  • Here is a second part of the DJI Osmo Pocket camera
    I changed a few settings and went out and about on 25th December
    the video was much better than my previous video but I am still getting some Jitter when the gimbal pans. I now realise thats framerate problems when editing. the Dji is 30fps and the gopro is 25fps (cannot switch it to 30 but i think thats a Pal NTSC thing) then editing seems to screw things up and brings in jitter.
    However I am still happy with the camera and it has some amazing qualities. I just need to do some investigating and learn from the professionals on youtube.
    here is a link if you want to purchase one

    As others have eluded to, the jitter is due to the shutter speed/frame rate combination. When shooting on auto outdoors, the camera will jack up the shutter speed to account for the bright light. When you have high shutter speeds it causes a “stop motion” type jitter. As a rule of thumb shutter speed should be double your frame rate, ie. 1/60 for 30 FPS, 1/50 for 24 FPS, etc. Even in pro manual mode, though, this probably won’t be doable in bright daylight until they release the ND filters for the camera. Thanks for the video!

    Markus, I like your videos in any way you produce them -- because I like watching and learning from you and listening to your awesome music -- and that to me is the whole point. Folks like you -- who work with and explain equipment -- make UA-cam a valuable asset for me. My videos suck compared to yours, LOL!
    And yes, I enjoyed watching your test video footage as well. I know you have a goal in mind, and I hope you can achieve it.

    hey can you tell me about the 1080p 120fps...can you record 120fps and play it back without it being slowed down? I was thinking if it saved the video that way then I could use twixtor to slow it down or is the 120fps 1080p video slowed down automatically creating just the 1 slow motion video clip?

    Sometimes devices are not free of design flaws. I remember having bought a Panasonic Full HD TM700 camcorder back in 2010, the first consumer device capable of 1080p @60 FPS. It had a floating lens O.I.S. system (Optical Image Stabilization) that was later found to be slightly jittery when the camcorder was pointing down, and also when O.I.S. was turned off. The next model that came out the following year had a different O.I.S. system that corrected this behavior. From what I've been able to gather, the electromagnets that controlled the floating lenses positioning weren't strong enough to account for the total weight of the floating lenses unit, and some undesirable hysteresis movements artifacts occurred in some situations. Maybe the next version of the DJI Osmo Pocket might perform better ?

    • @markusfuller
      @markusfuller  5 років тому

      AlainHubert Hi AlainHubert yes I remember the floating lens problem, trouble is I have soom some magnificent video from other youtubers using this camera that I think maybe im still doing something wrong in the settings ?.

  • @ranzee
    @ranzee 5 років тому

    It'd be nice if DJI made their products "modular" so you can remove the cameras - as I've got a Spark and the camera on that is pretty much identical. Probably been said already, but the panning jitter would significantly improve if you use the highest framerate on your camera. According the DJI specs - it can do 60 fps at 4K and 120 fps at Full HD.

    I'm sure all the other ideas are better than mine but I might as well throw it out there. Is there any stabilization in that camera? Turn it off and see if it is less jittery. I have that problem on my old camcorder. Still loving the music! Nice Jem-jam.

    The walking down the pier.... what frame rate was the camera set to? I see this a lot with dji footage. The jerkiness seems to be caused by the frame rate not being the same as the video frame rate.
    Even 23.98 to 24fps can make it judder.

    The image quality is great, but the stuttering is still there. I don't think it has anything to do with the servo tracking, because it happens when the camera is still - objects moving in front of the stationary camera stutter. This is generally indicative of mismatched framerates (this effect is commonly called "judder").

      Hi, that would certainly cause it, if the two devices are mismatched within the same video you're basically giving the software a hard time. I run all my cameras at 60fps for the smoothest framerate, and match the software for rendering too. Seems perfect for electronics/workbench stuff (EEVBlog records at 4k/60 if you want to see what that looks like).

    I think most TV now is not what it used to be, mainly all shock and awe American rubbish crime series or crappy new style “comedies” or the worst of all and cheapest for the Beeb and other channels, reality and lifestyle TV. I have not owned a TV since 1999, am quite happy to watch all the stuff the Beeb and ITV put out in the 70’s/80’s and 90’s with the things like Lewis and Endeavour thrown in from this century on UA-cam or the net on my computer. Here on Austria it’s largely the same. Rubbish lowest common denominator TV.
    They are targeting younger audiences who have the attention span of Nats which is why the modern tv works as it’s sound bite and opinion over substance and depth. Oh and of course we have youtubers like you who have replaced the likes of tomorrow’s world and the great egg race for intelligent tech stuff. Thanks Markus, happy new year to you and Jason.

    I'm sure you will eventually fix the jitter which is almost certainly due editing it on your PC, and when you post the method you used to correct it then that video, and the previous ones will be very useful to people who are having similar problems. I remember when I first got my DJI phantom 4 drone all my footage was horrible, it was only after I watched a youtube video did I realise it was because I'd left the gimble lock on, if it hadn't been for someone posting it on youtube I might have returned my drone thinking there was something wrong with it!

  • @jbx907
    @jbx907 5 років тому

    Camera settings must still be wrong, theres still a lot of gitter, check you frame rate and shutter speed, if recording jn 30fps, use 1/60 shutter speed.
    If you have the right camera settings and still have gitters, it is the editing software. One thing i noticed is it could be your editing software, the frame rate does not match, when panning you see it more. What are you using edius or premiere or final cut, in edius frame rate is very important or you"ll get gitters when panning, specially when yhe camera does not have 29.97 exact frame rate for 30fps, you"ll have this problems, try using premiere.

      The UA-cam video is running at 25fps. The recording is 30fps. Somewhere there is a down conversion, most likely at editing, to 25fps.
