    You were not in too much danger of losing your streak. Today's Connections had a 93% solve rate. Even the Purple was easy. I would definitely give you credit for Blue since you knew the words were synonymous. I often have trouble with a way to define the connections in those situations - when every word describes what you're trying to convey. For the Green I wouldn't give full credit. I think what they're going for there is slangy words for the nose.

      Yep, today's Connections was fairly straightforward, whew. I expect we'll be in for a tough day soon as it seems to often follow an ~easy day. And I agree on green, I'd changed my mind on the category and landed on something that wasn't quite right. I'm glad I didn't fall for the TRUNK red herring, though! I think I saw some folks did.

    Me: "TREAD/THANK/TOAST" Sam: "TOAST. It possibly could be TOAST. It's probably TOAST. Definitely TOAST. Let me try BOAST." I was the one with a bit of luck today. After my first two guesses, only TOAST was possible. With this being the last day of your January challenge, I wish I had Elon Musk type money. I'd buy the NYT and make tomorrow's Wordle answer XYLYL. The look on your face would be worth every penny!

    TREAD/SNAKE/ABASE/PASSE/CAUSE/FALSE This is an example of relying on luck (even when you have none) instead of skill. Until I used the Wordle bot, I didn't even realize there were only 2 possibilities on my fifth guess. OF COURSE I CHOSE THE WRONG ONE! My luck score ended up being 32. And I'm not even sure we can say we solved it today - our final answers were false.

    It was a bit of a struggle for me today, but I eventually got it. I would definitely give you credit for Green. You said they were foods you eat at a party. I would say that is really splitting hairs to make a distinction between that and something you would eat while watching a football game. For the Purple, if I had to solve it with just 'Rigatoni' and 'Bernie' - no chance!

    I was surprised by how many people found today's difficult. Admittedly, I did make one careless mistake. Otherwise, I had no problems. Early on, you were so close on the candy bars, but since Mounds (coconut covered in dark chocolate) was one of my favorites, Blue was easy. I don't consider Airheads to be a 'candy bar' though. You had three of four in the Green category. Again, no problem for me as I own two sets of resistance bands (which, I swear, I will use someday). Purple was not the hardest ever. For Yellow, I have no idea of the origin of calling someone a 'card', but it's not uncommon, if a bit antiquated. 'Laugh' is a bit odd too. I would say you use it more sarcastically when someone just thinks they're being funny. "Oh, you're a real laugh".

    • @SamWords13
      @SamWords13 2 дні тому

      It was a monstrous one for me, I barely knew the candy bars (and I just googled and agree, Airheads doesn't look like a "candy bar")! I got a bit lucky in some of the groups. Hahaha you'll get to using those bands eventually 😂It's not common where I'm from to call someone a "card" or a "laugh" but I did at least know of the latter and not the former. Now I know!

    Happy new year, Sam! Maybe you'll have better luck with the comments - they were off again for connections yesterday. Easy one today, but I'm not taking credit for Blue. I knew they were movies, but I think you need to be a little more descriptive to receive full marks. I was lucky to not make an error as I got Purple first without seeing 'dreamhouse'. When I saw today's Purple connection, I had a bad feeling about your chances at a 4 out of 4 score. It took me a couple of minutes to try a letter swap and see Widen/Biden. In all fairness to you, I'm confident that 99.99% of Americans don't even know your system of government (I'm 100% sure our President doesn't know).
