  • The Pink Cliffs are located at Heathcote, in Central Victoria, and are a throwback to the Gold Rush era, when mining ruled the region!
    The short, easy walk to the cliffs is appropriate for people of all ages, and there is a lot to see with lots of native flowers and various different kinds of wildlife calling the area home!
    Located just over an hour north-west of Melbourne, the Pink Cliffs makes for a great day trip out of the city!

      Thank you!! We couldn't get out this weekend just been, so the episode coming out tonight is a Top 9 Hikes for beginners list. It's a bit of a recap of a lot of the trails we've done over the last couple of years. Probably put the most amount of work into this one coming so I hope it's enjoyable! Always nervous releasing videos I've tried really hard to make lol

    Great movie people! Those old miners sure weren't into mine site rehabilitation. Check out the book "Sludge" to find out just how much they devastated the Victorian landscape. You should next go to Vaughan to see the "Red Knob" gold mining enviro catastrophe! Happy travels!

    • @theadventuresofzoomandbettie
      @theadventuresofzoomandbettie  3 роки тому

      That looks super interesting! I didn't know about the Red Knob place until now! The photos on google look awesome! And yes you are so right. I'll keep an eye out for that book! My family are from mining, with my mother growing up on the opal fields and then around the time I was born, my grandparents moved to the golden triangle where Grandpa ran a gold mining set up. It was only small and not super successful lol - but it did open my eyes a bit about what goes on! I don't think he really cared too much for the landscapes more than he had to, to be honest. He closed that up around 1995 from memory.

      @@theadventuresofzoomandbettie My great grandfather was foreman of the Shamrock Goldmining Company in Bendigo in 1895. He was the son of an Irish convict so I come from good stock! The mine was on New Chum Reef, corner Ophir and Old High Street. A local gal like you probably can find that spot. ☘️

      I have super soft baby feet that don't do well on rocks and stuff, so water shoes are the bees knees for me! I forget them often, but when I have them it's so good! LOVE yabbies!! We used to go yabbying all the time as kids! The nets I have are illegal now, so I really should get some new ones. Have big long term plans to get a dam at the new house and put yabbies in!
