- Here's a full playthrough of the Pre-SAGE 2020 demo of Sonic Grand Tour (GT). Sonic Grand Tour is a Sonic Fangame made in a very customized version of the bumper engine. There's two new stages in this demo, Sunset Boulevard and Hilltop Zone revamped. Sonic and Mighty are playable.

I had a bug after I beat the game, where the first level's timer broke and I was on mission 3 for some reason. It worked the first time, but yeah it was weird after that. xD

I think the reason why that’s happening is because after bouncing on that ring box @ 0:56 you went over the starting point but that’s just me.
A Sonic fangame but the levels are actually designed around the physics and don’t seem bland 👏🏼
Mare fan games like this one would've been cool! The only one i can think that is like that is sonic utopia but it's just a demo and who knows when it will be finished.
I agree, this is a return to form, the focus on physics and rewarding players higher ground for proper execution is done really well here.
That said, I see that by making the level design so open that it nullifies badniks as any kind of threat. The 2D games knew how to design enemies that would challenge the player in more controlled situations. I would say that's the next design challenge for this kind of game. I hope that Sonic GT considers these kinds of hurdles in the future, there seems to be very little resistance when it comes to enemies.
Hurling projectiles by enemies that sonic can dodge while airborne could work. Maybe a little more maneuverability in the air and certain counters tailor made to deal with different attacks and obstacles.
Finally, some good food. A 3D Sonic fangame that actually has thought, effort and good game design put into it.

It reminds me of Sonic Utopia with how free it seems. And it looks like it'll control well too. ^u^
Though the controls or turning oughta have more freedom like in the adventure titles too
So a couple of things...
1. That might be one of the cleanest looking main menus I've ever seen.
2. Sunset Boulevard looks like something straight out of Spark the Electric Jester 2, honestly. And I'm ok with that.
3. The new levels in general look epic honestly; genuinely can't wait to play them!

Plot: Sonic, Mighty, and Tails have to go all over Space to find the Dark Chaos Emeralds, but then there will be this Alien named “Kid” who wants to get revenge on all Mobians so Sonic and the Gang must defeat “Kid” and during the Battle Sonic turns Super Sonic 4 but then after that Dr. Eggman returns and creates SUPER METAL SONIC, and after that the Dark Emeralds create Omega Chaos.

Man the next sonic game probably won’t be like this which is a shame. This game mixed with project hero would make the best controlling 3D sonic game ever!
Can we talk about the excellent use of physics interacting with the core level design to produce such a thrilling experience to watch??! If I had this fun watching , I could only imagine the fun I’d have playing this.
I’m loving the various pathways. This truly seems like peak 2D sonic momentum elements that got translated to well to 3D.
The level design itself for both stages look like it could serve as multiplayer as well 👀.
This game is literally a 3D incarnation of sonic mania. Speed is a reward and looks fun to speed run
OMG! The level design and the gameplay look so amazing, also I love the animation, especially on the grinding rails! Mighty looks fantastic (I love his redesign) and the idea of a race against tails it's pretty neat. I love the fact that the game is 3D but still has some open-world experience with so many paths to follow and see! This looks like a really genuine sonic game! Can't wait for more updates! Good effort!
When I saw Mighty in the thumbnail, I clicked faster than Sonic himself!

While it’s not my favorite engine, my hat is off to the developers, because this level design is on point!! The animations are solid too. It’s very well made and I hope to see more soon.
I love the fluid freedom of this But I think it's a bit floaty, the level design is the best I have seen in any fan sonic game project, this is shaping up to be one of the best I have seen.
It's floaty on purpose, the level design is built around it. Otherwise some of the jumps may be impossible or near impossible

Totally agree. I think he needs to figure out how to make enemies a threat, there is a severe lack of resistance when it comes to obstacles. I feel like part of Sonic's design is to have these amazing moments of momentum be paced throughout the zone in between moments of tension through either badniks or hazards. This is like 75% of the way there, getting the physics engine right is most of the battle.

Good grief. Everyone said screw making a 2D sonic game. We're going 3D and we are bringing it back to the good shit and making it better. Enhancing it. Not just silly gimmicks
The combo star system is the most brilliant thing I think I've ever seen in any Sonic fangame.

This is absolutely insane. I'm curious to see what kinds of features and challenges were put in to push the player to replay these levels, because they absolutely look like they deserve it. This would be a fantastic template for an official game. Throw in a Kirby-Air-Ride-style achievement system with unlockable content to push the player to play in different ways and I would be totally sold.
This is why Sega relies on the fans a lot

Maybe it's just me but I feel like it would have more character if the quills weren't almost glued to each other.
Maybe they could look more spiky or just slightly flying around?
I love how this is almost like a racing game with all the added moves and skills that sonic has.

This demo has brought a lot of what is the potential of a Sonic game. The sense of freedom in direction and exploring pathways to find more creative methods to get to the goal makes it feel not just what a Sonic game should be like, but what (shush, I know this isn't always a great comparison) of how it feels when you see the hedgehog in some of his older trailers. The sense of freedom of exploring at a fast pace doesn't just emphasize how it feels to be that Sonic in the trailers, but the way you're given a sense of speed without having to be so linear also emphasizes Sonic's CHARACTER, if you know what I mean. The level design has also given to reward that sense of speed, momentum, and freedom all at the same time. Not that this is some magnum opus of every Sonic engine, but it seems like its getting somewhere close.
I'm playin the heck outta this at sage, I have been following this since the beginning even showed up on greedy's streams on the discord chat. So I can't wait to play it. Also did anyone else notice we didn't actually see the entirety of the levels he showed off? I wonder how long these bad boys really are!
I like how it’s open but the main problem here is how easily you can get lost or how their isn’t enough platforming. However I like the use of the physics

If this actually gets completed, then Sonic Robo Blast 2 might actually have a competition. Not complaining though, us fans will have two amazing 3d sonic fan games to play.

Yo I'm actually really impressed. They got 2 huge details down that I've always wanted in one Sonic game that other projects normally get one right not the other:
Have momentum after using a homing attack
And
Leaping off a ramp maintains momentum and translates to additional height
Freaking awesome

Is this the game where Sonic gets turned into a kid again for some reason and has that weird rap as its main theme? Also I think they skipped Z. Welcome to the Grand Tour.
Looks fucking amazing. One thing I would like to hear though is the sound of him running, and the one thing I like to see is a shadow from Sonic bounce off the ground. Maybe some bloom effects. Also maybe some cameras when he hits those loops and big ramps. That's about it.
The music goes great and smoothly with the pace of the game, great job!

Wow this is really great level design
This looks wonderful, and I'm eager to play it some day.
I love how there's a fairly clear direction to go in, but also an emphasis on shortcuts and tricks: and there's just something satisfying about rolling down a slope for more speed.
Having characters with different stats and movement quirks to all function on the same stage is especially interesting.
My only concern is that there seem to be next to no enemies to serve as obstacles: I think having some to avoid or just smash through could make the stages feel more dynamic.
This is soo great cant wait to try it!!

This is awesome!! I just dont like how sonic lands after a jump and his feet is too slow compared to the velocity he is running into, but that is with the engine itself lol
I like l these 3D physics style Sonic demos but this is a standout for having varied gameplay on top of that

FINALLY! A good level design
I like how much more tighter the levels are now! My problem with the last couple of releases that, while fun, it kind of let you get too carried away with flying over large chunks of levels. Now it seem like it has a good balance!
I'm happy with how much the creator improved his game, can't wait to see what else he'll do.
I remember when the first demo came out and I thought the level design was way too aimless but the added levels here look like something out of Electric Jester 2 and I'm all for it.

Yes , there's way too many options to dial everything down. It should be able to be played in modest computers.
