You can actually feel the heartache that Bono has when he's singing. So many times he nearly breaks down. It's a beautiful song and it was song for a beautiful friend. Michael Hutchence 4eva! U2 ETERNAL
This is quite emotional moment, Bono and Michael were close friends and this concert was on the same day as Michael's funeral to which it was imposible for Bono to go to, you feel the sadness in his voice...
You can tell that Bono feels deeply...and misses deeply. This version goes to Michael, as do many of the future "Gone " performances. RIP Michael...It's heart-wrenching but this is what allows the listener to go to his/her own place...Thanks for everything U2!
Thank you so much, Kekler, that sentence has being on my mind for ages !!! Sure, it was such a pity the loss of such a great man, lead singer Michael Hutchence, rest in peace, long live both U2 and INXS and greetings from spain, friend !!!
@izquemia EXACTO TIENES ABOSOLUTAMENTE TODA LA RAZON POR ESO QUEDO GRABADOD DE MEXICO PARA EL MUNDO...NADA SUPERA AL "LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY"....ES LO MAXIMO ES REDONDO ES PERFECTO.
If you mean from ZooTV years to Pop era, it was something to do with spending excessive time in the desert? I'm going by what the autobiography said (U2 by U2), apparently the he had an allergic reaction to the sand in the American deserts or something like that? Smoking probably doesn't help either...that said, this still sends shivers down my spine (for the right reasons). What a song. What a band.
why play this song for hutchence? It's about two people who are splitting up... who are the same but their differences are too much to overcome. It acknowledges the similarities in all humans, but highlights the almost insurmountable divide two people can create....
"...Is it getting better? Or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you now? You got someone to blame..." damn... bono's speech & the lyric are so meaningful and moving considering how stupidly mike hutchence died...
I think it's fairly safe to say that it has much improved though since the Pop era, although I think age has also taken its toll - his voice was definitely at its pinnacle circa. Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby... :(
Not Santiago, Not buenos aires, Not Rotterdam, is Mexico city the better version of this tour, the reason is simply: THE EMOTIONAL FACTOR the bono's voice was so emotive... ;(
Yeah his voice really is nothing special on this, but Edges guitar is top noch! One of the best guitar performance of "One" ever. Solo at the end is great
Raise the dead. 🥺 Very touching considering its dedicated to Michael Hutchence, INXS lead singer who passed 12 days prior to the recording of this concert.
@fckwful - I agree. Played at many concerts: Do you hear me coming lord, Do you hear me call, Do you hear me knocking, knocking at your door, Do you hear me coming lord, Do you hear me call, Do you see me scratching, will you make me crawl. Often us (this version), or him (360 rose bowl)replaces "me" in the extra lyrics. It's quite similar to the extra with or without you lyrics "we'll shine like stars".
a nice tribute but you can tell that bono's voice isn't as good as it was in the Zoo TV tour. My think it's because he's damaged it by smoking heavily during the Rattle and Hum and espesially the Zoo TV era. It was good to see him regain his voice for the following tours.
@izquemia ALL YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY EXACT REASON THAT WAS RECORDED IN MEXICO TO THE WORLD ... nothing beats the "POPMART LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY IS THE NEXT LEVEL ".... IS PERFECT
He says "I've come here for forgiveness, but I can't raise the dead" He was referring to his friend Michael Hutchence who had killed himself recently. That's why he almost cries :(
u2 are the best...thery're my favourite group since i was born...and although i'm italian they will be the best artist ever...look at this song at those people at this beautiful band....MAGNIFICENT!!!!
Dude, Im a big U2 fan ... but face it ... that performance was rubbish. Even if he did devote it to Hutchence. Doesn't take from the fact that it sucked balls. Boston 2003 though was a completely different affair.
Michael Hutchence died just just 12 days earlier. A very emotional and touching tribute from Bono.
RIP Michael Hutchence
You can actually feel the heartache that Bono has when he's singing. So many times he nearly breaks down. It's a beautiful song and it was song for a beautiful friend.

@SilverDragon1994 and the next time you post a comment make sure to write english properly. ;]

the edge is good guitarist and larry is good drummer,
bono is good singer and
adam is good bass player.
That why that song it's so good.

i saw then in Raleigh NC.and some body say they gon to be in MEXICO CITY . 2 CONCERTS BACK TO BACK IN ESTADIO AZTECA.
they did that in atlanta, too. very surreal walking out realizing michael hutchence was gone.
@TIKOREX
Almost. The best is from rehearsals in 1991. But this is surely the second.
I think this was The Edge's coolest era. It was so cheesy that it was awesome
Could anyone please tell me what Bono says in: "I have come here for forgiveness, but I can't wait (...) " 2:37 Thanks a lot !!!
Raise the dead. 🥺
Very touching considering its dedicated to Michael Hutchence, INXS lead singer who passed 12 days prior to the recording of this concert.
I love this "knocking at your door" -part at the end!!
I was there! So amazing... ♥
Tenia que ser en MEXICO !Viva México¡
Dear God,
Bring back Michael Hutchence and Kurt Cobain PLEASE ..
We will give you the JB-kid and Baby Gaga instead .. !!
Too beautiful for words.
This Isn't A Cover!

Those few who understand music will appreciate this performance!!
This is the most moving version of ONE I have ever seen. I really think the animation on the band helps express the meaning of the song.
@Xephon212 eh... he doesn't play the guitar!!!? I am a fan but this drives me mad... him pretending to play!
04:33 to 05:15 Best guitar solo for "One" ever! Edge never really played it exactly like this ever again.
When Bono Said "For Michael Hutchense" It Made Me remember He Had Just Died. I Hope He's In Heaven!
@Trafalgar76 he is saying in a first person point of view, probably in honor of Michael Hutchence
I'm a Michael Hutchence fan...thank you so much U2
@Xephon212 You mean...pretend...jajaja..L.O.L.. it´s only a Joke..i love it tooo
Live from slane castle is the best live version of one dedicated to his dad bob hewson
I'm in tears...I miss you so much Michael :(
He say "One and one and one is three"
if petrus open the door. this song you will hear in heaven
this is probably the deepest performance on the tour
tear :(
Best version of this song w/ the anthem at the end!!!

Definately the best version I've seen. Beautiful.

This is not a good performance. His voice is awful.
