I love it when people claim that the Bible doesn't condone blood magic. That's all this chapter is about; using blood as a magical catalyst to anoint people. Once again, the more you read the Bible, the more God appears as the villain of the story.

Studying the bible this closely (particularly in your post about the number of people god killed or had killed) really finished off any lingering faith - the god of the bible is SO evil (and petty and weak) that it doesn't matter if the tiny shreds of evidence for christianity actually amount to anything whatsoever. And this weekly posting of chapter by chapter (like the Abbott & Costello bit "slowly I turned, step by step . . . ") really make my week.

      Clarification on a few definitions:
      - Faith = strong belief in the absence of evidence
      - Goodness = moral or virtuous
      - Virtue = behavior showing high moral standards
      Reminders:
      - Faith flew planes into buildings on Sept 11, 2001
      - Faith burned pilgrim women alive for the supposed crime of being "witches"
      - Faith led the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades
      - Faith motivated the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas to perform human sacrifices and rip the hearts out of children
      - Faith massacred over 1 Million Armenian men, women and children in the First World War
      - Faith caused the KKK to mass murder
      - Faith chops off the heads of reporters
      - Faith motivated the genocide, enslavement, and cultural destruction of America's Indigenous peoples in the name of Christ
      - Faith is why we keep finding mass graves of hundreds of First Nations children stolen from their families and "re-educated" in Christian schools
      - Faith completely endorses owning human beings as property, and beating them to near-death
      - Faith keeps woman enslaved, subjugated, and brutally mistreated today
      - Faith is why Shia and Sunni Muslims have been killing one another for more than 1,500 years
      - Faith hid over 10,000 cases of child rape and protected over 4,000 Catholic priests
Faith gives people warm and fuzzy feelings, and a sense of superiority. The price is entirely too high.
Faith is a crutch, and completely unnecessary.
People should be good to one another because it is the right thing to do. Period.

This chapter is a good example of how Yahweh is not Omnibenevolent. If He is as truly all-loving, he wouldn’t had demanded animal sacrifice in order to become priests like Aaron and his sons.
    Exodus 29:1-3
Does anyone here feel bad for all those bulls and rams that were slaughtered in the name of Yahweh? Also, what’s with the obsession with having loaves with no yeast? What is “God” going to do with the loaves of wheat bread? Put them in the altar?
    Exodus 29:4-9
Is this a list of instructions for future priests? If the second half of Exodus is spent on building up to priesthood, why couldn’t Yahweh just get all his talking points across? If he would’ve gotten all his talking points across, then what was the point in Leviticus and Deuteronomy? They would be pointless if Exodus is the book to set up all these laws and shit.
    Exodus 29:10-14
Very specific on how to slaughter an innocent bull that has done nothing to anyone. The bull wasn’t even a threat to anyone. Does the Bull symbolize Sin Offerings?
    Exodus 29:15-18
You’d think the ram would have witnessed what Aaron and his sons did to the bull. That Ram would’ve protected itself with its horns. Even as a meat eater, I would’ve been “WTF? Isn’t God Omnibenevolent? Why is He asking for animals to be killed?” For the sake of priesthood.. If this is what makes a priest that involves killing baby animals, then fuck it. I want no part in such a scheme. What was so holy about Burnt offerings?
    Exodus 29:19-21
What the fuck!? Aaron and his sons slaughtering the other ram, smearing blood on some parts of themselves (right ears, thumbs of their right hands), smear some blood on the altar and their garments?
    Exodus 29:22-26
What is the wave offering? Does also involve sacrificing animals just like all the others? What makes it so different than the typical offerings?
    Exodus 29:27-28
Fellowship offerings? Is that another offering that involves animal sacrifice? Does God have a blood fetish or something with all the slaughtering that happened throughout the Bible thus far? Wtf is wrong with Yahweh?
    Exodus 29:29-30
Spoiler Alert! This didn’t happen. You will see why in the Book of Leviticus and Numbers.
    Exodus 29:31-34
So no leftovers aloud? Ah nice.. So Yahweh exclusively allows Aaron and his sons to eat the meat of the rams and the unleavened bread, but everyone else isn’t allowed just because they’re sacred? Way to stick it to the poor and needy! I’m sure Yahweh’s love is “unconditional”. It’s a “Ha ha fuck you because I’m God” moment. Such a dick.
    Exodus 29:35-37
How does Yahweh expect people to have a bull at their disposal to sacrifice as a sin offering to make atonement? What if they don’t have however many bulls required to survive these ridiculous laws? To please a fucked up celestial tyrant? Fuck that! The altar being a holy version of the Midas touch... At least King Midas is interesting.
    Exodus 29:38-41
Is anyone tearing up at the horror here? God is asking his men to kill baby lambs. I want to find a lamb and give it a hug. I’m just going to let a certain friend stop by. (m.ua-cam.com/video/IcYHdaUx3hA/v-deo.html m.ua-cam.com/video/2hY-W5BI6KI/v-deo.html)
(11:27) If this is what it takes to be a priest with all the vile crap, then it’s not worth it to me. Being all fancy and flashy doesn’t mean a damn thing to me. It may as well explain the repulsive nature of Leviticus (That book is about priesthood if I recall correctly).

I remember reading through this the first time. I thought it was seriously effed up. I also thought how is this different from any of the other so-called primitive belief systems which practiced animal sacrifice? And I also thought it sounded like a sweet deal for the priestly class. As long as people sinned and then made sin offerings, the priests would have food to eat.
I wonder how many Bible loving Christians who assert its inerrancy are aware of passages like these. Sure, some of talk of how Jesus' sacrifice eliminated the need for any further animal sacrifice. But have they really considered the implications of blood sacrifice? Do they not see their hypocrisy in calling indigenous cultures primitive and superstitious? Can they not see that their God's demand for a human blood sacrifice isn't really much different than the cartoon trope of tossing people into volcanoes to appease the volcano gods?
No doubt, some Christians will point out that the "volcano sacrifices" are just ridiculous attempts to exert some influence over elements completely beyond human control. A vain exercise since volcano gods aren't real and eruptions are natural occurrences, not some punishment from an angry deity. But what is the practice of Christianity, if not an attempt to have some measure of control over the fate of a person after death, something which is truly beyond any human control? The need for actual blood sacrifice may have been eliminated, yet are not Christians implored to sacrifice their earthly desires in order to gain eternal reward later? Is this not, in a way, the sacrifice of a fully human existence in the present moment here on earth for a possible blissful "life" in the afterworld? And do not some Christians still claim natural disasters, disease and suffering as punishments for the sinful behavior of others? Despite all the scientific advances made by humans over the centuries, here in the twenty-first century ignorance and superstition are still very much with us.

So they fled from Egypt, from enslaved bondage so bad it justified wiping out almost an entire nation and it's army, right?
Then they went for a 40 year hiking expidition in the desert. Desert, I'm telling you. Carrying what little they owned (plus what goods they extorted from the surviving egyptians just before skipping town).
And now, Moses tells them to make houses of gold with matching interior design, curtains made of the most expensive fabric, in the most expensive colours, and structures of specific wood.
On top of this, he needs frocks, because, hey, who doesn't want to do Priscilla Queen of the desert in Sinai, am I right? And these frocks can not just be any old hand-me-downs. Oh no, they are to be lavish as F**k.
And what would La Moses be without his back-up dancers? So let's get them dressed up in all sparkly outfits as well.
But what would a gala be, if it has no delicious (and pleasing) offerings? Nothing, I tell you. Nothing!
Let's get this disco rolling with excessive butchery. At least one big beast of burden a day. And also looad of loafs of bread. But hold back on the yeast.
So, where are we at here?
The suffering israeltites or a wealthy band of thieves just wasting their excess spoils of war?
It is very unclear at this point, wether to feel sorry for them or not.
I mean, where did they find all these expensive luxury items, and food, and livestock?

When I was a believer, I would try to come up with "naturalized miracles" such as all the Exodus plagues and the god leading Moses as a cloud during the day, fire at night, was the result of the volcano on Thera (now called Santorini) around 1600 BCE. As the final stage, it collapsed and one could image the waters of the Mediterranean filling in, exposing dry land at the Reed Sea, than a tidal wave coming back to drown the Egyptians. (So one could claim that maybe this was the work of god or maybe this was seen as the work of god.) This theory was dashed to smithereens when I found out the Hebrews were never enslaved in Egypt, certainly not 600,000 men.
