This chick was my female super hero. I was in high school when I got a hold of miseducation. It was my senior year, and I was already singing, BUT when I heard Lauryn voice, I melted. I miss her, and still a #1 fan.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS WOMAN! I hope and pray all is well with her and that the world gets the opportunity to experience her greatness again. I still bump The Miseducation in my car on a regular -it never comes out of the rotation in the disc changer lol. I'm really thinking about taking a trip to Miami to see one of her upcoming shows even though I don't 100% feel this sped up version of the performances I've seen of her recently -it doesn't take away how hard I still ride for her.
thats what im saying! I am soooo excited! This has added soo much happiness to my world with just the prospect of another album or being able to see her live! Thanks for sharing!
HER ALBUM CAME OUT WHEN I WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL, I REMEMBER WALKING THROUGH THE HALLS OF MY SCHOOL HEARING HER MUSIC. I''M 26 NOW , AND I GET SO DISAPPOINTED WITH ALOT OF THE MUSIC I HERE TODAY. ITS LIKE THE GOOD MUSIC HARDLY EVER GETS RADIO PLAY. I CAN'T WAIT FOR HER RETURN. I BELIEVE ITS TIME FOR GOOD MUSIC TO MAKE A COME BACK.
It's time... to come back Lauryn. I bought the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album when I was in the fourth grade ('98). I remember it like it was yesterday. I didn't feel like going to school so me and my mama went to the mall instead. We went to Sam Goody Music store and I told her to buy the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album for me and she did.
Her solo album dropped when i was grade 7 and all her music has been in constant rotation from then to now and will always be. Cant wait for her new stuff and to just hear her growth and maturity.
I'm so glad she's coming back to the recording studio! Alright Lauryn..time to show these little girls from Hollywood what it really means to be a true artist..lets go!
HER VOICE IS HITTIN' ALL SORTS OF RANGES!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE AND HEAR WHATEVER SHE HAS TO SAY WITH HER FRESH TO DEATH ESSENCE!! SHE IS JUST FABULOUS.... PERIOD!! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS 🙏 SPIRIT OF GOD WITHIN US ALL DAY LONG 🙏 LOVE IS LOVE 💛 EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING 🙌
stand for the right please lauryn, damn there's none left in that spirit.............................. all the love sis, IN PATHWAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS THERE IS NO DEATH, BLESS US MOST HIGH! PROTECT HER.
FINALLY i knew she was ok, i prayed for her.......she was jus goin through some personal stuff...... theres a reason why she beleives its time to start recording again, OUR FATHER THE MOST HIGH is calling her out again, she knows what time it is, and she knows who she is as well as all of us black people in america (the whole point of her song ZION was a message, she said one day you will understand)......shes about to bring some more truth........ SHALOM FAMILY
I can't wait. It's been a long ride and life can be hard and you go through twists and turns but eventually you have to come back home to the stage. ;)
Oh what a wonderful time for a breeze to sweep through like Lauryn....when most artist on the radio today are just cranking out mediocracy year after year...we need as a people and personally me as a lover of music...music that means something and teaches something....the voice and words of Lauryn Hill. I would have loved for her to do a hip hop album...but I'm not picky or boxing her in. I'm just glad she's back.
Lauryn, we need you to step up again and speak for those who have no voice. you are a bonafide legend out here, you have respect like Aretha, and can easily put to shame these clowns.
She just needed to be a mom for a while. BUt she is crazy for thinking she wasnt really singing before b/c she threw down on miseducation. Beautiful and Talented, I hope she never has to go through anymore lawsuits and achieves all her personal goals. I will be there to cope the first new album!:)
I love you Lauryn, you are truly a beautiful brown Queen love the hair and all of the gifts that God bestowed upon you. I miss your authenticity; we lack this in the industry at present.
In 2011 I will be working on a script and I want Lauryn for the lead role. Don't want anyone else for this part. I so LOVE her spirit. And she needs an acting come back. The songtress IS COMING BACK.
i will always be a fan of this intelligent, articulate, & beautiful woman, even if i understand her less in her current state. i'm happy she's looking to re-record, but i feel kind of scared for her (i know i shouldn't), bc The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a HUUUUUUGE challenge to follow-up. i think this is also D'Angelo's issue as well, w/ his brilliant album of Voodoo. So i would just hope that all fellow fans just accept whatever new music she makes as just HER, not Miseducation part II
@arab3515 You exemplify a love for Lauryn that goes beyond the description of being a "fan"... as do I... How often do you hear of people PRAYING for their favorite musician? The "fans" of Lauryn Hill DO. Why? There is something about this woman that has made a very deep and PERMANENT affect on people. One album was all it took to make US a lover of her for LIFE. If she never released another album, those who love her would never fade in their love. GOD BLESS LAURYN HILL!!!!!
@Guttahkidd08 I know the feeling... I think about her coming back and it makes me feel overwhelmed. If Lauryn never made another album I will feel like part of my life wasn't fulfilled. LOL... I LOVE ME SOME LAURYN!
We have had to always be Chameleons as a consequence we can talk how we like to who ever we like when it suits us, and you know what it doesn't really matter! Lauryn Hill is one of the best singer songwriters of our time, so she's been missin, Hey Bringing up 5 children must be her priority, i'll wait for her as long as it takes, I won't have the music industry dictating to me what they think she is or what her mental state is. What a Joy she is, What a Wonder she is!
@matthewgsteel She considers her art a voice for the black youth and she has said that herself. She does music for the black people.. But music does surpasses race so thats why she has fans all over the world..
That's one gorgeous woman, inwardly and outward. Her voice and message are as beautiful as she is. Momma, we need your music again. Real music is rare today--ESPECIALLY with black musicians today! (Lil Wayne, you're a joke! You too, Drake!) ...And them five kids are mine--sorry, Rohan.
@Qeautyful hah...same thing happened to me. I'm 27 and I love her music very much. I was in highschool as well, when the album was released......and I agree with what you say about music of now days
You know what I find sad... That in 2010 with a black president.....People Still see color....as an issue...fighting over who she sings for.. I am white... I love her ... she is pure beauty....One of the best telents ever to be in the World.. Also it should not matter what color you are her speaking out on color is not what I am talking about..but because there is racist and other issues with skin many still feel for hate to themselves or others because of skin and there are still racist people.
@SupaFlyRadYo We're not going to attack you ( I'm not anyway), but you're wrong about her using urban dialect when talking to other ethnic people. Just search for "lauryn hill interviews" on youtube and you will see. In most of her interviews, she speaks intelligently.
@rebelrouser444 yes, i pray for her because i know who she is, and i know of her importance in the black rebel communities, SHE IS A MODERN DAY PROPHETESS OF THE MOST HIGH. AND SHES NOT THE ONLY ONE. but yes, i can understand how strong your feelings for her is because i feel the same way
She says she wants to sing more, but then when she does a show she mostly raps, and she raps loud, so she's straining her voice. If she wants to sing more, she'd better take care of her voice and not shout so much from the stage. If she keeps that up, her singing voice will suffer.
This is not a thorough interview- more of the interviewer pontificating and adulating her heroine- The interview is on NPR's site THIS IS NOT AN INTERVIEW!!!!!
@dredlock3000 yes it is man, sure theres still artists out there that try to keep it real but it'll never go back to the way it was, and its a dam dam shame, depressing actually, especially for cats like me that missed out on that era, all i got is commercial shit on the radio all up in my face everywhere
the only thing L needs in her music TODAY is a drum. that's it. her lyrics today are just as relevant as they were on miseducation. I'm just mad at her because I feel like she abandoned us when we needed her the most in music.
@SupaFlyRadYo When I'm with Jews, I speak as a Jew. When I'm with Greeks, then as a Greek. (a little apostle Paul there) There's nothin' wrong with that. Sometimes you're just more comfortable with "loosening the belt" with some (like homeys) than with others. And sometimes, you get tired of it. (I do) If I met the President (and HE'S black), he wouldn't dare hear me speak with my "urban dialect." Maybe she just matured some. Maybe as a mom now, she just WANTS to speak English properly.
@69Razak69 why would i come listen to wat u have to say when im not even frm south africa?? im from west africa, thats where a small PART of my history is......i could really care less about what the majority of african got to say about me because most of them dont like us negros anyway, and yes i respect tht u listen to ur grandparents, but they can only tell you so much with so little time, there will come a time when you will have to start reading for urself. not all books are zionist.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY OMG>>>>I BIIIN DYIN FA LBOOGIE TO BLESS D HIPHOP N SOUL INDUSTRY >>>YOOO I CAAAAANT W*!!!! SHE GUNNA STORM BY ALL DZ SO CALLED "BARBIE" "FEM MC'S' NO PROB!!! D BEST FEM MC IZ LBOOGIE PERIOD....POINT BLANK!!!

Please come back Lauryn..NO one holds a candle to you and your depth.

She's still a phenomenal inner-attainer!!!
We have had to always be Chameleons as a consequence we can talk how we like to who ever we like when it suits us, and you know what it doesn't really matter!

I watched the same video and she didn't sound like she was struggling to me. She just sounds a little different, her voice has matured thats it.
I saw her in tht summer jam concert..Idk..maybe it was the video but it looked like she was kind of struggling.
That's one gorgeous woman, inwardly and outward. Her voice and message are as beautiful as she is. Momma, we need your music again. Real music is rare today--ESPECIALLY with black musicians today! (Lil Wayne, you're a joke! You too, Drake!)
