    This travel vlog I am doing solo female vanlife. I see what it is like to go solo and spend a couple of days in the Sussex countryside. I get to experience the worst of vanlife when someone steals my spot and breaks my table in the process. Apart from that, it was a great experience of solitude in nature with kayaking, a campfire and a trip to the bluebell railway. I would love to do solo vanlife again but on a bigger adventure next time.

    I found Beans a week ago, and love watching your channel. I have been considering living in a van for the last year. I purchased a van in May, and plan to give notice in August to both my leasing agency where I rent and my part-time job. I just turned 63 last week and I'm anxious to begin my journey. Wish me luck 🤞!

      @@davidf2118 Wow, so you think it's abandoned stuff, but you'd pick it up and dump it somewhere else?? Leaving a table and chair out to keep your spot is standard practice and who are you to say it's old and tatty?? There's no excuse for it ... it's simply selfish, despicable behaviour.

      Yes, you'd think that in the English countryside you'd be safe from selfish morons ruining your happy day, but obviously not. Confrontation?...best avoided like the plague , it can lead to physical harm, even death in some cases. In this instance the chance or their moving and paying for the damaged table would've been very remote, best to just park somewhere else and move on.

    I'm actually really impressed Em , that you didn't let the 'Pitch Stealers' spoil your time. But in actual fact what they did with your stuff is criminal damage! And downright disrespectful! But.. on a lighter note, yes given the opportunity I'd do what you've done. I think that in any relationship, the time you spend apart is as important as the time you spend together. You appreciate each other more that way I think.

    Way to go Emma! I think it’s very important in any relationship to have ‘me’ time and get away and push yourself outside your comfort zone.
    I do a lot of mountaineering and I remember the first time I pushed myself to go solo in the Italian dolomites for 2 weeks.
    Solitude is good for the sole, and it sounds like this trip has now given you the confidence to go on some more solo trips.

    I traveled to Rome, Italy, for my first-time solo trip. I was terrified! With each new day, I met the most wonderful people and had amazing adventures! I decided that I liked waking up each morning and decided to do whatever would bring me joy! It wasn’t a group decision! I grew so much from that solo trip! Since then, I have visited Iceland, Italy (Train from Rome to Venice!), and Ireland! I never really feel alone, because of the people that I meet along the way. Someone once asked me how I have such great adventures, and I told them that it’s a matter of being open to new possibilities and saying yes to your fears! Thanks for sharing your first solo trip! You’re already an over comer! 👍

      Brilliant! I used to work as a waitress when I was young, and a wise older waitress once told me, "when you get a mean customer who's treating you badly, should you get mad and give 'em hell? Absolutely not. You kill them with kindness. You treat them in a manner so sickeningly sweet that you kill them with sugar poisoning. Trust me, it works! You go away from the experience feeling fabulous, and they end up deservedly frustrated that they weren't able to hurt you like they wanted to." And of course she was right. It's also super funny in retrospect, so the memory becomes most enjoyable.

    I loved watching this. :) You had so much fun by yourself which was great. :) I would have been totally p'd off if someone broke my stuff and stole my spot, but I guess I would have said something, only when you're alone, ugh. That's hard. I probably would have done the same, just found my happy place despite all. So, tomorrow I embark on my own solo journey and this video has helped immensely because I am freaked out. I'm a single mom. I have two teenage daughters and I am adopting a toddler daughter soon, so...one of my kiddos has severe special needs and she is going to music camp for two weeks, (this is a big deal) my oldest daughter is already at theater camp for a month. I'll be traveling from Los Angeles to Albuquerque New Mexico to be near my youngest daughter in case something goes wrong, I can be there, BUT this is my first time being alone in 15 years. I am so scared, I'll be in a new city without my kids. I'm excited because after the baby comes I'll probably not be alone again, but nervous as it's been so long. Thank you for inspiring me and this journey. I feel better prepared to step foot on my own adventure. :) We love to camp and do it all the time so a #JackerySolarWay would be lovely, but more this was inpsiring and helpful as I am just about to venture into the unknown...alone

    I've had the same: Went out for the day and a group moved all my stuff and plotted up where I'd been. I'm guessing it's package holidayers frustrated by COVID who don't know how to behave.

    Absolutely thrilled for you, Emma! It’s very easy to stay within your comfort zone and not do things out of fear or anxiety. I found the UA-cam channel when you were first searching for a van in the US. I was so shocked and frustrated for you and Alex when Frank caught fire. Im so glad you’re still doing can life in the UK. I have dreams to build a van myself someday and watching you really gives me confidence that I could do so by myself like you did. #JackerySolarWay

    Definitely feel you should both do more solo trips. It’s good to have that “me time” as a couple. You need it to develop your own strengths and see your own weaknesses. It will give you more interesting videos to share and help you personally grow. It was especially helpful to us solo females to see how you CORRECTLY handled that situation with the campsite thief and vandal. Thank you for openly sharing how you really felt, how to handle it wisely, and how you worked to pull yourself out of a funk about it to enjoy the rest of your trip. Please plan to throw in more solo trips when you can.😃Excellent job!

    Loved seeing your solo video and you did a good job filming! My boyfriend and I have watched you guys for a couple years. You have come a long way and it is wonderful seeing you so happy. We did wonder what Alex was up to though. Maybe if you do more solo ventures, you could do a couple clips of what Alex is doing? We think that would be hilarious! Thank you for continuing content even when things are rough. Love Travel Beans!

      I love my set up...hope you manage to win as it does so much for independence. Also a solo camper (with dogs) and I love it...mostly wild camping in the camper vs campsites. I've always offered to have other solo women join me to help them build confidence in being out wild camping alone as not all of them have the confidence to do so....love to bring women of all kinds into this kind of strength and empowerment

    I’m so proud of you Emma and yet I’m absolutely not surprised that you had such a successful trip! I’m proud of Alex as well because I’d have been a wreck worrying about you! On the other hand he knows you much better than we do and I suspect never doubted you’d be fantastic.
    As to your scoundrel neighbors, I was impressed with your restraint because I’m embarrassed to admit that I would have needed to at least ask them why. It occurred to me that they might have viewed your “place holder” as abandoned equipment and treated it as such. Then I told myself “NO”, they knew what they were doing. It’s best that you did what you did. I admire you even more!
    Much love to you both! 💖

    • @rlmartinusa
      @rlmartinusa 2 роки тому +2

      @@imokaart I agree except what purpose would it have served? Either they’d have been embarrassed and would have felt horrible (Benefit of the doubt here. Also, I’m certain Emma would have felt bad for making them feel bad.) Or, they knew what they were doing but didn’t care because now they were set and wouldn’t be moving. Now what???

    • @sandieM27
      @sandieM27 2 роки тому +1

      @@rlmartinusa so you just let people do what they want with no one saying one word about their behaviour? Like I said above, it doesn't have to be a full on fight but expressing yourself is best so that at the very least they may think twice one day. What happens one day this couple blithely moves someone stuff and then some burly brute comes back and gives them a punch in the face for their rudeness? They need to know it's not on.

    That was a great vlog Emma. Sometimes it’s nice to do things solo. It’s reaffirmed what you like and don’t like about yourself. Going off and spending time on your own was something you’ve enjoyed in the past and still do. The tricky situation where the couple stole your spot was something that festered longer than it would have done if Alex was there to talk through what to do. I probably would have gone over in the middle of the night and let a couple of their tyres down 😂. I think the mini adventure was a brilliant success. well done you.

      With you on that one. I probably wouldn't have confronted them because if they weren't suitably apologetic, and let's face it those sort of people never are, I wouldn't have taken it well. Revenge is a dish best served cold, in the small hours of the morning...

    Love, love, love this video! I’ve taken our teardrop out for solo adventures with our two dogs. My feelings are very similar-I love spending time alone, love the confidence I build from tackling the trip alone (from the drive into the forest to the set up, etc. We live in Colorado, and the access roads can be pretty tough!), but also miss enjoying that time with my husband. It’s also a good reminder of how many tasks he takes on when we camp and makes me very appreciative🥰 Thanks for another great video!

    That was such a great solo adventure video I’m really surprised you didn’t say anything to the pitch invader especially after damaging your table maybe that’s me being a bit more straight to the point I mean you did leave your items there after all I have seen other campers leave a little sign when leaving there pitch for the day looks like a wet floor sign but for campers saying just nipped out be back shortly with a picture of your van it might sound silly but I guess that’s what we have to do keep up the great videos beans #jackerysoloway
