7:30 This point here about the type of victory always bugs me with the game. Game says, "You used up a lot of you balance of power shooting all your ammunition so even though you took 10 losses against 1,000 kills we're going to give you a close victory." I sit there thinking... Yeah game, that's the point. I spent a lot of ammo so I wouldn't spend lives.
The main point is had the enemy thrown another army at that point, without ammo most of your troops are significantly weaker, few archer units fight as well in melee, and most of them are either High elf or Kislev, so the game says "Hey if there was more to fight, you'd be losing"
@@saintpres4ge533 That doesn't make sense either. You ALREADY won, its not like the ammo spent is reflected in the next battle even within the same turn. And yeah, most archers ain't good melee units, they're not the worst though, the worst ones are inanimate dead units of any type.
@@GamerAccounts-s7s True, but the calculation is in that battle, if it was 4 armies not 3, if the enemy didn't break etc. It also calculates as archers losing 50% of their balance of power by spending the first 20% of their ammo or something It's like how having a lord or hero waste all enemy ammo shifts the balance of power a ton because those units lose their value as their ammo drops.

"What you can put one banner from another army to another?!" My honest reaction. How have I not known this? How long has this been in the game? Was it always there?!
One of the things I find really helpful is the way you talk through your thinking. You make mistakes, talk through them, you look around, you reconsider. It's excellent.
Magic just isn't as easy as it used to be 😂 i remember the days when the Ai didn't avoid magic at all. Now, they can dodge artillery and magic bombardments with ease.
Remember, when fighting high elves, they will make a spear wall, and behind the first spear wall is another spear wall, and behind the second spear wall is, you guessed it, another spear wall.
Exactly, skarbrand is a Bruiser but he's also a demon, fight smart, even as simple as concentrated ranged attacks, and he'll eventually beat himself through morale loss, especially because usually the AI sticks him into a fight and leaves him there instead of moving him around.
Vlad is definitely harder to kill. Skarbrand is so large that he's easy to shoot. Plus Skarbrand is easy to occupy with trash infantry where Vlad is a spellcaster making it dangerous to surround him. Archaon is probably the hardest unit to kill when you don't have mages or missile troops. The only thing that makes Vlad manageable is the fact that he's slow and doesn't have a mount. He's easy to kite unlike Archaon who's super fast.
7:24 I've always been kinda curious about how the game determines which victory type to give you. I've had a few cases where I was fighting against a vampire army and completely wiped them out while only suffering a few casualties of my own, only to be given a 'close victory' in the post battle screen.
Its also about initial odds, if the game thinks you will get your ass beat and still kill them with minimal casualties and low ammo spend you might get a heroic victory.
I believe it’s determined by the Balance of Power, which takes into account how much ammunition (and Winds of Magic?) you spend as well as how many casualties you inflict and suffer. Not an expert on how it’s calculated, but you see Legend manipulating it in almost every battle.
@@dembro27 Yep, if you have an army of archer spam, and they loose all of their arrows, and kill all the enemies, the game might see that as your forces losing 70% combat effectiveness even with 0 casualties. That's a "phyrric victory" because you "lost" most of your army. Of course, losing 70% of your melee army is a lot worse than losing all of your ammo, but the game's a bit silly like that.
using ammunition loses you balance of power, even if you take no casualties if you spend all your ammo you will get a pyrric victory. hope this helps. each unit has power, units with ammo lose power level the more ammo they spend, hence they take "losses" to their power rating
Hey Legend. In the last part of the Video you said something like "Always take important skills first, but also level up your charakters as you want". Sometimes i don't know what skills are important and what skills are not. I want to level up important skills first, but simply fail to do so because i don't know better.
The special skills are usually the important ones. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter if 2 more Melee Attack or Leadership but a skill that gives you faction wide buffs or a unique ability (like infinite ammo for archers) is more valuable
Context for your skills matter. Like what enemies will you be facing? What army am I building for this lord? Some of it just takes practice, but what legend usually means by that is there’s usually an optimal way to level, but unless you’re playing a faction with a tough start on very hard, some players can get away with not worrying about the most optimal level path
It's very context dependent. If you are likely fighting Greenskins then you probably want to rush Lightning Strike to deny their Waagh armies. Generally you want to prioritize the skills that globally boost your faction or make a large portion of your army better, but there are occasions where the lord really needs to be a better fighter. Magic can be get you hundreds of kills even in the early game, so it is often worth focusing on that with caster lords, particularly big AOE spells. However, if you already have a good caster hero in the army then you can prioritize the other trees first.
For almost every magic user, magic is an early priority. Next up, for all of the LLs, as soon as the special line is available, it provides the biggest buffs (some rare exceptions apply but those are just bad/old LLs that need overhauled). The next thing is, focus only on two skill sets for armies- based on comp; basic infantry, boost them. Elite infantry, boost them (rarely both). Arty heavy army, boost arty. Missile heavy army, boost them. Get to the temporary buff (+MD or +MA) and basically never put another point in army comp. Get lightning strike early unless always running with reserve forces. Lords' combat skills are almost always last priority, unless it's an extremely combat heavy LL.
Hey Legend. Casually mentioning that if you put the faction you're fighting as in the title, it'd be easier to search your library for how you pull off feats with specific factions. Like if I wanted to see only crazy plays from Vampire counts or High elves. Ex: High Elves - A Staunch Line of Spears
I think they did actually patch in the ability to point blank fire spells like magic missile. Not sure if you know that and there's another reason why you said you can't use it in melee, but I thought I'd mention anyway. There's so much too this game that a small detail like that in an update is easily overlooked or forgotten
does 1st-person control of artillery still work by pressing the "Insert" key? It takes a fair amount of your attention away from the battle at large, but you can shift/rotate your front line to create a clear line of sight wherever their forces are thickest, then manually fire right into the center of their formation every couple seconds. Line of sight does more damage, with less risk of friendly fire if you manually control it at a close range. Usually my entire defensive formation is designed to funnel the enemy into a cauldron 50 yards in front of my artillery.
Note to Legend: They mega-nerfed Vlad's damage immunity. He's now just annoying, not completely unkillable. He can in fact be shot with pistoliers, handgunners, or gyrocopters, whatever you may have on hand. Not super efficient but if you've got 6+ units of ranged stuff with heaps of ammo then it should be enough to overcome him, assuming you can make him stand still for a moment.
