    I am living proof that this works.
    I am in a state of a mini shock. I'm at the range at the moment and my hybrid has been unleashed! I've never hit my hybrid so well ever. I can't wait for my next tee time coming up in 3 days. Thanks Mr. ShortGame!!@!@!!!!!

    So I discovered the “feel shut” sensation during the backswing the other day at the range on my own. Practiced that feel with driver and hybrid for 3 days in a row at the range then went and played on the fourth day. Broke 100 for the first time and shot a 93. Can’t wait to go again

      How long did it take you to break 100?

    • @J_pearce01
      @J_pearce01 2 роки тому +1

      @@King12481 I played my first round last summer with rental clubs and loved it. I started piecing together a used set and playing here and there but I was still in nursing school and didn’t have time to commit. At the end of April I was almost done with school so I started actually going to the range. I broke 100 in May and I shot an 86 two weeks ago. So total about a year I guess but really less than that. I’ve been trying to actually get better since April

    I did enjoy this explanation as you nailed an issue I had crept into. Bouncing the club face right at the ball and not hitting down on it is indeed key !

    Great tips we can always use! I've been carrying 3 hybrids for years: 18, 21 & 24 degrees......no need for any iron over a 6 in my bag......if I had hybrids 30 years ago I would have been good!!!

    Excellent !! The first time I watch an expert explaining the motion of an hybrid through the ball! Fortunately, after 30 years of game I can manage it but for most players , they are so often told to play this club like an iron so that they have a vertical attack angle which make them ruining their swing. Very good vid !

      Currently don't own a hybrid. Tried a TSi2 21 deg hybrid at the PGA Tour Superstore in Roswell recently. Snap hooked those babies like crazy. Fitter didn't want to offer any advice, as that would be getting into "lessons" (thanks for nothing, man...well, he lost a sale). Should have recalled this video, as it explains, perfectly, what was going on. You really do have great content and I appreciate all you do.

    I've been playing golf for many many years and never hit a hybrid. I bought both a 3 & 5 hybrid to fill gaps in my bag. Perfect explaination because I’ve determined the same problem with hooking. With the shorter shaft the tendency is to close the face too much with the hands. So I’ve reduced the backswing and limit the use of the wrists thru impact. Thanks for the information.

    Interesting, Matt! I am a newish high handicap golfer, starting to shoot under 100. I tend to be hookish with all clubs , but with hybrids (and I have a few different ones) I get a STUPIDLY massive low duck hook. I'm ok with my 5 wood, but not consistent enough to risk when I really need a long second shot. Desperately want a club I can hit straight 180 -200 yards plus. People tell me hybrids are supposed to be the easiest of any long club, but the results for me are just rubbish - not even good enough to reach 'somebody's pool'! I don't even take them to the driving range any more. I look forward to having another crack with my hybrid - with a couple of these ideas in mind!

    Only got to try this out in b'yard with golf wiffle balls first day with sun and acceptable weather here and things are looking up! Have always struggled with consistency with hb's doing all the 'accepted' practiced 'ways' to get good shots to no avail and I've been through about 5-6 different models trying and was ready to trade my Callaway off again when I tried your method. That hand position and coming into the ball instead of coming down like I believed was the thing to do made all the difference in my trial. Hope to get out tomorrow and try it for real as I really need a hb to get my gaps filled out. I'm a senior golfer now carrying a 12 hdc and if I can get the hb's in play, money!

    OMG Matt! It's like you are directly talking to me. I hate my hybrids because of a duck hook ALL the time. I will apply your advice to my next range session or on the course. I have a quick question. at 3:35, do you apply the "dribble the ball" palm approach to your driver as well? I am having a hard time with my driver nowadays. Anyone else who wants to comment, please do! Thanks!

    I rarely use my hybrid on a fairway unless it’s a dodgy lie. It’s primarily used from the rough and occasionally off the tee on a longer par 3 that may be into the wind. I do hit it well most times but I try and make sure the logo on my glove is facing directly towards the target at impact. It’s the one club in my bag that I always seem to swing the smoothest. Great video Matt. Always enjoy watching.

    Excellent video on correctly hitting the hybrid Matt! I carry a 3 hybrid and mostly use it for shots just short of fairway wood distances and for trouble shots in areas off of the fairway that don't have very good lies. I find that it is a very useful club needed in every amateurs bag!

    Thank you for the explanation. As I’ve recently changed sets. I dropped the 4 and 5 irons and replaced them with a 4 and 5 hybrid clubs. For me , I didn’t really feel the need to change swings and have hit them the same as I did with the irons these replaced. The biggest difference I noticed straight away was much more control and forgiveness. 👍😎🇦🇺

    Someone told me to pretend like I’m holding a serving platter with my right hand which always caused me to take the club face outside with an open face. Your description of dribbling a ball saved my takeaway.

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil 2 роки тому

      If you keep your right palm facing down on the initial part of the takeaway, and then continue this right wrist/palm orientation all the way to the top, you will end up with your right palm facing the sky - just like you are holding a serving tray. As you transition from backswing to downswing, keep your right palm pointed to the sky initially, then pointed straight backwards as you approach second parallel, and then down again as you come into impact - the world of slicing then will forever be in your past. The best way I have found to drill this into your brain is to remove your left-hand from the club, and then practice swinging very very slowly, with just your right hand on the club, keeping the palm first facing down, then straight back, then to the sky, then straight back, then down again coming into impact. It's a life-changer - nothing, absolutely nothing, will change your swing faster than doing this one slow practice movement.
