Just wanted to jump in her and say Mitch, watching trashmen in your country is just crazy. Should be an Olympic sport. The guys in this video have some serious talent.
Excellent Video, why cant all citys be like this. You guys make it looke organized and well maintained with seperation. I am not sure if the residents are provided those recycling bins. If thats the case, every city should organize the same proceedures. Were would we be if we were all uniformed as your city program is.
I've always wondered what the bottom sections were for underneath the glass compartments. Not the first time I've seen this video, and definitely won't be the last.
+Sanitation94 I've always wondered that myself now that you bring it up. At first I thought it might be for a specific product, but now I think it's just for non-recyclables, because they do need somewhere to chuck the contamination. I watched the Woollahra video and it doesn't really look like the occasional toss into the bottom is a bottle of some kind, even up as close as I got it doesn't look like containers in there.
Oh Botany's got 240L's for the garbage, but I reckon they should get new bins. I don't think Blacktown's going to be getting a greens bin, because it all goes to the Eastern Creek UR-3R facility - do you know otherwise?
Nope no kinda packer, only things that comes close is smashing the glass :) VES only does the paper and bottles; you know what the bottle truck is and I'm not totally sure about the paper truck - but it's an RL, I'm sure I'll find out when I'm in Woollahra. The council does the garbage and greens; I only saw the garbage truck that morning, but it looks like it's JP5s for everything - also could swear I saw a brand new one!
Yer I bet they are as well, bloody hard work - but they said the fun part is smashing the glass lol One of them told me they'll probably be changing the service soon somehow, dunno if it's going to be with MGBs or just mixing all the bottles instead of sorting... coz you know, this can be a pretty dangerous system. I'm sure eventually all the councils will start with bins, I reckon down there they'd just need a weekly 140L co-mingle. Thanks for the words.
Awesome crew on this truck! Enjoyed their speed and motivation. Worked a bit differently from the other video in Woolhahra. Are there a lot of missed stops? I thought I saw several times when they skipped some crates. Have you seen the recycling bus? I remember this kid Jordan had video of one, but he has since removed it. Are there any cameras on the back? Seems like most of it is based on whether the driver sees them hop off the back through the mirrors. Also do a lot of items that need to be sorted fall into the middle glass section (green I think)? Looked like the overflow from the tray fell into that compartment at times. GREAT video!
***** Those crates they skipped were for paper and cardboard which had already been done, although I did spot a yellow crate towards the end that they appeared to pass haha I'm sure you got the odd missed pick-up due to a crate being hidden behind a car or the boys are too busy sorting they don't spot one. Yes there is a camera on the back - it isn't clear, but it sits directly underneath the beacon. Not sure if materials overflowed into the glass compartments, like I'm sure they would try to avoid it, but it would be sure to happen at times when they empty the wheelie bins. I wonder how many times they chucked the wrong colour glass into the wrong compartment :P
sometimes platics would fall in but you could reach in or pick them up at the tip and botany was different to woolahara, the streets are wider so you do one side, but in tight streets you do both sides. You could do both sides in wide streets but then the sorter is running across the road and then sorting as well, just easier to do one side. Also most of the time you hardly would get missed services, because the crew had been doing it that long they knew where the hidden ones were.Sometimes you would if it was a new crew or person on
@Binboy97 Yes that is a lifter on the side, but the guys never use it. I won't be returning to Botany Bay, already videoed another of these trucks in Woollahra and that's the last of where they are used as far as I know.
here we have a rear loader w/ 2 guys and a driver. they're probably faster than these guys cuz they dont have to sort everything. the just empty the bin and fling it back to the curb
Yer I was hoping they would use the tipper for those bins towards the end, but obviously didn't - I bet it's because it's a slow piece of shit. When I'm in Woollahra I'll see if the guys can operate it (if there's a lifter on their truck).

I've never seen recycle picked up like that, very impressive! Thanks for posting this! 5*
That is the weirdest trash collection I have ever seen. Nice truck!

@Binboy97 Lately I've seen a regular rear loader doing the bottles, not sure if they still do the sorting in Woollahra.

he's not even tossing the bins back too the right homes LOL

I pretty sure it was Botany Bay where I saw URM using a Mercedes Benz rear loader for bottle recycling would that be right?
good job boys
Oh OK then. I wanted to stop a video it but had no time.
its better organized in holland, but those guys are great.

City of Sydney is where you would've seen it - URM has nothing to do with Botany Bay.
