My aunt had one of these in what i believe was a Plymouth Volare. I was just a kid then and was fascinated by this modern improvement to cars. I though for sure this idea would catch on and become standard issue. If i recall correctly, both radios ran off the standard am/fm antenna and so the CB reception wasnt very good.
Thanks for commenting. The antenna did have a load so it was a sort of decentish CB antenna receiving better than it broadcast. The idea caught on enough that GM had one and AMC. The Ford one was an all in the mic deal with a display on the mic and remote box. Fun stuff from the days of analog!
Not that I am aware of. By this time the under dash era of OEM stuff was about over. You got your stereo radio with 8 track, cassette, or CB as one unit…..there was also an AM only CB unit for those not thinking FM was going to catch on.
Yes it is. While the channel is devoted to guitars I feature some unique electronic pieces and sell them to cover the shipping and insurance costs to bring the audience what I hope are interesting borrowed vintage guitars. The item is on ebay.
