You saved me from tearing open my diff cover again. I just finished putting new axle bearings and seals on my wife’s 2000 Formula with the Torsen 10 bolt differential. After I finished, I got paranoid that I put the pinion lock in upside down. Your video showed that that isn’t possible. Thank you for illustrating that!!
Glad to hear the video helped.I do the same thing when I work on someones car I start thinking I did this or that wrong afterwards.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you are installing the bearings, they're usually seated as soon as you hear the sound change
Yes that is correct. Been awhile since I did this video so not sure if I mentioned that but you are right.
Good content keep it coming. I just joined your channel. You gave me advice on cam timing. Don't stop the F body content. God Gm Ls Lt FTW.
Thank you and I definitely have many plans for the Fbody but it will take time of course but I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
@@LSxMotorsports2021 Now worries I've been Gm really since birth the mustang craz was so heavy I remember going to race. An it will be 20 mustangs to our 3 F bodys an if you beat one you gotta run them all for the same results. Own 7 3-5th Gens Camaros since age 14. Been owning my 01 z28 factory Gm code paint mystic teal filp flop chameleon 1778 built less than 3 I've seen still left . LS base Th400 trans stock tq arm suspension nos car. But yes we need more F body channels so thanks. And no problem Jr.
@god1st.530 Sounds like a great car and very rare color. And yes I agree we need more Camaro channels.
I like to use the Loctite sticks, no liquid mess 😊
I will have to look for that next time I go to get loctite.Less mess and probably less waste too.
quick question, does your car have Traction Control? Mine does, and was curious, I think I read somewhere a few years back when you remove the axles, you have to remove the TCS sensors from the axle housing to allow the axle shaft to be removed, any truth to this? Im getting ready to replace my axles with a set from Moser. Thank you
Mine does have traction control and I did not remove anything and seems to be fine. I have had them in and out several times. Not saying you shouldn't but I haven't and have had no issues.
Great vid! Hows those true duals sound?!
There are some videos on the channel of the car running the 1/4 mile you can hear how it sounds.
Is there a certain direction to reinstall the C clips? Didnt know if it was the same on both sides or does the C clips have a tapered side?
That's a good question that I can't answer.I have had them in and out so many times I know they have been in every which way that is possible. So I would say it doesn't matter as long as they don't show any excessive wear.If anyone reads this that knows for sure would appreciate the answer.
Hello from Romania 🇷🇴
Is this the same on a 2002 v6 Firebird?
Yes the V6 Firebird would be exactly the same. The differential would be slightly different but very similar. It would still use C clips but the pin holding them in will be different.
@@LSxMotorsports2021 i need the same tools ? Do You have a link for them ? And how much oil the diferențial needs ?
Yes you will need the same tools. The cheapest place is Amazon. You will need a slide hammer and a Rear Axle Bearing Remover Puller. Some times they come together in a kit.I had to get mine separately. You can also just rent one from a parts store. The differential will need a little less than 2 litres of fluid. You will also need a new gasket for the rear cover.
@@LSxMotorsports2021 yes, i allready have the bearings, the seals, and a Felpro gasket for the diferențial!
I will need to find the exact tools, and yes i thought i need about 1,5 liters for the diferențial.
I ALLWAYS whatch your channel, verry good stuff !
PS: i am saving for a 1993 5.7 LT1 for a conversion from EFI to carburator because of that Optispark! I will need a manual valve body for the 700r transmission that IT has.
But i never did open the bearings so that's what i asked ! 💪😅
Yeah it is a pretty easy job if you have the right tools. You may want to to check your local parts store to see if they rent the tools you need to save some money.Yeah a carbrated LT1 would work great in this car and like you said no Opti spark issues. Thanks for watching and commenting we really appreciate it.
3:53..grip strength like a gorilla 🦍
Haha yeah I was struggling because I had the drive shaft disconnected so had to hold the ring gear from turning.
@@LSxMotorsports2021 been there 😏
