Hello all, unfortunately, we have stopped servicing the Beats Solo 3 headphones. We will still be selling the parts. You can follow this link to buy the hinge - www.joesge.com/products/beats-solo-3-wireless-metal-hinge-folding-parts.
Thank you so much for this! My left hinge broke and I was able to fix it thanks to you! The design is really poor, especially since the process to replace it is pretty long. I was super bummed bc mine is out of warranty. You saved me a new set of headphones!
You make it seem so easy.. Gotta give you props for that.. I was able to follow the same steps and have a pair of working beats after my 2 hinges broke. Half way through the process I was about to contact yall. But your video gave me confidence.. First time I solder an electronic device I struggled with the Pins, soldering the speaker back but I did it. Once the music started playing man oh man.. Thanks a bunch!!
If you're still struggling to get the little metal bit in, an easier way is to use a Needle a very tiny bit of glue to hold the metal bit slot it in and take the Needle out. Took me about a minute after trying to do it with tweezers for a good 2 hours
Wonderful idea. For some reason people are thumbs-up the completely useless comments and I didn't see your tip until completely frustrated trying to use tweezers. My daughter asked me if I could solder and she then bought the new hinge and sent this video. If I knew all the work involved, I would have just paid for joe's ge to fix it. If you're not well-paid, just hustle a bit to get the $80 for a pro repair.
@@Jemathis53 I even bought a set of new tweezers because the one i had was too big and that didn't even help, the needle and glue idea is honestly the easiest and quickest way to do it.
Why does that part break so easily, they were just in my case and broke then I got a new pair and they conveniently broke in the same spot after the warranty expired.
Just finished doing the repair, went fine (tho less clean than you) thanks to you ! *Never buying beats ever again, those things are not made to be repaired
Thanks to you I was able to fix my neighbours sons broken set. This is as you say difficult. Hard to get the wiring free from its glue. Though it looks fragile it’s quite robust. Some of the clips broke as I prised the plate off. Seems ok without them. And that pin tested my command of Anglo Saxon. I made a pair of tweezers into a cross bill to get the thing back in. Advise you check all working including charger before reassembly. Overall these are not built to be repaired but your video made it possible. Sadly necessary because they were designed to get broken.
In order to get those pesky pins into the hinge, stuff a tiny bit of cotton ball down into the side of the hinge just up to the pin hole level. Then the pin will sit perfectly lined up with the pin hole and you can push it into the hole. Those pins are a very tight fit and very slick and will NOT just slide in with tweezers the way the video shows.
For anyone who's only broken the metal "W" lock clip and not the plastic hinge cover you do NOT have to do a complete teardown. Just remove the soft headband and plastic cover to expose the left/right connecting wire. Remove the two screws from the hinge cover. Prise the wire out of the band to give enough slack to pull the hinge away from the headband. The metal lock clip can then be replaced. Push the hinge back into the band and replace the screws. Reassemble! Done. 5 minute job.
Thank you very much. I have a Beat Solo 2 wireless that had a right hinge broken. I followed your instructions but my battery didn’t reset like yours and i can’t turn it on now at all. My battery is a little different from the model you worked on (black connector instead of white). I checked all wiring connected correctly. Is it possible I might have damaged the battery in the process, like by bending it or ….? Appreciate a hint. Thanks, Jay

Great video! Can you just clarify the speaker wiring. I see three wires - I think. 1 with red/copper, the other with blue/copper, and then what i believe is the plain copper which is the ground. Is that correct? And i only saw you (dis)connect two wires. What's the correct wiring? Thanks

The hinge pins can fly a long way if you pinch them with the tweezers just right... Not easy to find afterwards either (still haven't found it) so be careful!
I believe I am missing the pin, but my beats have been screwed up for a while (Left side won't stay in locked position and right side hinge is broken and only connected hanging by the wire). I did the fix my self but I am probably going to make a small cut through the hinge because I do not have all the supplies to solder and more.
I made a small cut through the metal hinge with a junior hack saw, just enough to get the wire through. Bodged but it worked and you can barely see the cut
I did the first part to replace the earcups. Worth it - so comfy! And I think that if I watch your directions ten time, I won't be intimidated doing the rest. But if I feel it wiser, can I send them to Joe's to have fixed for a decent price?
I have some Beats Solo 3 wireless and the right metal hinge clip broke. I would like to know if it’s repairable and if so I would like an estimate on how much the cost would be. Hope to hear back from you!
Thanks for watching! The estimated cost for this repair would be about 80$. This includes parts/labor, shipping and a 100 day repair warranty. You can fill out a repair for here: JoesGE.com/pages/repair-services
Hi Joe, I tried this repair and after finishing I found disappointedly that the right speaker no longer outputted any audio. I tested the speaker by supplying 3v and it still works, so I assume I have broken/short circuited the red wire at some point. How do I figure out where the problem is and how can I fix it?
Thanks for the comment. Sounds like you make have damaged the red wire which is responsible for the sound. You will need to find where the wire is broken/short and bridge the connection with a new wire from that location. If you would like your headphones repaired by a professional you can fill out a repair form and follow the steps to send in your headphones. We offer free shipping and diagnostics. I managed to repair mine with your instructions. Unfortunately it was a pain in the ass, because there was glue from the assembly over several of the solder points and plug in bits. The glue was so strong I tore some of the wire casings too. The battery was also stuck on real tight, so I bent it a bit trying to get it out. Now that it’s all back together, it seems to be working perfectly. But I’m scared the battery will explode next to my ear or something because I’ve heard it can happen to damaged Li polymer ones.
A heat gun is crucial to removing all of the glue. If you are concerned about it then you can send you headphones into us as a service and we can take a look at them.
The right side doesn’t work and I was surprised to see this video. You make it look super easy, I’ll definitely give it a go, even though everything I touch breaks 😂
Great video. Does it matter if you use the hobby town glue or d-7000? Also with the soldering iron are you only using the heat to take off & replace the wires?
We use a hakko solder machine. And we have tested lots of glues including the hobby town glues. We think overall the B7000 is the best glue for the job.
I have a pair of Beats studio 3’s that need repairing. Right hinge. I just wanted to know how much time it would take to send them in and get them back. I’m in England.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the process is similar. The only difference is that there will not be a battery located on the left side of the headphones. -David P

If someone actually wanted to go through all of this they could also swap serial numbers at the same time or possibly change hinge name plate...not sure if the previous models had the same hinge though. Looks like alot of work to go through and possibly break everything in the process if you don't know what you're doing
What do you do about hinge pins that fall off? I need some help with that urgently. Thanks
Kusko, thank you for watching our video. We replace the hinge pins. You can send your product to our location for a repair by submitting our repair form here: JoesGE.com/pages/repair-services, use Google Chrome to submit our repair form.

If I buy beats from your website would they come with all the accessories they normally come with when you buy them at the store? Or do I only get the headphones?
That is a great question! And yes, generally any Beats you buy from us comes with a charger if it needs it, an audio cable and a case. On our site, in the description, it informs you of the items that come with the headphones. CH
Hey! I 've got the same problem but on the left hinge. Is the procedure the same?
Thanks for the comment. Yes, the process is similar. The only difference is that there will not be a battery located on the left side of the headphones.

Thanks for watching! This video here may be more helpful to you: ua-cam.com/video/1Fp4k8XnvSU/v-deo.html
You can remove the left one aswell or atleast i think so
My outside panel is loose. It doesnt clip. Can I glue it down? Or can I buy new panels?
You’d want to install a new panel because if you glue it you will ruin your other parts. You may have a broken inside or outside depending on your breakage. Take a photo once you took it apart and email us your photos with a description of your issue so we can get you the correct part.

What temperature is the iron? Thx
Thanks for the comment. We normally pre-set the solder iron temperature to about 750 degrees F.

No they are both different parts. One is the headband, and one is the headband cushion. we sell both on our website www.joesge.com
How much will it cost to fix the hinge on your website?
We charge approximately $70 for a hinge repair.
Can you please list the tools you used to repair them
Thanks for watching! We use a pry tool, which you can find either on amazon or at most hardware stores, or you can use a thin sturdy piece of metal. You can find the screwdrivers here: www.joesge.com/products/beats-by-dre-screwdriver-tool-t5-repair-tools-1?variant=7905323024430
This would have been far better if the parts weren’t the same color (black on black) and the camera was in close up (lovely to see the table w your tools…); I was able to pinch zoom, but often your hands leave the frame…. And thx for zipping thru the most difficult part, the pins….
Sorry. we have been working on improving our video quality
Need that internal wire shown in this video red, blue, black with connector do you guys sell it?
Fernando, we do not sell the main internal wire. We only have the 5 core located here: www.joesge.com/products/beats-by-dre-solo-2-solo-3-wireless-5-core-wire-with-clip-parts

Thanks for watching! We are in progress of making more repair videos, we appreciate your suggestion. The process is similar to the left side.

Do you know if the solo 2 uses the same hing as the solo 3 as they are out of stock in my location

Hello. Do you not repair SOLO 3's anymore? There is no option for them to be repaired on the application section of your website.
Unfortunately, we do not repair them. We do, however, still sell parts for them and have repair videos for most issues.
@@Joesgeawesome thank you.
So mine had glue on every conector and on the top of all the solder :/. Anyway ripped a wire when trying to peel it off from the plastic houseing. Instantly rage quit and binned them. Getting some Sony MX4s instead.
You could send them in for us to repair 😃
What do I do if my driver doesn’t work? The charger port does work but no sound is coming out of my right side
Good morning, this issue can be caused by multiple things. Have you tried to see if the device functions properly with an aux cable?
How much would you charge for a beats solo 3 wireless hinge replacement via sending it to you guys?
Devon, we would charge $80 for a hinge replacement. Send your product to our location by submitting our repair form here: JoesGE.com/pages/repair-services, use Google Chrome to submit our repair form.

Hi I cannot decide what part is broken my hinge or band
Please send us photos of your broken device to support@joesge.com.
You don’t need to unsolder the black wire since that’s not the same black wire that passes through the hinge.
Does this work with beats solo 2 (wired) ?
It is a very similar process
I lost the hinge pin is that ok? There’s only one pin on both sides
Your hinges have a chance of falling out of place. We sell replacement hinge pins here. www.joesge.com/products/beats-solo-2-3-wireless-hinge-pins-2-x-pins-parts?_pos=1&_sid=c7f9b604d&_ss=r

I have 2 issues with my beats and they happen to be on the same side (leaft side) my hinge is broken causing the beats to have a weak grip on my head and over bend themself. And the 2nd issueus the rail that the headphone slide on to adjust the height and stuff has like slipped off and is now sliding rather than a clicking noise and feel. How much and can i get them payed and repaired in australia?? I dont live in the US
Omg jeez sooo much but ill give it a try and also where i buy that screw driver?
You can find the screwdrivers we use for repair here: www.joesge.com/products/beats-by-dre-screwdriver-tool-t5-repair-tools-1
Thanks
No problem!
All that to replace a hinge?
Yeah :/ Its a process.
My beats solo 2s have the same issue - looked at your website, only problem is, I live in the UK. Thing that hacks me off; I took real good care of these headphones, but after a year or so of use, snap. Usability goes down the drain.
We do offer services to the UK, And ship our products there. We do not however know the exact customs fees that will have to be paid.
I'll buy a new one !!
All the power to you!
5:28 what exactly is the gold inner hinge part called and where can i buy it
is the hinge of a beats solo 2 the same as a beats solo 3?
Hello, thanks for commenting. Please email us at support@joesge.com with a screenshot of your question and we will be able to better assist you there. - Aaron P
The “thing” you’re pulling out the wires from, what’s the called ? I need it fixed on my beats and I can’t find the correct word for it. My hinge isn’t broken, it’s the where the L is located , where it bends in, the screws are missing and the headphone doesn’t have support to keep it in place.
That*
Im having the same problem and I can't figure out what size screws there are so I can get a replacement
How much would this cost to be repaired
Thanks for the comment. We currently charge $70.00 for this repair. This price includes parts, labor, and shipping. Alternatively, you can purchase the part for $19.99 and perform the repairs yourself.

Can you do a video on how to repair the left hinge
Thanks for watching! The process is similar but we can certainly keep your suggestion in mind! We post videos frequently for all sorts of repairs, so keep a lookout!
@@Joesge Any more specific guidance??? This video helped me successfully replace the right hinge on my wife's Solo 2's about a month ago... Now the left hinge broke, and I thought this one would be easier since I didn't have to mess with the battery or the USB charging port... I was WRONG... The left side seems WAY more difficult with regards to what/how to unsolder because of the audio jack/port... So ANY other feedback would be greatly appreciated... I don't know which ones I should or shouldn't...
We do not have a video on this hinge yet, if you would like to send in the headphones with any purchased replacement parts, we can repair them. Just follow the steps on our site here: JoesGE.com/pages/repair-services
what kind of glue did you used?
We normally use Instacure super glue for this repair.

would it be different for my beats solo 2 wireless?
Thanks for watching! This process is very similar to the Solo 2 Repair as well.
just realized it was the left hinge lol

i kinda winged it on the left side and i don't think i really messed up too bad any where but i only have sound in the left side now
where would i have messed up to only have sound in the left any none in the right
This could happen if there is no connection in one of the speakers. Make sure all wires are attached correctly.
