- Alan White is a rock musician best known for his work with Yes, who he joined in 1972. After playing with a number of bands in his youth, White was approached by John Lennon in 1969 to join the new band he was forming. He then travelled to Toronto to play the first ever Plastic Ono Band live concert, and later contributed drums to the single 'Instant Karma' and the album 'Imagine'. In this interview he discusses his time with Lennon.
I saw Alan play at the Edgewater Inn in Seattle where he lives. He played with a band ‘The Nowhere Men’ too celebrate a Beatles anniversary! I did meet him and got his autograph! So happy to be a Yes fan!
and Alan finally said"Yes"!
"Yes"!😁
Lennon was a great talent scout.
Good point. He discovered Paul McCartney as well. John had his band, the QuarryMen, and invited Paul to join after hearing him play to him after their performance at a village fete, whatever that is. I am sure you know the story. But, I always looked at it that way. It was John’s band. He also decided to let George in, as well, after hearing him play to them many times and hang around Paul and them a lot.
I guess you can count with one hand the musicians who received a call from John Lennon saying "do you want to play with me?".
yes and he payed eric clapton with a drawing of him and yoko
Rest in peace my brother

I want to know how Alan White lost his English accent?
Dave Mason TOTALLY lost his....he's been in the U.S. since the 70's.
From living in the states and getting tired of strangers asking him about his accent!
