Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Honda e 2020

- Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

I don’t think I saw Japanese cars getting less than 5 stars for quite some time.
Looking at the safery assists they didn't seem to work correctly, but that can be fixed with a software update probably. The bigger problem is that in small cars like this you can't fit a big battery and have to shave off every excess weight to get acceptable range which inherently means there is less weight/substance absorbing the hits.
@@faceless30s Yeah I agree, range anxiety is the thing Honda is struggling I guess.. but since the e has a brand new platform and design, I would assume Honda could have compensated those disadvantages.. maybe not.
It’s disappointing, even though I absolutely love the style of it! Can’t afford it though. lol
You know, Honda has announced that they will team up with GM to manufacture BEVs using GM tech in majority...and you know GM is kinda trash so the safety system not performing up to standards is expected. I mean the latest system used on Fords is subpar so if Honda is using the same one...is bad.

Yeah, Honda has used occupant sensing airbags since 2001. Yet this model is not equipped with them. WTF?

Honda is teaming up with GM in manufacturing BEVs, with GM tech used in majority and GM is kinda trash overall. So if Honda is using the same subpar-meh system GM is making, is not that surprising it fails to work as intended...
@@dimitris.p.kepenos That's the difference between manufacturers, for Honda and GM it's good enough and lets not spent any more money on development. Probably same subpar effort went in to building the rest of the car.

Yes. The first crash you just saw was the new head on crashtest. The new Toyota Yaris was the first car to perform in this new test. So it's normal that the results are getting "worse".
These tests are not even close to what IIHS would come out with they think that's rigorous it represents a passenger vehicle they should have made it represent an SUV

The car tested was Right Hand Drive. The UK still falls under Euro NCAP legislation for safety, even though we aren't part of Europe anymore, the UK is an RHD country.
