Description:
Join us as we explore Gemma's unique tiny house, affectionately named 'The Casita.' In this exclusive tour, Gemma shares her journey towards minimalism and the creative process of building her own cozy abode with the help of her dad. This is a story of passion, simplicity, and the joy of living small.
Tour Highlights:
The Kitchen: Gemma starts the tour with her simplistic yet functional kitchen. She has embraced a back-to-basics approach with a two-burner gas stove, an LPG tank, and a deep sink salvaged from an old restaurant. The kitchen embodies Gemma's minimalist cooking style and features clever storage solutions.
Sustainable Living Elements: Notice the eco-friendly aspects like the small USB-powered fridge, solar panels, and a gray water system that emphasizes Gemma's commitment to a sustainable lifestyle.
Dining and Living Area: The dining area doubles as a workspace, featuring a multifunctional table and storage drawers. The living area is adorned with crystals, earthy elements, and a cherished writing bureau inherited from Gemma's grandfather, blending functionality with personal sentiment.
Fireplace and Heating: Witness the transformation brought by a fireplace made from a 9kg gas bottle, turning Gemma's house into a warm haven during colder months.
Cost-Effective Building Strategies: Gemma shares insights into how she and her dad used innovative, cost-effective methods to build 'The Casita,' keeping the overall expenses around $22,000 USD. This included using MDF instead of plywood and accepting community donations for insulation.
Loft Bedroom: The cozy loft features a window with beautiful views, ample storage, and is accessible via a secure, bolted ladder. It's a perfect example of efficient use of space in tiny house design.
Bathroom: The tiny bathroom includes a compost toilet and a narrow shower, illustrating how small spaces can still cater to essential needs effectively.
Outdoor Living: Gemma takes us outside to her pallet deck, a cactus garden, and her experimental vegetable garden, showcasing her love for the outdoors and homegrown produce.
Rainwater Collection System: Simple yet functional, this system exemplifies Gemma's approach to sustainable living, catering to her gardening needs.
Gemma's Tiny House Philosophy:
Gemma reflects on her transition from backpacking to tiny house living, highlighting her preference for simplicity, functionality, and personal space.
She emphasizes the importance of truly understanding and committing to the tiny house lifestyle before taking the plunge.
Conclusion:
Gemma's tiny house 'The Casita' is more than just a living space; it's a testament to her journey towards a simpler, more sustainable life. Her story is inspiring for anyone considering a shift to tiny living, proving that with creativity and determination, you can create a beautiful, functional home that aligns with your values.

Dads are awesome!
If you’re lucky to have a good one, give him a hug!
The tiny home a lovely expression of you. It fits your needs very well. I love the big window, what a great find. Thanks for sharing your home with us and may you enjoy it for many years to come!
I love this little house! I really like the simple kitchen and bathroom and the big windows really make it special letting so much nice light in. I also love the coloring and siding on the outside of it. It has everything you need and is perfect for living simply. So nice your dad was able to help build it with you! thank you for giving us the tour!
Wait I've met this girl some years ago! She is so sweet and kind. And this house is like an extension of her. I really enjoyed watching this clip.
Awesome all you need is love and tiny house ❤😊
Great father daughter project built for less than the average very well used RV! Love the simple design and subtle accents throughout! Very interesting lady as well! Great video!
This is definitely a very unique looking tiny house

💞🏘️🏘️🏘️🏘️💞
Congrats on your lovely home! 👍
Lovely & cozy Casita!
Here watching thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! :)
I enjoyed the tour 💜 but I was triggered a bit when the host mentioned she didn’t “like wasting money or spending money on rent”. I’m fairly certain that many of us would rather **Not** have to be caught in the Rent Rat Trap, but it is what it is. I believe if one is fortunate enough to own a piece of land (or can live on family land) then one can truly count themselves as **Blessed**. Pray for the rest of us.
This is what all tiny homes should be like - money saving, reusing materials, self-built, simple, unique, and just shining with the owner's personality. Just can't stand tiny homes costing $200,000, standard design, all shiny and looking unlived in, and built with a lot of wastage going against the reason the tiny house movement started in the first place.
Please show us more homes built with cost saving materials and unique designs. I love this tiny. May the sweet lady enjoy good health and happiness in her cosy home. Love the wood stove too. Is the maker in Auckland? Would love to get one.
I agree. I enjoy the more rustic tiny homes as well.
So great, best tiny I have seen to date. energy is so calm.
Love it!! Amazing job
So unique happy 4 her Enjoy!!! Lovely home
I like that
Good job
Beautiful, simple home. Thank you for sharing.
Hello how are you doing today
A sweet, cozy little home that has all the essentials you need. It also has nice little touches with the Indian flute, crystals, Ganesha, swinging hammock, and comfy bed-couch. Love your outdoor garden too! Jenny
Very smart for saving
Finally a tiny house that vibes with me ❤
Thanks for sharing nice little tiny, I would definitely want a larger bathroom not much room to sit.
It’s where I do my best thinking. I don’t take phone in. Eww.
Beautiful home❤
Hello Kimberly how are you doing today
Very beautiful and attractive small house, impressive design and affordable price
Your home is lovely and peaceful. Good health and sunshine.
Beautiful tiny home. I live in a 150sq foot container home and I love it too.
I don’t know how you can do without a refrigerator though. Mine is small but I really need it
Beautiful 🥰😍 schoolie!!!
Beautiful ❤
Love your place and you have two sleeping areas.👍
Good for you!! Well-done. You will certainly enjoy your garden, too!
Beautiful story.
I would have thought her 4 solar panels would supply sufficient power to run/charge everything.
I didn't understand about the water, did you sink a well? I understand you are collecting rain water for watering your plants.
As she said, three or four days of rain/ cloud the solar panels cannot change without sun. It pays to have a generator as backup.
she also mentioned running a hose over to that yellow barrel as well as having running water for the two sinks and shower - so there must be running water hooked up to her trailer 🇨🇦🙏
Love the big windows!
SUPER COOL 😎
What are the dimensions? Width? Length? Height? (Total sq. ft.)
A major expense many tiny trailer people don't talk about is the land on which they are living. Did they buy it? Rent the land? Or are they just living off of others.?
Great question!! I’m glad you brought it up because where one may be able to escape or avoid “wasting money on rent”, if you don’t own the land on which your Tiny Home sits, then evidently money has to be put toward **Renting** that land unless it’s bought outright. If I had a choice tho I’d rather rent land that I could perhaps own somewhere down the line.
wow! excellent life project... and also beautiful woman, congratulations
Awesome!👍😎🇨🇦
That is a big window. Never see any like that for sale.
AAAAAH, THE GOOD LIFE 👍🏻 ❤
I'd love to live in a tiny! I'd have more things. Lol
It’s lovely and beautiful, but never gets too comfortable that you miss the chance to have a family, be strong and courageous even to build a new family when you have this has your own space now. God bless you indeed.
💖
❤
Fabulous home! Very small footprint. Watching from Ottawa Ontario 🇨🇦
Holy huge knives, batgirl!
😳🔪🔪🔪🔪👀
People in vans have full refrigerators. You totally could have fit it.
She said she didn’t need one but I definitely need my fridge🤷🏼♀
Too small for me but to each there own
It’s called tiny home for a reason. Watch a big house channel then it will be your size and you can say positive things. Her home is beautiful and just right for her. Be happy for that!!
@@Beretta99woah…breathe. One person likes 300’. One likes 600’. Commenter’s opinion entitled without shame. Take Care
Do you really live here, if Awesome for U👍
Gas? Nope.😂. I'm done.
It sucks to see the way people are being forced into tiny homes! Inflation around the world have gotten crazy in the last 5 year's.
For your health, I would suggest remove the shoes from under your bed to somewhere near the entrance. Better not having your “shrine” next to your bed too. Of course just suggestions. Too many people don’t know what kind of spirits they invited into themselves but that manifested into sicknesses. So just take care indeed.
Lovely home ❤
