The KeiTR is down! The turbo blew up, so it’s time for a new one! Watch as we change the turbo on my Suzuki Every DA64V Kei van!

In future, Two things: 1) You can clean out catalytic converters with soap and water or degreaser then air dry them. 2)Coolant hose clamps will help you avoid spraying coolant in your mouth haha although you didn't expect it to happen obviously. KTR is back in action!
Cleaning your cats can rust them removing the platnium palladium and rhodium also will start rust inside you exhuast even if you aulir dry them youve removed a lot of protectives in the metaldegreaser is the only way to clean it
That’s the pain on working on a Suzuki kei car. Fun to own but hard to wrench into haha. Blown my turbo too and it was hell. Btw you should’ve bought the high flow ones instead of the rebuilt option.

Out of all your builds Sam, I love the Kei van as it is different. But the S15 is a very close second.
Sam the bolts for the turbo will come off with lefty loosey, not righty tighty ;)

For things like manifold bolts or presumably similar things on turbos, the usual technique is a straight wrench, or maybe something with an offset, hit it with the heel of your hand, or something with about the same force, tends to shock it loose. (Wobble extensions and the like are really useful but harder to keep in line. )
Hitting the spanner with your palm isn't very good for your hand in the long run, just a tip for future you
@@sicklad3277 Well, that's why I also suggested an equivalent, (I often use the side of a mallet for instance, cause I got skinny hands compared to old dudes that taught me that. :) )
@@OllamhDrab Funny you say that, the old bloke at work told me "don't do that!", apparently it isn't good for the tendons in your hands you'll slowly loose your grip strength after a few years, stay safe 👍
@@sicklad3277 I imagine you wouldn't want to be doing it every day, anyway, the point's really the effect on the studs/nuts on things like that. (I don't have like meaty dude-hands myself anyway, so basically I'll replicate the effect with a thing, especially cause arthritis. :) But even with all the other people's stuff I work on it only comes up so often.

Clean the O2 sensor after the cat just undo it then use a map gas or propane torch to burn the tip white/red hot then tiny dab of copper anti-seize on the threads and reinstall... subaru trick ya ya they all burn oil

It'd be awesome if you traded in the current KTR and get V2 of the KTR. Hopefully the trade in will be more long term and you can go to town with underglow and a wrap !!!!

Daily content is always good start 1 thing a day on every car to get them all fixed
I blew a turbo on a log truck I was driving through the woods and I had to find a spot to pull off probably two miles from where it started blowing smoke. When the mechanic was coming out to find me he said he just followed the plume of smoke through the trees. When turbos go in them things its like the start of an apocalypse.
Penetrating oil will help with the bolts. Spraying after allowing to cool a little will keep the fire risk to a minimum. The rattle gun will do the rest, unless you prefer the satisfying squeak of the bolt releasing. A set of hose clamps will help a lot with coolant and fuel hoses on any project. Hate to see this Kei van go, but if you can get a deal on a newer one with more creature comforts, go for it! After the deal you got in Okinawa, I know you can make it happen.

It was a great video. I knew that would be a pain in the ass to change that. That mini turbo looks like the mini turbo in the Chevrolet Cruze, I changed one on that car and it was a pain but seeing you do it on this van with limited mount of space must've of been a nightmare, that would drive me nuts lol. You had me laughing when coolant went in your mouth lmmfao, I hate it when that happens.

Looks like my first engine I rebuilt, got bad advise on how to seat the rings and had to pull it all apart again.

Great video!. Look at getting the Honda NBox Custom Kei van instead (660 turbo twin cam) if you can!. they look super cool !!. I Would love to import one into Australia if possible! under the New car import rule!.

Get pb blaster it will help with stuck bolts! It’s magical!
When a bolt is stuck...first try to tighten it a bit and then you will be able to loosen it

I really wish cars and bikes were built with a bit more of accessibility in mind. That's what I love with bicycles. Mountain bikes are pretty complex nowadays, but still a breeze compared to a motorbike or car :O

Could bits of the cold side have gotten into intercooler/intake?, hopefully not or bits of turbo could end up in engine :(.
next time get some penetrant for the manifold bolts, spray them leave it for an hour and you'll notice a world of difference. There's some amazing products out there now for exactly that problem

The trick is to pour a little petrol down the exhuast/cat and rinse the oil out a couple of times before bolting it back on. Takes ages to burn out all that old oil.....

I know it was a smoke machine but pro tip for crusty rusty exhaust is get it super hot then crack them loose - will make it mucho easier

Sammit did you pull off the waste gate vacum line on turbo and thats what caused your turbo to blow? Somehow me thinks a turbo on a vehicle like that wiuldnt blow unless it was "modified" somehow. Not hateing done it myself on BFMR 323 and it blew sameday lol...
