    just tried this stuff today, was going good when I was interrupted by the wife hitting a deer. I filled a crack and had built up a piece I had to remove to get at the crack. after the deer I did a pressure test, and I was so close, just a tiny pin hole, well I melted two sticks down over the side of the toon. I called it quits for the night, but I'm confident I'll get it. I'm also pushing it pretty hard by making a half inch tall wall of rod on top of rod, I had it once, by the way it's pressure tight right now, I just want to see if i can build the flat piece back with this stuff for sport

    My outdrive fell and broke a 2x3 piece off of the end of the cavitation plate. The body of the unit is thick and the plate thin. Grind a good V where break is and over fill with rod material. Put all the heat on the thick part until it melts the rod, Then i used a air grinder to smooth it level. The repair came out amazing. A little paint and no one will ever know. Took one rod. I also used map gas because of the thick body.

      Hi Bob,
      Good job, you have plenty of rod left for the next repair when needed.

    I had that same yellow propane or map gas tank and a different torch and I couldn't get it hot enough to melt the braze rods. Maybe my torch is wack (cheap brass one at Home depot) it doesn't sound as powerful as yours.

      nothing beats a good bernzomatic torch, I don't know what they do, but they'll outperform just about any hand held torch, anyday

    Does this product join two peices of aluminum? Will it weld two peices together?

    • @Aluminum-weld

      Sure you can. I have several videos on my channel ua-cam.com/users/aluminum-weld showing a tee joint and butt joint. Just follow the instructions.

    I don’t recommend this method for a crack in a jon boat. It was not easy and I’m going a different direction now. The crack will get bigger 😅. I followed the method shown.

    Hey, I did this with a canoe and the aluminum on the canoe melted before the rod would even melt, it was supposed to be a 750F rod too, any tips on repairing a blown out hole lol?

      What rod did you use. some rods spec in celsius HTS-735-11 is 735 degrees F.

    • @Aluminum-weld
      @Aluminum-weld  4 роки тому +2

      You should check out my Heat Control Video. If you do not control the heat you could melt the aluminum. That should never happen if you use HTS-735-11 because HTS-735-11 melts 500 degrees F. below the melting point of aluminum.
      HEAT CONTROL!!

    Is that brazing rod?

    • @Aluminum-weld
      @Aluminum-weld  5 років тому +1

      yes but unlike other rods out there HTS-735-11 contains no aluminum, that fact makes it way more easy to use because it works on contaminated aluminum that other rods cannot.

    that video does not prove that the rivet or seem won't leak. You gotta do a before/after leak test under pressure.

      Well you have a point, but if you read the reviews on our website aluminum-weld.com there are several examples of boat repairs. Also watch Sam Woods repaired several holes in his boat. Search youtube for Sam Woods DIY Aluminum boat repair. This HTS-735-11 will hold R410 and is being used for Air Conditioning repairs so the rivet repair is simple. I will let the customers prove it.

      @@Aluminum-weld Oh sure, then you can have the pleasure of selling your product to thousands of customers who don't know any better, and then discover the hard way that the leaks are either not cured or not durable - they'll get out on a lake and their boat will leak.
      Another problem with your aluminum boat repair claims is that the boats are very often held in place by rivets. Generally solid rivets. But even solid rivets fail. The easiest replacement for solid rivets is the mandrel rivet - but they leave a hole. However, your product would be excellent to fill the mandrel rivet holes. Right?
      On the other hand, problem with use of your product to seal aluminum boat leaks, is that the leaks generally arise in riveted ribs and keel. Use of your product in the rib-gaps may temporarily seal a leak - but - you product also creates a permanent wedge between aluminum sheets manufactured to lay flat. Your aluminum-weld wedge cannot be removed unless the whole rib is de-riveted and extracted. And, your aluminum-weld- wedge does not allow for the correct repair which is rivet tightening or rivet replacement.
      I think you are making a mistake to promote the product for this purpose, especially since there are many other excellent purposed for aluminum-weld.

      Not sure how you know so much about HTS-735-11 having never used it. Seems that for over 15 years these issues have never come up. I thank you for your concerns. There are other older rods out there that do not work like HTS-735-11. Before you buy read the real customer reviews as some other products may have the issues you brought up.
