AC is to singleplayer open world experiences what CoD is to multiplayer linear FPS experiences.
Is there any actual source for the claim that they used Chinese architecture? I'm not an expert so I can't know, but it's widely known that Chinese architecture has a lot of influence on Japanese architecture. And the fact that everybody's been saying the same thing over and over again without showing any actual instance of any Chinese architecture being used inappropriately in the Japanese setting, backed by solid proofs, I feel like it's just another shit people made up to fan the flames of the culture war.
Also I don't think they used music with hip-hop style beats specifically for Yasuke just because he's black, I think it's the overall musical direction they took for the game for some reason. Shadows might have the absolute worst soundtrack in the series judging by the tracks they've released so far.
@TheHiddenOne690 , i love the positivity you spreading with Shadows and that you are covering it fairly while most others don't. Keep up the good work and hoping to see more. One thing i hope more people realise: YASUKE'S OST has Trap just like the main theme which is japanese music, Rise of Yasuke has a mix of african, traditional japanese and modern Japanese music "trap" / rock. Assassin's Creed has always mixed modern and old traditional music. The OST is quite diverse with rock, trap, traditional music and so on. I think people going off on it is weird when Quebec made AC Freedom Cry which has only african inspired music. Why do people think they are trying to be malicious or pandering when this is a Japanese game and Trap is JAPANESE there is a difference. Anyway i hope Ubisoft shows something at the Game Awards next month.
It was the balance between Modern Day and Animus Sessions that worked so well in the Desmond games. They just don't have the creativity and intelligence to do that anymore. So they just decided to separate the two instead.
I‘m one of those who was a huge fan of the modern day parts. I couldn’t care less for what happened in the past. Valhalla was the first game that got my attention because of Basim and Eivor and their true self. That’s why I hope they‘ll continue the modern day story from Valhalla.
I think the present day storyline is an integral part of the franchises identity, and the animus gives it that science fiction flavor acting almost like a time traveling machine but with a twist. Ultimately, they dropped it after Desmonds death and Ubisoft seemed to be more concerned with pumping out annual releases then crafting a cohesive present day storyline that interwoven with the ancestor storyline. Why they didn't use Shaun and Rebecca as the protagonists just baffled me.
I feel like the story has to make sense if they want to bring a character like Yasuke into the game. They set a REALLY high bar for bringing him in. So i feel like Yasuke has potential to make Shadows great story wise but they have to really nail it. And tbh, i feel great that the modern day storyline isnt in the game itself and the Infinity Hub existing because ever since AC3 it was atp getting in the way. Thats why i loved Mirage despite it being rushed and short
I will admit I am worried about ac shadows but that’s just me though one thing I do miss is being able to counter kill and hidden blade combat that’s only due to loving the franchise from day one and played every single game since
I started with AC 2, than Brotherhood. For Relvation I had a one Disc with AC1 and knowing, that Relevations ties to Altair in AC1 playing AC1 before Relevations. So I didn´t understand th modern day in first place and was annoyed of it. With AC3 I had a safeile in Sequent 6 or so, but didn´t played for a long time (instead replaying the Ezio Trfilogie in 100 % Aim). But i got spoiled for Desmonds Death, and since then (~ 2017) I start liking the modern day Segment and had a strong motivation, to restart AC3, because I wanted to play the end of Desmond, even I didn´t liked AC3 that much. I studied Chemistry and "inorganic Chemistry" is "Anorganische Chemie" in german, short AC. And I took long for inorganic Chemistry 2 and 3, and there both in winter term. So always when I didn´t wanted to leran AC2 or AC3, I played AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC Relevations or AC3 instead. In Master 2021, the last Inorganic Chemistry compulsory course and playing AC4 for the first Time
@@bindogaming791okay. Ubi should ban haters from buying ACS cause on launch these same haters will crawl back on all 4 beging ubi to let them buy ACS.
When you say "set a new bar" , it means that it needs to be better than the bar that was set by the ezio trilogy, which in my opinion hasn't been reached by any yet. But I hope shadows at least comes close to it.
I'd love to see Basim as our modern day hero. He has a motivation to go into the animus and relive the memories of assassin's who encountered pieces of Eden: to find any kind of lead he can regarding his children. And he can use his knowledge to train and maybe even lead the Assassins to really start fighting Abstergo in more effective ways. But this "new direction" is likely going to be on the levels of Unity and Syndicate skype calls and email reading. Maybe I'm a pessimist but how can I get excited when all Ubisoft does is set up cool ideas and never pay them off?
The modern day needs direction above all else. II introduced the solar flare as well as Desmond working his way through Ezio’s life, the former driving the modern day of III as well as influencing III’s Animus sequences. The Juno plotline post-III really didn’t get a lot of focus and wound up getting resolved in a comicbook series, and the Layla trilogy really could be felt as writing as each game was being developed.
I love Assassins Creed Modern day. I really would like a new looming Abstergo Villian or just treat Otso Berg like he was in the comics, that guy is threat. Would’ve been nice if we had a consistent nuisance like Vidic as a leader with the Black Cross being a physical threat. The Black Cross lore is so cool I’d love to get some Templar games around that. Even Abstergo side modern day if the protagonist was the Black Cross would be cool if they ever want to change things up a little and really push both sides of this modern day war in a unique way. And it’d be a great way to bring back the Instruments of The First Will cult concept that was so lightly touched on in the games. Really give a complex layered narrative to the modern day story.
Hot take, but I think AC should be rebooted as a whole instead of fixing mistakes previous games made (with the modern day and the story overall). What Odysey did destroyed Assassin's creed IMO. It went from historical fantasies to mythology inspired rpgs wchich destroyed the lore of AC. A reboot could start with some remakes of AC1 to AC3 with Desmond not dying in AC3 and a leed up to a modern day game with him, then do other games (and some new ones) until origins, and then... idk lmaoo
I usually don't comment, but I feel I need to say this: I have really low expectations for this game, but I really enjoy watching someone like you, who is far more optimistic. I don't like being in an echo-chamber, and seeing people with different points of view always teaches me something, even if in the end I don't agree. Of course, with this I don't mean that I want you to remain positive no matter what, you expressing your honest thoughts is a must. So, long story short, my point is that I really appreciate you. Keep up the good work.
Hearing that the modern day would make a meaningful return made me happy, and then the mention that it will not be in the games themselves but in Infinty made me snap back to reality…
It's great to see at least Ubisoft has some awareness of what their fans expect. Personally, I have a take it out leave it attitude with modern day. The thing I liked about the modern day with Desmond wasn't just the character, it was the fact that things you did in the animus made a direct impact on the characters in the modern day.
Odyssey Layla Story wasnt that bad, but it rly took a step down in Valhalla except for the end, we need to climb skyscrapers and do leap of faiths off of cranes again!
Yasuke could have been a very strong supporting character but making him the main character was a major mistake. Fans have been asking for a Japanese inspired AC game and then they hit us with a non-Japanese protagonist. It feels like a huge betrayal.
Did you forget about naoe? She's the native protagonist with yasuke as the foreigner protagonist, shadows has two protagonists because the devs wanted two different perspectives on sengoku era japan and since yaskue was also a samurai it allowed the devs to create two different playstyles with naoe as the shinobi for those who like the classic ac and yasuke as the samurai for those who like the modern ac like myself.
@@Grandtemplar305 I have full right to express my opinion. If you crybabies can't take it, maybe go and cry in your mom's basement. Hope Ubisoft goes bankrupt, atleast, they'll leave the beloved AC franchise alone.
It sounds like they have a plan, which is why I’m excited, but I’m still cautiously optimistic for modern day because sure you could still have a plan and everything but that doesn’t mean plans are gonna make it better. But at least they’re thinking about what they’re going to do instead of saying let’s throw something at the wall to see what sticks. That’s why in my opinion of Valhalla’s modern day was the best modern day we’ve had in a while because it seems actually thought out.
I can’t see how anyone can look at the assassins creed game and thing there shouldn’t be any modern day when the whole point is we are someone in modern times experiencing an ancestors life, yes it may be clunky at times but without the modern day stuff you could be playing any action adventure game.
I started with Origins and have played every AC game since. Without exception - every time I'm yanked out of my character into that sanctimonious modern day crap with the Animus I curse and mash the skip button until I can get back to the real game - as I see it. I don't see why AC can't just be a series of Historical Action RPG games without any modern day at all. When I play a game I get really immersed in my character. NOTHING breaks that immersion like suddenly being forced to change who I am, and changing the time I'm in is even worse. Some months ago I heard there will be no Animus in Shadows. I was very relieved to hear that. In this video you stated there will be no modern day in Shadows. If that is true, I am elated! But I've also heard that Ubisoft plans to create a new modern day story line starting with Shadows - how can that be true if there is no modern day in Shadows? I just want to know will I again be randomly yanked out of my character and timeline in Shadows or not?
He says in the video: Shadows will have no modern day, but there is a connected story in Infinity Hub. It's unclear exactly what Infinity will be, but it is supposed to be a place that connects the upcoming games with the modern day storyline. So basically you can play shadows on its own for the historical story, and can use Infinity to see how it all affects the modern day. The exact mechanics are unclear at the moment, but I'm sure it'll get revealed as Shadows gets closer to launch
Is Infinity gonna be this online only hub that will inevitably get shut down after few years? Is it an actual offline game that will get updated with each new game? is it a series of visual novel or comics?
Something I’ve always like about Assassin’s Creed was that the protagonist was never a historical figure, only surrounded by them. This allowed them to take as many liberties as they wanted with the character that way. That’s the problem with Yasuke. He was a real historical figure and for them to jump the gun and make him a samurai it strikes me as odd.
BAFTA - British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Sort of the UK equivalent of the USA's Golden Globes. I only know about it because I remember Goldeneye 007 won an award and their successor game, Perfect Dark, features the BAFTA trophy as an easter egg in the G5 Building mission half way through the campaign.
Unity was actually the first AC game I played and what made me fall in love with AC series. The annoying part to me was always getting stuck when I tried to climb through a window or above it like I'd ALWAYS get caught lol but it was such a fun game. I'm totally hyped for Shadows since I love Japanese history and culture. It will be tough to beat Odyssey tbh that is my favorite game ever. Kassandra is my girl! I enjoyed the modern day with Layla a lot. I like that you can play as both in Shadow as well. I'm a woman so I always try to play female characters when I can. I've only heard a little bit about Yasuke so I am looking forward to the game going into his history. I was sad to hear it was pushed back but it looks like it will be for the better. I hope!
Same! I really enjoyed playing two characters in AC Unity. And I have high hopes for AC Shadows! I feel that main reason for going with Yasuke was to offer something different than Ghost of Tsushima. I really wanna see what they will do with his character.
They’re never going to make everyone happy, that needs to be a given. They also need to recognize that if people are talking about them, even if they are talking poorly, it means Ubisoft is still relevant. Personally would love to see a return to solid story telling above all else. For me, where past releases have fallen short is by spending too much time on mechanics and not telling a story.
My problem really is more the gameplay side of things. I by default don’t trust Quebec anything when it comes to writing so I think by default shadows narrative wise is going to be it. This is something i give Montreal simply because of mcdevitt and Bordeaux because they seem to be a studio full of ac old school fans. My main thing is the gameplay parkour and even combat simply weren’t good in the recent acs (if u less of an make builds or numbers type of guy) it even goes so far that these decisions by the making of the current engine effects all future title Bordeaux tried to implement side ejects like the older ones but the engine simply didn’t allowed them to be non contextual which is crucial by recreating older parkour. Ubisoft needs to be clear what they want from ac and not do the weird middle ground thing they need more cohesion. Or at least make it clear which philosophy which studio have and be strict with it this half hearted stuff only going to increase the list of „mechanics which had potential but never improved on“. Especially with the release of Hexe which again is going to take another route for this franchise.
in gameplay wise I trust Quebec cause syndicate an odyssey gameplay are pretty fun and I heard back in 2022 or 2023 that they have 10 or 11 studios working on ac shadows an Montreal was working on the story while Quebec was working on the gameplay and the rest just helping out and polishing some stuff
@ I don’t know if I can 100% agree with that but what o definitely can say is that Quebec isn’t scared to try something new that means they might be the ones who are in one way or the other pushing the franchise

I dont like the infinity hub if im being honest. They should just conclude the modern story and whatever they're building up for with the templar vs Assasin story with shaun, becca, basim. And then once concluded just start making anthology history games but we'll see I guess.
Ubisoft is really good at being inconsistent in a lot of things that they do. Maybe the modern day this time will be good, maybe not. But does it really matter when they most likely are going to mess it up somehow in future installments?
probably replace him with a samurai from an actual samurai clan to have accuracy all around would probably be better. nothing on the legend on yasuke but an Asian man calling himself a samurai who's not from a clan is similar to a US civilian committing the ultimate form of false valor like at a felony level then the penalty being as severe as terrorism resulting in civilian deaths. if they just made up someone or at the very least used an established Japanese samurai from history just like yasuke they'd be able to sell it in Japan. but ubisoft has been dishonest and caught in that dishonesty more times than their reputations could uphold. I grew up feeling like ezio was a sibling by level of importance. now were in a new era were in the era that killed movies with politics but now it's the video game industries turn to take that samurai blade and shove it thru their stomach as dishonorably as possible and it's depressing to watch.
Sounds to me like they are going to dumb down the modern day part even more.. If that's the case, this will definitely be my last AC game. Been a huge fan since the first AC, but sometimes you just need to let go.
Thanks again for the insight on Assassin's Creed! Do you plan on doing a video for worst sequence in each Assassin's Creed game? I say this just cause you already did a video on the best sequence in each game. Also are you still going to do a what Assassin's Creed Odyssey did right video?
I couldn't care less about the modern day stuff, I hated it in origins/odyssey, and I loved we didn't have none of it in Mirage, also, when playing ghost of tsushima, I didn't say to myself "damn, I wished I could play as someone with jin's memories in the modern time"
Honestly, I think that this game will be a massive success. I'm glad to see that they still care about making a good game and aren't in it solely for the money. The main thing they really need to perfect is the combat from what we saw in the early trailers. The movement looks great, it just needs some refinement, the graphics look great despite what people who just hate Ubisoft say and well the story we have no idea yet. As long as they spend this time and money wisely and listen to the feedback on what us fans have to say, i think it will be a very successful release.
As I black person yasuke having hip hop music while he fights makes sense since hip hop is just the usage of drums to make a “beat” which is something that Africans used heavily in their celebrations and ceremonies. A modern interpretation of African music in a game where you jump back in time to play someone of African ancestry makes sense to me and I liked it. I don’t why people got offended the black guy has black music and the Asian girl gets Asian music.
@ people don’t know what ronin are or what they look like so calling him a samurai would catch more attention and be more understandable for western viewers.

Probably worse than Unity at launch.
We made the main character Black instead of Asian because an Asian main character in an Asian setting wouldn’t feel immersive.
The skibidi one 🔥🔥

The player pool for DragonBall Sparking Zero dropped 90% & only 10% play the game, Ubisoft MUST avoid failure
I hope not Ubisoft have a great character for the modern day use him an they won’t have to worry about losing money

To be honest I want to see more Basim, his interaction with modern Brotherhood and the goal to find his family as he mentioned in Valhalla
A reboot could start with some remakes of AC1 to AC3 with Desmond not dying in AC3 and a leed up to a modern day game with him, then do other games (and some new ones) until origins, and then... idk lmaoo
Love your vids and your support for the ac community, almost everytime i watch an ac vid, you are some where in the comment section
I think assassins creed shadows will be the best rpg game
Hearing that the modern day would make a meaningful return made me happy, and then the mention that it will not be in the games themselves but in Infinty made me snap back to reality…
I can't imagine gaming without Boosteroid now

Here’s the deal, I know already I’ll enjoy just because I have no expectations whatsoever. That freedom brings a strange joy
Modern day IS the reason why AC exists in the first place. Anyone who denies it is absolutely lost in the lore...
With out the modern day is just a regular degular game that’s not unique at all
Yasuke could have been a very strong supporting character but making him the main character was a major mistake.

Great video man 🤘
I started with Origins and have played every AC game since.
@@DylanEldred - That is exactly what I want. Thanks!
They only did it for diversity garbage.
Ohh hell yeahhhh, I am super excited for this game
No matter the hate for this game they are gonna miss out, I am playing this Day 1
Unity was actually the first AC game I played and what made me fall in love with AC series.

During the collectors box promo, I saw the small figures of different assassins on your self, where did you get them??
I’ve been waiting to hear about what they’re planning to do with modern day. I was wondering if they were gonna give up on the modern day stuff lol

Still not thrilled with the Infinity/Animus hub. Just seems useless
I don’t get how thing the game to a modern timeline helps. Imagine being a game developer that’s ignored the success RDR2 or God of War
First ubisoft should fix yasuke face he looks like a last gen npc
probably replace him with a samurai from an actual samurai clan to have accuracy all around would probably be better. nothing on the legend on yasuke but an Asian man calling himself a samurai who's not from a clan is similar to a US civilian committing the ultimate form of false valor like at a felony level then the penalty being as severe as terrorism resulting in civilian deaths. if they just made up someone or at the very least used an established Japanese samurai from history just like yasuke they'd be able to sell it in Japan. but ubisoft has been dishonest and caught in that dishonesty more times than their reputations could uphold. I grew up feeling like ezio was a sibling by level of importance. now were in a new era were in the era that killed movies with politics but now it's the video game industries turn to take that samurai blade and shove it thru their stomach as dishonorably as possible and it's depressing to watch.

Come on dude. The clickbait is clearly saying DESMOND MILES will return. We both know which Desmond is being referred.
@ i believe there is some way that he will be reincarnated or projected in some way like how Minerva, Juno and Jupiter were in the Ezio trilogy
Idk why either only thing i wish is for him to take that dam armor set off and just wear a kimono with a straw hat or something
