If I’m being honest it’s like messed about with cause he’s not a good singer but that’s what makes them an indie band cause no one cared about how shit singing was
I had heard 'bout the strokes before, but never really listened to them. But since I started seeing your videos I listen to them and I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I DIDN'T START TO SOONER, thank you 💛
Ode to the Mets is deadass my favorite from the album, but like the entire album is wonderful and it was so so worth the wait. They're supposed to come to Hungary in the summer, but i'm pretty sure that the festival is going to be canceled which means i don't really have the chance to see them live:'( at least this album is here for me
Also, I cried to Selfless. So I know what you mean. Shared the same feeling about Adults not having “you ask, we deliver”, but the studio version is soooo cleeeaan.
I WAS LITERALLY JUST AS EXCITED AS YOU WHEN THE ALBUM CAME OUT, literally spent the entirety of yesterday listening to it over and over. Genuinely a religious experience. I love how many Arctic Monkeys/Radiohead vibes I get from this album? And some of the songs like Selfless & Not The Same Anymore are so melancholic it just makes me happyy
I’ve only ever listened to a few songs from the strokes BUT i LOVE literally every song on this album and that’s a rare thing for me. Definitely will be binge listening to more of their other albums now. Edit.. give me some recommendations if u want!
I love that feeling of having an entire album to listen to in one sitting like at midnights it’s such a pure warm feeling. The Strokes will live on forever.
Who cares if this is not your usual content?? I loved this so much!! Keep innovating, Nicole!! Anything that you make is going to be great!! (Btw, I love your music taste!!!!) 😘😘
I'm rewatching this video after almost 7 months. This was the very first video i saw of Nicole as it popped in my suggestions just 2 days after my bday and since then I've been hooked. She's my favourite UA-camr and her videos just make my day better AHHHH.
I didnt know about the strokes but I sure do now!! I've been listening to them nonstop for the past day and I love their music!! Thank you for making this video! Enjoyed it very much!! Your music taste is always impeccable!!
Just another cool little tidbit, they put writing credits on this album for Billy Idol bc the chorus on Bad Decisions is almost identical in how it progresses to Dancing with Myself. They did the same thing for the Psychedelic Furs bc of the chorus on Eternal Summer and its similarity to The Ghost in You
i watched this video right after i listened to the album and i really felt like i was experiencing it with you lol?? maybe the quarantine loneliness is getting to me but this made my evening thank youuuu
I live for music commentary so please, by all means, keep it coming. Would love to hear about all the artists that you enjoy? A top list of sorts maybe?
ok but I started listening to them literally after seeing the first video I’ve ever watched of u (why is this sentence so confusing..?) and now i‘m obsessed and sooo in love with this album
@@hellothere488 Lou Reed and The Velvet are the biggest influence of Julian. When Lou Reed died, Julian tweeted "Lou Reed is the reason i do everything i do".
Hey Nicole 👋 Same goes to me. Their new album gave us such a good feeling and really really really great to hear to their new vibes and the lyrical are so meaningful. Its reflected my life😢
This is the first time i watch your video and I think this is one of the best reaction videos i have ever seen! I love The Strokes so much, thank you so much for this reaction video!!!
I looove this video! Much nicer to watch this very personal album reaction/review from a big fan than watching a review from a more critical reviewer. You not caring about other’s opinions is really inspiring! Really good video, it made me happy :)
"You make a better window than a door" from Not The Same Anymore - the lyric for the previous line is "don't wanna play that game anymore." It's like she's blocking him off sorta, and I feel like Julian's saying that he can see right through her "game", hence why she's a better window than a door
The "Drums please, Fab" is definitely part of the song, in the live performance Fab gets his sticks ready right before Julian says it. It definitely makes the song. Must be nice to see the Strokes, they've only been to Chicago like twice in the 20 years they've been around, and for the first I wasn't aware of their existence and Lolla is so expensive after they announce the lineup.
there’s a part in eternal summer that precedes the shouting part and it’s 100% taken from “the ghost in you” by the psychedelic furs. a lot of 80’s inspiration in this album, it’s amazing
Great Video! I was going to see them in LA on march but quarantine happened now is May 29, I'm very excited, the new album is amazing but i cried like a baby with those songs >
As a big music fan, love this type of video. Personally I like albums more than playlists as well so that makes it extra good, if you ever want to do a similar video on your favorite albums and maybe how they related to diff times in your life that could be a fun one.
I was at the NYE show in New York too! All the way from Australia. Tripped me out hearing drums please fab on the record. Ode to the Mets takes me right back there. I was planning to catch them in Europe in June.. which is now off the cards. New album is saving my life in quarantine right now!
I found your channel because of quarantine boredom and am absolutely in love with your content and upbeat personality. You give me really similar energy to my best friend who I haven't seen in months and it makes me so happy :)))))
Just posting this now as I’m only like 2 mins in but I’m SO JEALOUS you made it to the NYE concert. I found out about it while deployed in Japan, came home for the holidays but couldn’t make it to the concert cause I got buried in snow while at my best friends house right before NYE and didn’t trust myself driving a new Charger through the snow from NH to NYC, I was heartbroken... then flash forward to last month, I heard The Strokes were gonna play in LA, only like 2 hours from my station, then the stupid quarantine ruined that 😂 still haven’t seen em live yet
the strokes really said let’s cure quarantine depression
facts
more like enhance my depression
I could not stress this enough 😭
Pro tip : you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Abel Samson Yup, been using Flixzone} for years myself :)
The ''we're in an invisible war my friend'' quote by Julian Casablancas seems more relevant now than I'd ever thought it would.
Also the album title “The New Abnormal”.
“I shaved my legs for this album “😂😂
Love that comment lol
Mood
I can’t stop listening to The adults are talking & Ode to the Mets!
The Guy In the Back SAME
same here, my favorites off the album
Same
that was literally me at firstt but then Selfless and Eternal Summer really grew on me, it’s one of my fav albums :)))
Those two & Not the Same Anymore & Bad Decisions, all such great songs.
All I’m saying is I’ve never seen Julian and God in the same room at the same time 🤔
Tbh me neither...
Coincidence I THINK NOT
Now that you have said, Mr. Casablancas does have the same initials as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. JC
Julian’s voice is so beautiful on this album.
hard agreed
If I’m being honest it’s like messed about with cause he’s not a good singer but that’s what makes them an indie band cause no one cared about how shit singing was
@@djbabyboy4913you really just said he’s not a good singer😭😭 bye

I've been listening to this album everyday all day and it's just perfect. DRUMS PLEASE, FAB
Br?
i swear u have the best music taste it’s not fair
I’ve never listened to them, but your videos are capable of getting me excited about anything ❤️
This album only has 9 tracks but I consider like 4 of them to be masterpieces (The Adults Are Talking, Bad Decisions, At The Door, Ode To The Mets)
I agree, however I might switch Bad Decisions with Selfless.
Selfless is a masterpiece hands down
@@iamyou111 YES
The chorus in eternal summer sounds more like pink floyd, specifically the wall pt 2
Jose Raya literally the exact thing I thought when first listening to it
Jose Raya sounds like it could be off a tame impala record to me !
And one of the riffs in why are Sundays so depressing sounds like a fast version of the main riff from Led Zeppelin’s by the seaside
Nah fam, it's an interpolation of another 70's synthpop song. Look up 'The Psychedelic Furs - The Ghost In You'.
YES! Thanks for agreeing with me^^
"Drums please Fab" literally changes the whole song, love this album so much 😍
“Like The Strokes gave The Voidz a kiss on the cheek” is the most accurate description I’ve ever heard
Listen to adults are talking w headphones on. It’s a whole different experience. You feel like you’re there. Nick in one ear, Albert in the other
“Eternal Summer” is the song I’m living for through this quarantine 🥰
Also, I cried to Selfless. So I know what you mean. Shared the same feeling about Adults not having “you ask, we deliver”, but the studio version is soooo cleeeaan.
The last time I was this early, Nikolai had broken the zoom.
they better be careful on those zoom videos on their channel 👀 keepin an eye on nikolai
And hes gonna make everyone pay for it
Now it's time for The Strokes new hit single, "Nikolai broke the Zoom"!
2:16 I’VE BEEN LISTENING TO THE LIVE VERSION EVERYDAY UNTIL THE RELEASE TO IM GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE

this made me think of listening to the strokes with my dad when i was a little kid and now i'm cryin
Julian Casablancas really SHINES in this album
I’ve only ever listened to a few songs from the strokes BUT i LOVE literally every song on this album and that’s a rare thing for me. Definitely will be binge listening to more of their other albums now.

Give Ode to the Mets a try if you haven't listen yet
Vassily Vodka ooh yes that’s one of my favourites! ❤️
Every song on First Impressions of Earth...!
sai siddharth don’t listen to this guy
Is this it
This is me when Conan Gray's new album came out....I love this, so cool
I love that feeling of having an entire album to listen to in one sitting like at midnights it’s such a pure warm feeling. The Strokes will live on forever.
I love your reaction to "Drums Please, Fab", it's exactly how I reacted as well! Love this album so much, it's pretty much a 10/10.
I haven’t listened to the strokes in a MINNUT but I’m glad this released when I had the time to listen🥺🥺
The "You make a better window than a door" hits me everytime, I already though of some meanings to it

Never heard of this but I'm sure as hell gonna check it out now.
omg i didnt even catch the "Juliet i adore" when i listened... :,( ok crying
I mean I guess I’ll start listening to this band now

So happy we share the love for the strokes. Def my favourite video you've made 🤩👏💜🥰😭👀
This is the energy I’m living for. I found the strokes 4 years ago too and they’re my favorite band of all time
I was listening to it at 1am and I follow you on spotify so I could litterally see you listening to it with me
I was literally listening to the album when this came out- spooked
I've been waiting for this album for 7 years, even though I've only been a fan for 4 hahaha nice one!
Watching this video feels like talking to a friend about the new strokes album and it makes me happy.
At The Door does actually have guitar! It happens when Julian says "struck me like a chord" which is awesome
Just another cool little tidbit, they put writing credits on this album for Billy Idol bc the chorus on Bad Decisions is almost identical in how it progresses to Dancing with Myself. They did the same thing for the Psychedelic Furs bc of the chorus on Eternal Summer and its similarity to The Ghost in You
I listen to Under Control and First Impressions of Earth album when I feel suicidal
It's actually Room on Fire and not Under Control
@@vassilyvodka2638 i think he/she is talking about the song
This album was incredible! It's ridiculous that pitchfork gave them such a low rating. Best song is why are Sunday's so depressing!
The Colonies thank god! I don’t understand why nobody is talking about that song as much it’s fucking brilliant 👏👏👏 I’ve been listening to it nonstop
Sis you got me into the strokes and I couldn’t thank you enough❤️
literally sameeee
I just found her channel and have been binge watching her vids and then SHE UPLOADED HER REACTING TO THE THE STROKES. I've been blessed
AAH DUDE the Talking Heads comparison was literally the first thing I thought of when I heard that part in Eternal Summer. You are 100% correct.

I agree I think Julian's falsetto has really evolved for this album, it's gorg
