We're looking for 8-10 testers who have active UA-cam channels and can provide a couple of short videos showing the Biorock in various situations - ideally with plants attached, with corals attached, with fish using the structures as habitat.
If you can deliver 1-2 short videos over the next 6 months or so sharing your thoughts on the Biorock I will upload them to the PondGuru channel and link to everything you've got going on online in the video description and pinned comment - it's Quid Pro Quo and will benefit us both.
The videos will be uploaded to your channel and to my channel so it's double exposure for you.
If you're interested then get in touch via email or phone - simple as that.

I’d love to test for you but I’m a small fish in the UA-cam world 200lt and a 250lt on double decker stand is all I can offer, tank wise!
plus shorts and a weekly update video
They are so pretty!!! So well designed!!
Good day Richard! I just sent you an email with a couple of pictures and initial thoughts. Love it so far!
Can’t wait for those to be available.
These are so awesome.
I would so so happily test these!!!!!
This is a good way of doing it proper research and doing the maths yourself
Sharing your video to All my UA-cam Aquatic channels
I will try it in my main Tank Richard 👍🏼
After testing for a few weeks I love this stuff so far I’ll definitely be buying the Freshwater version for my angelfish tank when it’s available
Nice one, I'm glad it's performing well. It will be interesting to see if it aids the cycling of the tank in the next few months.
Brilliant looking product.
Wish I had a channel to promote it!
Super excited to try this in my marine setup
I bet you feel like Charlie Bucket
Being picked, well done and I’ve subscribed for the progress report 👍
@@aquariumdelirium I’ll be doing an unboxing soon it should arrive today
Looking forward to it
What box size are you getting and what size tank is it going in?
This is a brilliant idea I would love to try them in a planted tropical rainbow tank love the light colour version.
(my other channel) Good one - they will be available some time in the next month or so.
I would buy this stuf 💯. Amazing alternative to the current available rocks used for reef tanks. Cant wait till its available in the Netherlands.
Are they any shops in the north east selling it? And if so how much per kilo.
I might just buy some for the unbiased approach.
I’ve got a small amount of biohome already in my pimped up filters, but would be interested to max my tanks out
I have a couple of emails to get to from you regarding this.
It is not available in shops as we're going through the testing stage with independent testers. There's no reason why you couldn't test it regardless of channel size as long as you can make a couple of videos later showing how the fish find it, water quality etc.
Any videos you make which you want me to upload to my channel with links to your socials just let me know and send the link no worries.

email sent, question about USA vendors locations
Price please for 30/40 kg grey deliverd to Ireland 🇮🇪 🙏. Love ur channel you helped me SO much setting up my filters and keeping my fish ALIVE
@@rgilroy1909 www.filterpro.co.uk (flags at the top of every page are international suppliers) US supplier is GreatWave Engineering www.greatwaveeng.com
@@mariohughes2289 Dear Mario,
Unfortunately sending anything to Ireland is a nightmare with Anpost sending almost everything back (at extra cost to me) with no reason or explanation. We could really do with a distributor in IE who would import a pallet of media as sending boxes and having Anpost mess with everything is very frustrating.
It's really strange since IE used to be no problem to send to and everywhere else in the world is no problem. Apparently many small businesses are having the same problems sending from the UK to IE and it's all down to Anpost.
Until the situation gets better I can' send anything to IE.
@Pondguru the colors are great. The Marine is beautiful under blue light, I imagine the more gray would look great in an African cichlid tank and the more brown perfect in a South American planted tank! All the biological filtering you need, right in the tank. Just throw a small mechanical filter that can be maintained quickly and your golden!
That all sounds sensible to me.
Just imagine how much this is gonna cost 😮😮
I got a review sample from the store in the USA and have posted a unboxing video to my UA-cam channel.
It looks great, and I'd be keen to buy some. Two quick questions. In the previous video, what size tank did you demonstrate the 5kg package in? Also, I'd be interested in some images of what it looks like wet, the videos will be useful for to help decide which to use in future aquascapes
I will be posting everyone's videos to the 'community tab' on my channel and I think subscribers get notifications for that if they hit the bell to be informed of new uploads etc.
The tank is roughly 2'4" long (70cm) which I used in a previous video.
I have 5kg in a 90l aquarium 60x40x40 cm and fills it perfectly
Id love to use this stuff for cichlid caves!!
The manufacturer has some for sale in limited amounts on ebay - just search for 'Biohome Biorock' and it should come up.
Definitely want this rock as it will make up the difference and push my anaerobic and aerobic filtration well past what my tank requires for my 350l tank as can only get around 3kg in my fluval 407 but would prefer white as it would suit ma tank
Would it be possible to have a video on the steps advised to replace the BioHome media in the filter?
1) signs to look out for when media is required to change
2) process of changing (like change 100% + sponges in 1 go or do it gradually?)
+ In your older videos, I did not see an explanation of Ultimate (maybe it is worth doing a refresher with new products covered)....
Thank you
Although don't see many comments (hence me always asking people to phone or email any questions) I saw this no worries.
With regard to the Biohome Ultimate I show a microscopic view inside it and explain what it is made of and how it works in the video 'Looking Inside Filter Media'. There's a few more videos which have explanations in but that one is by far the best since it compares it to many other types of media.
Thanks for the suggestion of upgrade timescale and cleaning. They are two topics I have down since they are on the Q&A page of the FilterPro site and also on the information sheet I send out with any boxed media but that is still two of the most common questions I get asked so definitely worth making specific videos about.
The video on cleaning will probably be called 'Biohome Should NOT be 'Cleaned' With Bleach' as there is a clown online with a decent following claiming that all porous media needs to be bleached every six months which is murder for the filtration. God knows how many of his follower's fish he has been responsible for killing so that needs to be set straight. Cleaning / sterilizing porous media simply involves baking it in a hot oven for an hour or so and bleach should be nowhere near filter media.
Best f luck with the tank.
Oooh super exciting, I’ll drop you an email Richard. Win win win 👍🤞
I’d loved to do it! Sending you an email.
I'm not a youtuber but gotta ask, I'd love to buy 5kg to use if you end up with spare of this test stuff. My tank is 70l and I've been using your biomedia for 8+ years in my external filter. I've been looking to switch to rock away from wood as I'm still struggling to keep any plants that don't float alive!
Hi Richard, it’s Dan, we went metal detecting together a few years back. Hopes the family’s good. Was wondering if you fancied another day out?
Dear Dan,
Yes we're all good thanks - Sorry, I have to admit I can't remember detecting with you but I've got a famously awful memory. Was it up at Amble?
I get hardly any time for detecting now and haven't had anything other than a few hours finding trash in the last few years so going out with someone would be great.
Give me a ring any time on 07772848730
Regards,
Richard
I like this, I’m just scared of one thing; it looks a bit harsch for aquascaping fishes like otocinclus for example, any thoughts on this? Is the texture similar to lava rock for example? Or a bit ‘heavier’ ?
It's quite heavy but still has a porosity of around 50%. It's also quite rough but the fish don't seem to mind.
Ottos really need broad leaved plants or smooth boulders but if you've got either of those then mixing it up with some Biorock is no problem.
I'd love to test it as I'm about to setup a new saltwater but do t have a UA-cam channel.
Have you decided on a rough price yet?
MD fishtanks would do a good job with it in some of his Nano aquarium builds and he keeps them going longer than his big aquarium's and has a massive fan base
I rarely use UA-cam for watching videos so he's a channel I'm not familiar with and he's probably never heard of my channel, lol
I will check him out.
think this would be excellent further improvements i can see early on for the saltwater side is if it could be coloured the coraline algae shade like the carbisea rock would be a instant with been so porous
The current color, under blue light, is perfect.
@@charlie10tango39 brilliant ill be deffo trying when released
@@noahsreef2416 I’m curious as 0 nitrates aren’t ideal in a marine system so I’d like to try to see if it would encourage dynofragilates or if it just keeps nitrates low enough to not remove all the nutrients especially as most soft coral like a little more nitrate in the system
I have seen the video late as im usualy only looking into the filters here , I have a waterbox cube 20 saltwater tank for like 12/13 months now but looking upgrade or change into a more lagoon style of a tank as the cube is no longer allowing me to plaant the mangroves that i got due to its hight and I'm wiling suport the cost of shipping ( as i live in Romania / Bucharest ) and also pay for the rock if needed as it looks really similar to a recent video iv come acros , if you can pm i can share it so i'll not port it here and see what I mean. Looking foreword for a reply.
尊敬的先生,我翻看了您在几年前一个有关FX Indy的射击视频,我在那里有留言不知道您能不能看的到,我想向您咨询一下用哪种铅弹适合它,期待您的回复,谢谢您!
Canada can test it!
would it work in a pond
Have you tried MD fish tanks or Fish Shop Matt?
Thanks for the recommendations - I'd never heard of Fish Tank Matt but I see he has a very big following and viewer numbers which trounce mine but then again, who's channel doesn't get more views than mine?
Aaaaahhh.....the 'benefits' of being shadow banned by Google / UA-cam ....
I'm not the sort to contact people who have great viewer numbers since they are generally 'paid ambassadors' or 'paid advertisers' for other aquatic companies and I don't want to offend them by offering them something for free and then not paying a lump sum to be featured on their channel.
Most of the successful channels are there for profit and I really want people who just make videos for the love of it.
Admittedly both those guys seem like nice people (and have great channels) and I'll be the first to call my business model 'very naive' so it would be great if either of them contacted me to ask about the Biohome media or Biorock (since I only really want people to feature something if they are genuinely interested and don't have a financial motive).
Unfortunately I know I'm living in a time which no longer exists, lol
His a very nice down to earth honest and so knowledgeable chap. Might be worth a conversation and by the way I pimped my fluval filters to your specifications and they are awesome, couldn't have done it without you. I am a huge fan.
@@Spearse29 Nice one - I'm glad that the set ups are working well for you. Filtration should be easy but it's made out to be technical and $cientific. Once set up properly it should just work with no fannying about.
What's the progress on this one? is it going on the market? I have a new 110L tank waiting :D
I haven't got in on my website yet but the manufacturer has it listed on Ebay - just search 'Biohome Biorock' and it will come up.
I'd love to give it a try! I'll send you a message
Not sure how much testing you have done on these but I have a marine tank and used the bio home ultimate in it because I had that spare from an old tank fresh water tank. I ha recently removed it because all my corals wouldnt emerge and I did an ICP test and had quicte high metals and couldnt figure out why. I did a lot of water chnages and added a lot of cabron and it was only getting worse, I think looked inro the biohome ulitmate and noticed on your website it has added compound and a lot of thise contianed the element I was seeing as high on my ICP so the other day I removed then and in two days with no water changes and just the carbon all the corals are starting to remerge. Only saying this as I have no idea if you have doen any testing but it may be worth looking into if there is an unwanted leeching. Been watching the vids for a while keep up the good work.
We've had lots of people report back saying that the water has been perfect and corals are thriving (and choosing to colonize the media in the sump).
The added trace elements in Biohome are fused into the structure of the media and are not there to alter the water chemistry. Since the elements are fused into the structure there is minimal leaching and the amounts are only there in trace amounts. In a 60kg batch of Biohome there is literally a pinch of trace elements and they get fused into the media during the firing process.
@@pondguru Thats strange because the only thing I cnaged in take the media out and now my corals and coming back, Im going to do another ICP test soon and hopefully that will tell me more. I didnt think they would leech hense I left hem in at first so no idea whats going on.
@@EliteFTW8 It's a strange one for sure and it would be good if you could let me know what you discover since the Biohome Ultimate and Biohome Ultimate Marine is used in thousands of tanks all over the world with great results. The structure is inert so it's basically a miniature deep sand bed.
@@pondguruI was going to get an icp today so I’ll message when the results are in and see what the differences are. As I said I was very surprised that taking them out would have made any difference maybe it was coincidental. So much to control in marine tanks it can be a mine field
@@EliteFTW8 I'm no expert on marine systems so it would be great if you could get to the bottom of it. The strange thing is that I've only had the opposite reports regarding corals emerging, producing polyps etc. when the filtration switches to the Biohome.
As far as I know the Tivoli aquarium in Denmark uses over 500kg of Biohome in their filter (it could be more now).
Posted this video on the discord group I'm in hopefully someone gers in touch
I would love to test it but I don’t make videos 😢
Can I Test I'm In South Africa At The Moment But I Live In Namibia It SURe make interesting addition to my new tahanikan tank
looks a bit rough for my soft skinned Weather Loaches, they would shred themselves lol
MD and Fish shop Matt
give some to MD
Can this be placed in a sump?
It could be and it would just work like normal types of Biohome filter media but it seems like a bit of a waste to use this in a sump when the normal forms of media will pack in better.
No UA-cam though spoke too soon haha
MD fish tanks is the man for the job. Honest and will put them to good use
Ask MD Fish Tanks. I bet he'd do a belting job with it.
He wouldn’t have the tank running long enough..to give a fair result..to slap dash.
❤🤝👍🇫🇷🤝
Emailed ya Richard love biohome would be great to try some bio Rock 👍
It is NOT a fortune from UK to Sweden. I buy stuff all the time. :-)
Done! 👍
oh i wish i had presencee on youtube i can see so much can b made from this in aquarium
Another day for Zack to loose an opportunity just because I live in Sweden... 😄 I called you, you did not answer. There is one place here that have your media. But what do you mean? Should I say "Pondguru" promised me for free? I left a cellphone message. So get back to me. If you get it.
I tend not to pick up international calls as I get so much spam from paypal, ebay, advertising companies etc. calling from abroad and my phone isn't set up to make international calls.
Just email me whatever the questions are no worries.
The Swedish supplier probably doesn't yet have any of the Biorock samples but other than the cost of shipping there's nothing stopping us from sending outside the UK for the right channel. You've got a good channel going there and some beautiful tanks so it's a great fit for the trials.
@Pondguru Thanks Mate. Now my channel is a hobby, but it used to be half my life. But like I said, thank you. And I know a few things being in the hobby since I could walk. Me and my brother bothered our Mother for breakfast, if we could get a pond in our yard with Koi! After 1 hour she said. If you can dig it yourself with shovels, you have the rest of the day. We did it! I was 6 my brother was 8. I was digging 70% of the pond without breaks for food 😄 5 meters long, 1,5 meters wide and all the dirt from the ground saved att the deep end acting as a big wide and tall mountain/waterfall. The next day Mom helped of course. 😊 But it was to small for koi. So it had to be goldfish. It was summer in Sweden so lights 18 hours a day.
@Pondguru We have talked before though. It was to ask you about something speficik about a filter. But now you have pimped all the filters I have ever owned except one. The Aquael HOB. They have always made them, but for their 25 g saltwater all in one kits. I found one on the internet that was for Sale because the tank had Broken. NOW Aquael are making them in black(mine is white) for Freshwater. They look 95% like mine. And it is so much better than the famous Aquaclear. Mine starts by it self, by having the impeller as low as possible. It has 2 waterfalls making it more silent. And it is wid and deep insted of big front to back. Instead of a big square box, like the Aquaclear 110. AND one last thing. The plastic is so much better. It remind me of the big black thing you mix concrete in. Like more rubber in the mix. Sorry y for the world's longest comment. But if I get one, I am going to pimp it my self. They way you should have done it. Kind of, I have so many aquariums so I want an intake sponge fine sponge then course sponge, the bio home up top filter mesh. That way I can just look change the first white stuff ones every 10 days. Oh, with the good and fair risk that yiu even read this far 😆, have you showed how to you would build a sump. If it was for like a really big tank. Example 700 liter tank for Saltwater Puffer or 12 Wild Discus and you will need the sump.to be like 200 liters and like 140 litera active, because you never fill them all the way to the top. That would make a great video. How you would build a sump. 🤗 So sorry for the novel. But hey, the algorithms are loving it. Thanks again for all your great work. Cheers.
@@CrazyAquariumGuy That's a heck of an achievement as I know what it takes to dig out any pond by hand.
@@ThousandYardStare When I do something, I do it all the way. It is a problem sometimes. 😄
