my hinge broke too, put a piece of plastic with black tape to hold everything in place. Thanks to your great video, I didn't realize that I needed to un solder everything just for a simple part. Isn't there a faster simpler part that doesn't require all that silly work? Or what if I just cut the center of that hinge to slide in the wire? lol

Joe perfect timing for this video. I just bought a pair of studio three headphones for 40 bucks fix them and they’re working almost 100%. However, I think when I was trying to repair these I may have punctured a hole in the noise canceling mic on the left side. I’m thinking that it’s the small tab opening and the bee button. I’m wondering if it’s possible to get a replacement. At 7:40 in your video you unplug the wire that I am thinking is the mic for the noise canceling. Any help would be great thanks!!

I did exactly like you, except my beats dont want to charge anymore. It make more than 1 year that i didn't recharge them because it was broken. I have 2 pairs of these (one given to me from a friend after the hinge on mine broke). oddly enough, the left hinge on both of them broke, can I take the right hinge out of one and put it on the left side of the other?

My beats are fine but the part that's shown at 18:21 is open and I cant get it to close back up, would it be because its missing one of the screws that you put on at 18:37 ?

Found this video because I am trying to fix a broken hinge on my son's Studio 3 headphones. This video does a great job explaining how to fix a broken hinge . . . if you have all the tools for the job, which I do not. Ultimately, this is one shitty design job. It is ridiculous that you have to go through this process to just change a hinge.

I think I see the issue. On the left side, it is not meant to come off like the tide side does. The screws are on the inside not outside like the right side

Glad I found this. Wouldn't it have been easier to remove the left side so that you didn't have to disconnect the battery? or is it almost the same?
The battery should be disconnected if there is any soldering involved, or you will fry a board.

Some things are easier to do at home than other. The headband is a pretty easy repair to do on your own.

Would it be easier to just change the headband and use the excisting hinge in most cases? I don't see any problems with the excisting hinge.
Also that would save you the headache with the wires as you only would have 4 screws to mess with.

I believe you are asking about the solder Iron. It's a tool used to heat up solder to disconnect wires, and components.

If you are replacing just the hinge, why do you need to open the earphone?
