The storyline didn't mention the exact length of time they waited before getting married, but there's NO DOUBT that they got to know each other first! You need to be friends first before you can love someone!
I miss simple love stories like this. It’s sad that this is one of the only Disney films where a man and woman come togeather to have a family and do everything they can to defend it. And there dogs. 😑
