I had another Jack it took me a year to figure out the cylinder was stuck. Sometimes it’s simple things that break, the hard thing is knowing where to look👍
Thank you for this simple fix video. My jack stopped working and I filled it up but wouldn't work. Watched your video and got the air out. Works like a charm now.
I hate to say it but this is probably the best video I've ever seen get straight to the video it shows you what to do at the beginning and end and he shows you every step.
Excellent video. I was messing with my Pittsburgh 1.5ton (at least 15 years old) trying to fill it up and making a mess all over. After watching your vid I saw that my valve was also stuck. I used some penetrating oil and a pry bar and loosened it up. Then I was able to fill it, bleed it and get it back to normal operation. All is good. Thanks for the tips.
Awesome video. Quick question, when you were pumping before putting oil, wasn’t there enough oil already? They tell you not to overfill it and I assumed when release pressure is open, and when you pump and the fluid moves, it means it’s enough. I could be wrong.
I used to have the same Pittsburgh 2 ton long reach....loved that thing. Someone decided they needed it more than I did 😞. Lmk if you ever decide to get rid of that one I'll take it off your hands
Same idea with a bottle jack? I somehow introduced air into my largest bottle jack. Now, when you release the pressure on the jack it goes down..but then pops right back up just a little bit at the end of the stroke decompression.
I’ve never have added fluted to the bottle jack, I would have to think that it’s very similar because a floor jack looks like a bottle jack on the side. A couple of years ago I had a floor jack go bad and I thought with it a couple of weeks and I couldn’t get it it was a craftsman floor jack I never got it fixed a friend brought the exact one over with the exact same problem and I thought with it. Those two big heavy floor jacks are still in the scrapyard. They still have me stumped. I want to pull those back out of the scrap yard just to give it another try. It’s a machine it’s gotta give up. I’d have to do some research, that’s so odd that it comes back up at the end.👍👍
I see you have a screw for the port. Mine has a rugger plug that is impossible to put back in once taken out. I tapped for a bolt but the curvature of the cylinder leaks past the bolt when pumping. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? I've tried a couple of different washers and O rings to no avail. I hope someone can help. Thanks, Mark
I don't know if your rubber stopper would still work but I just serviced mine which has one and I ended up having to use a small bit of rod and push right on the middle of it to get it to re seat without splaying out weird
The style of this video is the best, not trying to be clever or funny, no useless info, great video.
Thanks for getting straight to the point. I appreciate videos like this
A really good video that explains clearly the method to fill AND what happens when a cylinder is stuck and how to fix it! Thanks!

Great video, all meat no fat.
Gr8 vid, I went to go jack my my truck and it would go up. After further investigation found that it needed some oil and same. Piston was stuck.
I agree, this is an excellent video.
Thanks
My valve was stuck just like that.
Thanks!💪🏾
Great instructions. Thank you
Excellent video. Thanks bud. 👍 😊
Could i just use transmission fluid in a jack?
Always been curious if it’s safe to W40 that squeak it makes
Thank you. Great succinct info. Subscribed.

Thank you.
Does that screw or bolt that sits on top serve any purpose.
My jack came with a rubber plug ? Is that right ?
Anyone know what size screw is for the oil plug? Lost mine
thanks!
Much appreciated

Mine has a rubber plug as well. I just pushed around the bottom edge with a flathead screwdriver while pushing down on the plug and it popped back in.
After I put mine back on, when I started pumping it, it popped right off
