How to Connect a Xbox One S Controller to your Console for Beginners

Hi, this video shows you the various ways to connect up your Xbox One S controller and standard Xbox One controllers to your Xbox One S Console. It shows a wireless connection and wired connection using a USB to Micro USB cable and also a way of using your mobile phone charger without batteries.
The Wireless way is as follows:
1. Turn on your Xbox One S console.
2. Insert 2 new AA batteries into the controller.
3. Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button until the controller turns on. The Xbox button will pulse, indicating it’s not yet connected to the console. If the Xbox button is lit solid, then the controller is already connected.
4. Press and release the connect button on the Xbox One S console.
5. Within 20 seconds, press and hold the connect button on the controller until the controller’s Xbox button quickly flashes a few times, indicating that it’s searching for the console. It then switches to a solid light when it's connected.
Your controller is now connected to your console. Repeat this procedure for every extra controller that you want to add. You can add 8 controllers to the Xbox One S console.

My Xbox one s controller disconnected after a month or two. Turns out I had to restart my console (hold down xbox button on console)

hmmm well not sure if user error or not, but my controller when I go to sync will stay on for less than a second and turns off instantly as soon as I let go of the controller power button. Brand new controller as my old controller is several years old and wanted to buy a new one. (Old one synced successfully with the same batteries) However the new one still wont connect or even stay on.

Awesome Duuude12 I had a similar problem, I shut down my Xbox unplugged it held the power button for 10 seconds to take away any static, then reboot the system. The controller that was previously synced, then register immediately.

Hari Vyas my little brother solved the problem...I put the polarites of the battery on the same side. It's one negative and one positive and I put both negative on one side which doesn't work (obviously). My bro pointed this out and now it works fine xD. Man I didn't know how stupid I could get. Just in case u too hv put the batteries on the wrong side, check it out

It really does suck though because I wish the controller didn’t require batteries to operate wirelessly I feel like it’s ridiculous to have stuff like a X box one controller from the year 2017 require batteries to operate wirelessly. I got a PS4 as well and the controller for that just works fine wirelessly & it doesn’t require freakin batteries to operate , you just have to charge it via USB port for an hour
