What Does Doctor Think Of Olaplex? Does it actually cause HAIR LOSS?!

- The luxe haircare brand Olaplex, billed as an antidote for broken and damaged hair, has been accused of causing many of its customers to go bald and blister.
“Olaplex makes several more intensive treatments that are not meant to be used daily but rather as an add-on treatment once or up to a couple of times each week. The No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment, a spray that coats the hair in the company's patented bond-building compound, should be used at most a few times per week on dry hair.
The No. 9 hair serum and the No. 6 Bond Smoother leave-in treatments meanwhile can be applied every time after you wash and condition your hair 'to give your hair every last dose of definition and smoothness.' The bonding oil is similar in that it smooths hair but is applied as a final step.”
If you think that Olaplex is breaking your hair, it could be that your hair may have already sustained severe damage.
Olaplex made its three-step hair-care procedure available to the general public in response to market demand. The instructions are still rather detailed, so those who might not have the patience or unable to understand them properly would probably get unfavourable outcomes.
DO NOT OVER USE X
DO NOT LET IT SIT X
If you're using the product too much it is likely it will have the opposite effects
However, it is important to stop using the Olaplex products and SEEK EXPERT ADVICE if you strongly believe that it is the cause of more damage!!

I've been using Olaplex regularly for 3 years. Despite being abused by bleach, my hair is soft, shiny, and is so long it reaches my hips. 🤷🏻♀️
Hii
It would b great if u could tell that how much time does one bottle of olaplex number 7 last for u??
I mean how many uses??
@@hinanandwani99401 year
Good for you, it made mine brittle. And yes. It made them fall out.
@@anti_fascist it did the same for me.
Same! My hair wouldn’t grow past my shoulders and now it’s waist length!
My hair loves Olaplex. The product took my damaged hair and repaired every strand. It prevented me from having to cut my hair completely off and start over. My hair is long and healthy. I will continue to use it per the instructions on the label. I am a strong supporter.
Which olaplex number helped you the most
Hope you don't work there
It helped me so much too! My hair is the longest & healthiest it’s ever been b/c of Olaplex, specifically No. 3. I honestly think ppl are misusing it. They probably should’ve just stuck to keeping it a professional instead of opening it up to consumers. Ppl don’t even know how to properly wash their bodies, let alone clarify their hair. 😅 It was a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Not everything will work for everyone!!!
And this works for me, I use about once every week or two.
Idk how I’m seeing anything bad about olaplex, so my natural hair was damaged due to excessive heat and tight hairstyles, I discovered olaplex and I literally threw everything else away. I’ve never seen my hair flourish the way it does now. Full of body, shine, and very strong
What olaplex number did you use? Cause I have the same issues 😢
What olaplex number
@@Idkwhattodotoday3number 3
@@Mina9135number 3
@@Mina9135hi there. I can answer your questions. My hair was naturally coarse and frizzy. Now it’s super soft and waist length. It wouldn’t grow past my shoulders. I use numbers 4, 5 and 7. If you have any questions I’d be happy to help 😊
For anyone wondering this is about the olaplex shampoo and not the olaxplex treatments.
No, He clearly adresses all Olaplex products.
I am a hairdresser and Olaplex damaged my hair. The first thing I noticed was excessive amounts of hair shedding with washing, then came the hair breakage and extreme dryness. After meeting with my own hairdresser and hearing a similar experience with her, I stopped using all Olaplex products 3 months ago. My hair is starting to grow back, the amount of hair shedding had decreased by 1/2-3/4 (normal shedding) and the breakage and dryness has also decreased by 90% (it’s winter and my hair is highlighted, so I expect some dryness and breakage). The breakage however should continue to decrease once the Olaplex damage has been cut out of my hair. This is a long game and I’m expecting my hair to be back to its full and shiny state by summer 2024. If anyone needs tips on products that I believe are helping my hair, I would be happy to recommend.
I've been using olaplex no 3 for the past 2 years and my hair for some reason is thinner now than it ever has been. I don't know if its becuase of my iron deficiency or its the olaplex but my hair slowly became thinner ever since starting olaplex treatments.
Please do list your products that are helping your hair xx
@@btshwaiting I stopped all Olaplex products and switched back to my normal hydrating shampoo and conditioner and started using Redken acidic bonding concentrate once a week. This is a pre-shampoo treatment. Wet your hair apply the product, leave on for 10 minutes, rinse, then shampoo and condition as normal. After my shower I spray in a leave in conditioner Redken One United or Amika hydro rush. If you can only purchase 1 of the products I suggested the Redken 10min weekly treatment. Then a drug store leave in conditioner. TJMaxx has professional products that you could find a leave in conditioner as well, without breaking the bank. If you need more help, please reach out.
What’s a good conditioner for wavy thick hair that won’t cause hair loss ?
Me too.my hair became thinner.what product I need to prefer?any suggestion for me.
Can you please recommend what products have worked better for you? My hair is chemically treated but it got so dry, porous and damaged that I don’t know what to do!
I’ve been using Ola Plex and it’s amazing and it does wonders for my hair❤
It is customers using it wrong or buying it from a non reputable website or person. I've used it since 2014 and it works perfectly❤
Yes generally it’s caused by not using the system correctly as advised. Of course there are fake products on the market unfortunately 😕
Any hair treatment that has biotin and keratin or a bonding agent should not be used long term. The hair will eventually not have any flexibility and will snap off. These are meant to be used as a treatment to repair and then work with a product that provides extensive moisture thereafter.
what products would you recommend for hair moisture?
Funny you say that b/c Olaplex gave my hair the flexibility that it didn’t have before by repairing those bonds (4c natural). My hair was like a steel wool before, you’d move my hair in a direction and it wouldn’t move back, it would just stay there. Now my hair is so pliable which I didn’t even believe a hair type like mine could be. Maybe what you’re saying is true when overused or for other brands but the tech behind Olaplex is what sets them apart. They repair disulfide bonds (the strongest of the bonds) where as it seems like other brands only repair the salt or hydrogen bonds. All I know is that my hair hasn’t seen anything better.
Idk I’ve been using olaplex for almost a decade but ONLY when my hair is bleached. I have black curly hair and bleach it to platinum blonde. I still have nice curls because of the olaplex.
None of those products except the shampoo should be on your scalp, there’s no reason for it to be causing hair loss
That’s what I’m saying! It’s most definitely user error or ppl aren’t buying them from a reputable source. Last I checked, Amazon isn’t one of them.
It's not overuse. I used it per the bottles instructions only a few times and started feeling itch and pain and noticeable hair breakage and thinning that has only increased even though I stopped using it.
If you experienced itching and pain then you were probably just allergic
I used JUST the 4c shampoo for about seven months twice a week. My hair is falling out in full handfuls. I threw it in the trash. This is AFTER they say they’ve reformulated it. Do not use this mess. I’ve gotten a minimal ingredient shampoo bar with castor oil and doubling my collagen intake to repair. My hair was so thick a year ago, now it’s dull, limp, lifeless and 40% less thick
Sweet heart, you were using a clarifying shampoo twice a week? For seven months?! Bless your heart! A simple Google search would have told you that clarifying shampoo should be used max like once or twice a month. Clarifying shampoo is the harshest shampoo available. It is stripping, and should only be used if you have a massive amount of build up that a normal shampoo cannot handle. It makes sense that your hair is weak and damaged now. I wish you the best and that your hair recovers.
@@SashaStowersI saw 4c shampoo and two times a week and my jaw dropped.
Shot . I noticed my hair breaking off more after using for a month
my mom recommends these, and she’s a hair stylist 🤷♀️
I have multiple chemical sensitivity and I prefer NO perfume but these companies always have one. 😢 it's so hard to find products without it.
i do as well!! what products do you use? shampoo, conditioner, clothes detergent. i’m struggling a lot atm finding anything suitable
@pleistoceneposer i have found a few things on Amazon or in town. How severe are you? Do you know your worst triggers ? I had seen a naturopath for it once and reduced symptoms a little but that was almost 10 years ago..since my last pregnancy some smells got worse. It is very hard to find completely unscented stuff so I try to find mild natural sourced scents (as some essential oils still bother me) vanilla can be ok etc if its truly natural. There are more brands willing to use natural products now vs 15 years ago!
@@HopePhotoG ya this is basic stuff. not what i was asking
@pleistoceneposer well i have different triggers than what my mom or dad do, same with my husband and others I know with it so I wouldn't want to recommend something that worked for me but might not for you. I can find some completely unscented or fragrance free brands to recommend though if you prefer that. Some unscented isn't the same as fragrance free though something I didn't realize before
Nature clean is found in many places and is ok.
What I noticed is if my hair is damaged it fixes it over time. But then after a certain point it will start to make my hair feel dry. Then I stop using it. And it's fine. Only use when your hair NEEDS IT
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EDUCATING US.💖🌟💖
I used it 4 times and have had heavy hair shedding for the past few months. I noticed this week how thin my hair looked and how I can see more of my scalp now. It’s horrifying and I need to know if it’s ever going to grow back!!!
This may seem like an odd question, but have you had a covid infection recently?
@@AetherealGirl No, never had Covid that I’m aware of.
@@AetherealGirlcovid doesn’t do this lmao
@@poluyphemus Yes it does you donkey. It happened to me and several other women I know. It's called televangium effluvium. Literally go ask any dermatologist. If you can't afford to see a dermatologist then go watch one of the dozens of youtube videos on the subject. Dr. Dray has several.
@@poluyphemusCovid and people that were exposed to covid have hair loss. Look at the research and articles. There’s a HUGE influx of people losing hair ever since covid hit the scene.
My hair start to fall a lot also
I’m only using the conditioner, and my waves are curling🤔 so idk if I should continue after this, but it’s soooo soft, and I’ve seen a change in brushing. So much easier to brush, but I’ll keep an eye on the fall out.
any updates?
Very helpful, thanks
I love Olaplex and I feel these claims are wildly exaggerated.
I agree that I’d love to see fragrances nixed from all hair care and skin products. However almost all hair masques and treatments are fragranced. Olaplex isn’t special in this regard. Also agree that it shouldn’t be overused.
I use Olaplex no. 3 . And my scalp feels hot and itchy and a lot of it falls out
don't use it on your scalp, only us it on your ends and mid-ends
It seems to be a gamble. I'm a member of a group which has thousands of people suffering the effects from this product.
Some only used it a couple of times and others maybe a bit longer. It's quite a strange phenomenon..
I don’t know Olaplex really makes my hair dry.
After just one wash I noticed loads of little baby hairs sticking up, turns out it was mass breakage! Defo did not get on with my hair type thank god I didn't continue with it
whats your hairtype?
I did an olaplex hair spa and it ruined my hair. 😢😢😢😢
olaplex is not meant for longtime use, you can put TOO MUCH proteins back in your hair with can make it horrible again, so please dont over use 🥺 if its used properly it will not cause damage
will it effects eczema on face? 😅
My hair has been falling out horribly!!! I am so upset!!!
I think Olaplex should start giving people a portion or all of their money BACK💯
So by what I’ve heard is it ruins hair but do those people use both #0 and #3? And are they using it properly? If someone could tell me they used both properly and it ruined their hair then I won’t buy it. I have damaged wavy hair. It’s dry, has a ton of spilt ends, is super frizzy, and has a crap ton of breakage. It’s all heat damaged and I have low porosity hair. I really wanna style my hair curly but the frizz is insane. I’ve been doing research on what I can do to reduce breakage and split ends, and olapex came up. Can anyone help me pleaseee??????
found anything? I have damaged wavy hair also
@@channieuwur I found nothing and I didn’t buy it, I was scared it would be too much for my hair so I just started with shea moisture and it’s been healing it nicely
hi most of the people in this lawsuit have had a reaction to the shampoo and not to the other treatments. So as long as you don't use the shampoo and don't put the treatments on your scalp i think you are good to go.
Try k18 Abby Young raves about it
People just don’t know how to use it.
Enlighten me please because my hair is shedding like a husky
And I have thick luxurious hair.
How are they using it the wrong way according to you?
If it can be used incorrectly (which i can't see how it can be used THAT incorrectly) then it should come with a warning for hair loss ⚠️
@@MADOUT_VPS that could be for a lot of reasons, like stress or hormone changes. But with Olaplex, people don’t use as instructed, they use it too frequently and/or leave it in too long. Too much protein / keratin bond treatments have the opposite intended effects.
no they are not using it incorrectly. it looks like their shampood have som irritants in them so i only recommend using their products that are not shampoos.
Olaplex doesn’t have protein in it…
❤🧬
It’s because they use it wrong
Stop using products that are so full of chemicals
Clean beauty is the biggest lie there is you fool
It’s not always chemicals
Water is chemical, our body also is full of chemicals like acid in our stomach, we are breathing also oxygen. Everything is made of atoms...
Then how am I supposed to fix my damaged hair? It won't fix alone if I just leave it like that.
@rickymulyadi7585 What "chemicals" are you talking about? Water is a chemical, and so is air which is made up of multiple chemicals. While I agree people should be cautious of keratin in products, especially because most consumers don't use it as directed. I do not agree with your fear mongering and misinformation of the word "chemicals". Before writing a comment, please try and educate yourself better.
