The caste system in India is a complex social hierarchy that has been deeply ingrained in Indian society for centuries. At its core, it divides people into distinct social groups or castes, traditionally based on occupation and birth. The system is hierarchical, with some castes considered "higher" or "purer" than others.
The Mizo and Naga tribes are not considered untouchable castes. They are indigenous ethnic groups residing primarily in the northeastern region of India, with the Nagas predominantly inhabiting the state of Nagaland and parts of neighboring states, and the Mizos primarily residing in the state of Mizoram.
The concept of untouchability is historically associated with the caste system prevalent in other parts of India, where certain castes were considered "untouchable" and subjected to social discrimination and exclusion from various aspects of society. However, the Naga and Mizo communities have their distinct cultural traditions, customs, and social structures, which are different from the traditional caste system found in other regions of India.
Historically, there were four main castes:
Brahmins: The priestly caste responsible for religious rituals and teaching.
Kshatriyas: The warrior and ruler caste, responsible for protection and governance.
Vaishyas: The merchant and artisan caste, responsible for trade and commerce.
Shudras: The laborer caste, responsible for manual and menial tasks.
Outside of these four main castes were the Dalits, also known as "untouchables" or "Scheduled Castes," who were historically marginalized and subjected to severe social discrimination. They performed the most menial and degrading tasks, such as cleaning streets and handling dead bodies.
While the caste system has been officially abolished in India's constitution, its influence persists in many aspects of Indian society, including marriage, education, and employment. Discrimination based on caste, known as casteism, still exists, particularly in rural areas and among certain communities.
Efforts to address caste-based discrimination and uplift marginalized castes continue, with affirmative action programs and social movements advocating for equality and social justice. However, the caste system remains a deeply entrenched aspect of Indian society, presenting ongoing challenges to achieving true social equality and inclusivity.

It’s thankful that you have clarified the misconception that Bihari Khan Sir had given. I had also watched that video of Khan Sir and it made me furious. Back then these two warring tribes were never untouchable. We have our own great history, culture and customs. Untouchability prevails only within Hinduism; so, back then we weren’t hindu nor Indian. We lived peacefully within our own territories under our wise Chiefs. Later only we were included under the British territory and we fought two world wars for them and after independence we fought multiple wars for India. I am a Mizo, I am an Indian and I am not an untouchable

Untouchable was invented by the aryans , the foreigners. Whether adivasis, dalits, nagas, mizo Or any other tribals, they are indigenous inhabitants of this land. Especially among the mongoloid, there is no untouchable. If we are untouchable, they too are untouchable for us.

By your write up I am absolutely sure that You know nothing about the Tribal welfare committee 1952 of the Government of India there are four categories of Tribes they are:
      (1) Tribal communities : adhering to traditional patterns of life who lived in a specific area for 1000 of years and are the indigenous people of that land.
      (2) Semi-tribal communities (although these communities have settled down in rural areas by engaging in agriculture and other allied activities, but by living amongst the Hindus, who follow a jati-varna system, the tribal communities have also considered themselves as a form of castes by engrossing themselves into the concepts of purity and pollution, that are keys to the jati-varna system);
      (3) acculturated tribal communities (these communities have migrated to urban and semi-urban communities in order to work in formal organisations)
      (4) assimilated tribes (these groups have assimilated into the wider world and have now de-tribalised themselves)
In the light of these categories the tribes of North East broadly falls under the first category we have nothing to do with your Brahminical Culture of Varna System in fact we are the native to our concern state. Rest of ya'll are the outsiders and we considered you as the 2nd class citizens.

There were only 3 states in north east- Assam, and the princely states of Manipur and Tripura. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland were part of the larger territory of Assam. Eventually, they got separated to form their own distinct states.

@@TheTopicalTalks The tribals of Arunachal, mizoram or Nagaland were never under the rule of ahoms or any other kingdoms. Despite of many attempts to capture the land of tribals by Ahoms, they failed to do so. Instead, Our Arunachalee tribes used to raid on some plain areas of Assam to gain resources which later forced ahoms to make an agreement with tribals in which they will send us resources such as food or any other usable things for keeping peace in the region. Britishers just draw their boundaries and put these States into Assam.

@@Tarozhou That's true that our Arunachal wasn't part of India and doesn't have any relation with India historically but also we weren't under the control of any outside kingdoms. Just some parts of tawang was under Tibetan Kingdom but the rest 95% part of tribals areas were always free from outside dominance. We used to engaged in inter-tribe wars to expand one's own territory. There have been some very gruesome wars happened between my (Nyishi tribe) and Apatani tribe which have been told by my grandparents.

Tribe is a social group, it has no relation with caste system.
Infact every human race had their humble beginnings from a tribal society and as their population grew, upgraded to kingdoms & empires.

I doubt that, as a Khasi tribal and along with my kin the Jaintias, we were not considered untouchables for a simple reason, Hinduism was not the religion of ours. It was only in 1500AD with the emergence of the Khasi &Jaintia Kingdom which conquered some fringes of the Hindu dominated plain areas of Assam and Bangladesh (more prominently the Jaintia Kingdom) that we were exposed to Hinduism. While Hindu influence is present in the Jaintia Niam tre religion, it is almost absent in the Khasi Niam Tynrai. So the Idea of the Varna system is absent. On top of that, the Plains people were only exposed to tribal kings and warriors or traders who traded in the markets (Haats) the ideas of the Khasi &Jaintia tribals being untouchables, was absent. By the time there were sizable non -tribal Hindu population in Shillong, when it became the capital of undivided Assam, much of the local population were already Christians. So frankly speaking, this concept of NE tribals being untouchables is a fairly recent idea propounded by some vested interest.

You are wrong about one thing about the Nagas, we are not animists or pagan,we don't follow that religion, we believe in monotheism . That is one creator God in heaven who is father of all and one big bad evil in the land of the death that is destructive, our customs and traditions are similar to ancient Judaism having all sorts of rites and rituals, that is why when the missionaries came and preached the gospel , everyone figured out that it is where they belonged, and also our society never kept slaves , head hunting is purely as 'trophies ', inter tribal warfare is solely for land grabbing, despite that every naga tribe is independent of each other and the society runs on democracy,The nagas are one of the few societies in history that practiced democracy,.

It is just stupid to describe some specific ethnic communities as Mongol race these days. You make it seems like we have some kind of geonology connection with the Mongols which we do not. If you want to know more about Mizo as one ethnic group, go read Chin ethnic group from Burma too. Our community is divided into India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and states too. We have a state in two different countries. Chin-Mizo-Kuki is one of the largest tribal group in this region, bigger than Naga and Meitei combine. Thats why we cannot be intimidated by an group. Assam police were finding out the hard way by loosing around ten policemen. We are also fighting Burmese army in Chin State as we speak. This is who we are. I am Mizo.

This practice "untouchable" Is clearly seen and practiced by the main land land people, which is prevalent even today in some rural or backward areas, in fact it's divided into four sects such as Brahmans, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Sudras, the sudras are rhe lower caste and are considered as untouchables even today, thats why shame on you to call Nagas as untouchables, you have to study the history of the Nagas and you will know
