You know those rabbit holes we all fall down accidentally. Well this is the happiest rabbit hole I’ve fell into in a very long while. Thank you 😊 I’m so glad I found your channel. I can’t wait to watch some more of your videos
Hey Barry, I just wanted to say, thank you so much for your content. We are strangers and we'll never meet each other, but you and your family have helped me tremendously for the past 6 months. I wish only the best to all of you.
Perfect timing! My freezer just broke and defrosted everything in it- including my puff pastry dough. I was just looking for recipes to make to use it up! Cruffins for dinner tonight! ( I ate a healthy breakfast)
This is the first time I have seen your show. I LOVE how excited you get about food! I am really into cooking because I love to make people happy with my food just like you are as excited about what you accomplished!
Hey Barry! I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos over the years you are such a top notch UA-camr. Your videos are such a perfect mix of quirky and relatable/ clean and professional. Always a pleasure to sit down and watch whatever madness you're getting up to in the kitchen. Cheers mate, keep on rockin'
A fair while ago, you told me the make and model of the little oven you used when you were building your kitchen, and thanks to that, I cook about 500% more than I used to, and LOVE all your vids, with any and all who want to join, and they always cheer me up, so double the thanks. 👍🏻❤
Delightful video ! Being generally Food Motivated , it was so nice to watch someone who enjoys the process and details as much as I do ! Thank you for time well spent !!!
These look great but puff pastry and croissant dough are different things! The store bought puff pastry has no milk or yeast and likely at least some margarine so it’s never going to be the same colour or consistency as the bread like laminated croissant dough
@@samc2 me too! I’m French and it bothered me that he used that stuff in his pains au chocolat video because if he’s going to use a store bought pastry this isn’t the stuff to buy. It tastes nothing like a croissant and the consistency is nothing like it either. Croissant dough isn’t puff pastry. I’m not sure about in England but refrigerated croissant dough exists. I know I could buy it in the US back in 2005, and we have it here in France.
Ohhhh, that's a great idea for what to make for breakfast on the morning after a holiday dinner with the leftover puff pastry (home or store) after making things like Beef Wellingtons. THANK YOU!!!!
Hiya Berry!!! I think you wife's and girls, are going to be over the moon getting a taste of today's baking. What a fantastic looking batch of cruffin! Thank you so much for the recipe!!!
Had my first Cruffin today at Richoux, around Picadilly London and it was amazing. Had vanilla cream and raspberry about 80% of the way through the Cruffin. Delicious. Deffo need to make some
will guess the difference is: you made Croissant dough, you used Puff pastry dough store bough, similar but not the same. But anyway looks amazing and 100% gonna make those
I'm so going to try this with my rough puff pastry. My family loves it and real puff pastry here in my part of the US is very expensive. Like $7.99 a box. I watch way too much great British bake off and picked up the rough puff and I do a bit of fancier roll up but the layers are incredibly yummy with crab salad or raspberry jam in it.
When you took that first bite, I literally felt the pleasure, lol. I want to make these and appreciate the store bought vs. homemade test. I will bypass the store bought and prepare for a day of cooking that will result in true enjoyment for my efforts. You made me laugh out loud with that one shot of the dog with his tongue stuck out, lol. Loved this video. I liked and subscribed. Great job.
Love a cruffin, went to Riga with friends in 2017 and found an amazing cafe by the river that had several different fillings, I had a toffee flavoured cream with little fudge pieces on top 😋😋😋😋
i had something called Crolls from Aldi once then when went back for more they had none, but so good, they're croissant rolls, when I make my version I buy a croissant pastry roll then instead of opening it up and seperating the triangles to make the croissants, I just slice the roll to right size and cook them like that, seems to work for me, lol.
WOW! You make it so fun and interesting! I have saved all of this and hope to one day give it a go. I mill my own flour and still learning as I go. I am no baker LOL but this is so exciting! Appreciate your enthusiasm
That and the yeast. The dough he made is croissant dough, not actually the same as puff pastry so it was never going to act the same 😅 Jus-Rol puff pastry is also vegan, so no butter or milk.
As someone said below, croissant dough (which is what you made) and puff pastry (homemade or store bought) are completely different things. Puff pastry has no yeast and is just very basic. They will never act the same.
If you look under the description where the recipe is, Barry does use yeast in the list of ingredients for the cruffin recipe. That’s why he let it rest to prove & rise.
Phyllo dough has no yeast or milk. Puff pastry has yeast, milk, and margarine. It doesn't brown the same unless you buy one that is all butter.I can purchase all three of these doughs. Still, nothing beats homemade.
I'm pretty sure I have some puff pastry in my freezer. Might go savoury with some of them though, grated Cheddar and ham (and paprika!) or feta and spinach. Oh, the possibilities.
It's 9:30 pm. I was a little hungry now I'm A LOT hungry. I need these. I'll have to do store bought pastry because of arthritic hands. We have made puff pastry in past. NOW I have inherited a granet table for making pastries because it stays cold. Candy yep got to make some. I'm glad I found you.
I've only ever seen milk being sold in carton boxes or plastic bags. It's only on youtube that I've seen milk in plastic jugs or glass bottles (how cool does this fresh milk delivery system look like though?🤯) for the first time. 😂
I was told that you can wrap the strip of dough around your finger..that way you get more layers and puff up better. I am definitely going to make some.
Wow so much info ♥️ Loooovvveeee it Definitely on my to do list ♥️ Fresh Raspberry jam Toasted almonds ….. So much for getting rid of my muffin top ! Now I’ll have a Cruffin top 🤣 Subscribed and shared👍🏻♥️
These look like Danish breakfast poppy seed rolls, just without the poppy seed sprinkled on top and baked sideways in a muffin tray. It may be easier to just roll the entire sheet and then cut the individual rolls. Personally I would treat it more like a roll and wait with the custard and jam until it was split, for a more even spread. But us danes do loves ourselves an open topped sandwich, so that may be a bias. :)

That first picture with the custard and jam in the cruffin....OMG ❤❤
I don’t know why but the word Cruffin makes me laugh so so much 😂
Sounds like a Harry potter thing
Makes me think of puffins.
I think I've got a dirty mind, Cruffin made me think more of the Carry On films than Harry Potter!
That’s why it is actually called „Cronut“ 🤣
This is the first time I have seen your show. I LOVE how excited you get about food! I am really into cooking because I love to make people happy with my food just like you are as excited about what you accomplished!

I think it was sage or brevill. I don't know which model. They have different ones.
Barry always makes me feel better. This is such a nice, calm, and positive channel. I love being here.
Delightful video !
Being generally Food Motivated , it was so nice to watch someone who enjoys the process and details as much as I do ! Thank you for time well spent !!!
OMG...cant wait to try...and do a cinnamon cruffin, and a lemon custard one...so many possibilities..thank you 🥰

Jus-Rol puff pastry is even vegan. So not got any butter.
I reckon he'll realise in the middle of the night in a few days time.
@aed3646 thank you, I was hoping someone would have said that in the comments!!!

His puff pastry was with sugar and that’s a major reason for a colour difference. Butter or margarine has less impact
I was going to comment exactly that! My husband used to be a chef and he was almost shouting at the telly 😂
St ives bakery know how to make these to perfection.. look amazing these do and they’re certainly addictive
Ohhhh, that's a great idea for what to make for breakfast on the morning after a holiday dinner with the leftover puff pastry (home or store) after making things like Beef Wellingtons.
THANK YOU!!!!
My birthday was 4 days ago New Zealand time and I got given a box of freshly made cruffins with fresh cream , so seeing this is amazing 🎉❤
Love your videos.. hope the family is well
Thanks Crystal :)
Oh wow - I’ve never felt so hungry watching a video. These look absolutely divine. 😋 I LOVE cruffins!
It's making my mouth water. I don't often bake but thus Temps me. They are just beautiful.
Hiya Berry!!! I think you wife's and girls, are going to be over the moon getting a taste of today's baking. What a fantastic looking batch of cruffin! Thank you so much for the recipe!!!
Those look like they'd also be very good filled with plum puree with cinnamon and whipped cream! 😋
That sounds amazing!
That looks wicked good. I needed another excuse to make and eat home made puff pastry.
You make absolutely the most yummiest pastries! Thank you for sharing and keep bringing more ideas for baking.
Thank you for bringing this pastry Heaven into our kitchens, Barry! Amazing! ❤
My tape measure is lime green too lol and I hav pugs too. This is a fantastic treat to make. Good job.
Barry huge congratulations 👏 👏 that was a real work of art so professional looking and bet it tasted much better than anything shop bought.
Those looked super good, congrats Barry

I generally don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I would absolutely demolish all of those! They look ridiculously good!
They look so delicious! I’m sure going to make them!!
WOW! You make it so fun and interesting! I have saved all of this and hope to one day give it a go. I mill my own flour and still learning as I go. I am no baker LOL but this is so exciting! Appreciate your enthusiasm
You should make a Kouign-amann. That's sooooo good!
Yay! A new video! 😁
👍
Guessing the higher sugar content in your homemade dough was what got you the deeper brown... nice one, they look incredible! =)
That and the yeast.
The dough he made is croissant dough, not actually the same as puff pastry so it was never going to act the same 😅

petition for barry to go on great british bake off!🎉❤

I'd use an injector for the custard and jam, but I am lazy. Those look awesome!
Never seen or heard of these before but they look amazing 👀🤤
I'm pretty sure I have some puff pastry in my freezer.
Might go savoury with some of them though, grated Cheddar and ham (and paprika!) or feta and spinach. Oh, the possibilities.
Absolutely amazing! I am going to make those.
I couldn't contain myself when you were squirting in the liquid goodies. SQUIRT IT UP FROM THE BOTTOM!
Well done. These looked good enough to eat!
I haven't had breakfast yet. Can I place an order to go? 😂😁 They look so good!!
I think this would be so much fun to do with my nieces ❤ wanna try this xx
Do like you baking interesting things. How is the kitchen coming along in your garden mate? :)
It has the sink plumbed in on Monday then it's just garnishing it to make it look a bit more alive lol!
Now, that’s an impressive video
It's 9:30 pm. I was a little hungry now I'm A LOT hungry. I need these. I'll have to do store bought pastry because of arthritic hands. We have made puff pastry in past. NOW I have inherited a granet table for making pastries because it stays cold. Candy yep got to make some. I'm glad I found you.
Just lovely ❤ the hack using readymade puff pastry is brilliant 👍
Excellent recipe, they look fantastic! Can't wait to try.
Reminds me of a Crunut which is a cross between a croissant and a donut. We have ones that they fill with Nutella or other yummy fillings.
You have me very interested in trying this Cruffin. Thanks for the video. Montana
BRAVO BARRY!!!
I had these before but stuffed with biscoff spread in a local bakery. Best thing to exist can’t lie 🥰😌
They are inviting; I'll do them tomorrow, but I'll pour inside warm Nutella and whipped cream on top, can't wait!!!
"this is a jug of milk."
:o woaaaah! I thought that was a myth!
Legend has it, these jugs exist everywhere lol
I've only ever seen milk being sold in carton boxes or plastic bags. It's only on youtube that I've seen milk in plastic jugs or glass bottles (how cool does this fresh milk delivery system look like though?🤯) for the first time. 😂

Oh my Heavens.... what a wonderful thing! I couldn't wait for you to take that bite.😅
Omg my mouth is watering right now, they look so delicious 💛
Hi, Barry. We were in holiday in Cornwall two months ago. St. Ives Bakery do the best Cruffins. They're massive and generously filled.
Looks gorgeous! 🥳
5:08 😂 lol. He looks so excited to for a walk. 😁
When I was on Vacation in San Francisco I was introduced to a Sconut - a scone/doughnut- soo delicious
Literally never seen a man so excited by food😂❤
Lemon curd in it could be nice
Barry : "They all got Jam in "
Me : " And I hope you like Jam in too" 😁
Bob Marley Dad Joke for the win. 😁
I now have to make this.
I'd love to see this become a Rainbow Cruffin. Dye the three strips and then wrap them up. I bet they would look very cute!
Our local coffee shop has them from a local bakery, this past weeks has been been a caramak cruffin with caramel cream., They also do cronuts
Gosh darn it Barry, I was not paying attention and got up to check my Samsung washing machine! 😂
I LOVE pastry. My mother used to make rough puff pastry for apple pies. Absolutely delicious. Sadly didn’t get her recipe before she died.
Now I'm going to have to try this 🤤
My local bakery makes something similar looking, but with doughnut dough and just custard, they are called Morning Buns.
OMG I’m drooling ❤
Wow so much info ♥️
Loooovvveeee it
Definitely on my to do list ♥️
Fresh Raspberry jam
Toasted almonds …..
So much for getting rid of my muffin top !
Now I’ll have a Cruffin top 🤣
Subscribed and shared👍🏻♥️
these look amazing~ I wonder how it would be with powdered sugar dusted on top~ And a piping bag might make the filling easier~
WOW so super Vodeo so much Idea for making, I love it so much.💯❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's insane! Yum 😋
Looks absolutely yummy! Any chance the Polish pierogies are coming up soon? Or Brazilian pao de queijo for the taste the world playlist?
Pierogi. It's already plural!
As Yaal already mentioned:
One pierog.
Many pierogi.
Other people also call it piroschki. :)
Looks great
Beautiful! 👏👏👏
I will try to make my own puff pastry
Those look fantastically delicious, well done you?
Barry try using strong bread flour instead of plain. More protein for the rise. Leave it to bulk ferment then roll out.
I’m thinking the pastry should have been stuck together with jam before baking to add just a little more flavour. Great video as always
Use a piping bag and tip to inject the custard and the jam. You'll get a better spread of the filling from the pressure.
These look like Danish breakfast poppy seed rolls, just without the poppy seed sprinkled on top and baked sideways in a muffin tray.
It may be easier to just roll the entire sheet and then cut the individual rolls.

But us danes do loves ourselves an open topped sandwich, so that may be a bias. :)
I might try this! 🎉🎉❤
A bakery I used to frequent did/do a Cronut very similar to these
My son thought it was crumpets and muffins combined. 🤩😋
Do you remember when Tesco sold duffins? It was a doughnut/muffin and was delicious 😋
You had me at cruffin!
