I researched "Rock Chalk, Jayhawk" for my own curiosity. The University of Kansas sports teams are the Jayhawks - that much I knew. The chant started out as "Rah, Rah, Jayhawk" but in a few years the chant became 'rock. chalk' because of the 'chalk rock' limestone common in Kansas. How it morphed is lost in the sands of time. I can guarantee that this is the most useless piece of trivia I'll learn today!

You say it's useless, but it's been most fascinating to learn that! I'm going to try and keep that in my mind somewhere because you never know with crosswords, some clues come back to haunt us 🤣
