  • The PurePower® PW1000G engine slashes aircraft noise footprints by up to 75 percent. At up to 20 decibels below today's strictest standards, the PurePower® engine is the quietest engine in its class. Listen to how Pratt & Whitney's Geared Turbofan™ engine is changing everything. Play the video to hear the noise difference during takeoff between a conventional engine and the PurePower® engine.

LOL, the "Conventional engine" is a CFM-56 for sure.

    I’d love the conventional engines

Who doesn't like a nice and loud roaring engine, it gives a better atmosphere at the airport when planespotting and a better demonstration of the pure power! I love loud engines!

+Conor010 Aviation Channel ✈✈ Loud engines are much less nice when you live underneath the San Diego airport landing approach.

Those of us who would prefer a little shut-eye under the flight paths?

It seems that the noise difference between these engines is by far largest behind the aircraft. Is that because the faster rotating PW1000G turbines are slowing the exhaust more down than those in the conventional engine do?

Most of power comes from the fan that rotates slower because of the reduction gear box between the low pressure compressor and the fan...slower rotation, less noise.
