    I've had to call Moen Customer service for a kitchen faucet set screw that came loose. Snugged it, but didn't help. Moen sent me a new set screw, handle, AND cartridge. Definitely was not expecting that. You are right, as always, Jim. Thanks

    Faucet manufacturers do not stamp name on faucets anymore. They might put label on built in supply line. I have been to many homes to repair a faucet, but couldn't find out who made it. They don't use washers in faucets anymore, just their own cartridge. I recommend Delta or Moen. Take a picture of the box with model # on it.

    Just subbed. I can say from doing most of my own plumbing work on faucets etc. You get what you pay for. I put some chepo 2 for one faucets in my master bath years ago and in 5 years the not only leaked everywhere they looked like hell. During the same phase I bought a looked nice but cheap kitchen faucets. It died in a year. Since then I payed for quality and zero issues years later.

      If you're talking about Moen from your local big box retailer, then I agree. Pretty much all faucets from there will completely suck since they've swapped out a bunch of the internals with cheap plastic.

      @@shawnbadger2737 I can't say where my parents got whatever they've had. I thought through their plumber. In any case, the parts that always break are plastic as you said. I just fixed a tub/shower valve a couple weeks ago too that was a Moen. From 2007. So It's not entirely unreasonable it failed. The other two haven't.

    It would be nice if you do a video about showers, shower valves based on your experience. We have three Moen showers that use the 1222 cartridge. Had to replace them in each shower over last few years. Could be because of harder water or debris, but didn't have this problem with other shower manufacturers. I stay with Moen because of their excellent customer service. They send the replacement cartridge for free and I know how to replace them. Had also problem with a Delta valve body that developed a crack, but it was quite old.

    Here's the reality, 90% of all faucet brands deal with the same suppliers in China..same molds are offeree woth slight design tweaks and different finishes. We, the consumers, think these brands are significantly different...spoiler alert, they are mostly all the same. Now CUSTOMER SERVICE varies by brand

    I was thinking Moen because I moved into a house with them and they go a long ways between repairs, and parts are available everywhere. I've lived here 42+ years and they were here when I got here. They still work like new but I've put a few cartridges in them but when you're done, you're done, none of this wondering why it still leaks and you need to recondition or replace other metal parts you didn't plan on.

If they use Delta, Moen, Kohler or American Standard to build their faucets, the manufacturer will use their parts so the parts would be easily available. Ferguson has their own Signature lines so they can make more money. To answer your question, this brand could be up to standards.

    I'm looking at a new kitchen faucet but will NOT be looking at Pfister. They pride themselves on their lifetime parts warranty, but the caveat is you have to have the original purchase receipt for the faucet or they refuse to help you get parts. I like the Pfister faucet I currently have, but it came with my condo... so no purchase receipt. Even when I clarified that I expected to pay for the replacement parts, they did not want to cooperate. Eventually they agreed to send the parts, but made a big stink about it being a one time occurrence. Now that my sprayer head is malfunctioning, I'm looking at replacing the whole faucet with some other brand.

    Here’s my problem. I went to the Kohler distributor. We put all Kohler in our house. Now we have no pressure. The plumber took my sink apart to make sure the contractor installed it correctly. He discovered the Kohler faucet is made with a 1/4” tube (= to a cocktail straw pressure) attached to the aerator, so the aerator CANNOT be adjusted or removed. I barely have any pressure, so I’m returning it!

    Sound advice. My pre-eminent builder put a toilet upstairs. It was named yes, but could rightly have been called El Junko,
    I wouldn't have checked based on builders reputation. An infrequently used room. When there was a monster water bill...guess the rest.
    Looking in the tank...more plastic than you've seen, the plastic chain got hung up, ghost flush.
    It's unconscionable really, how much is really saved by leaving off tried- and- true brass components.
    Ask Grump about this....what can be done about awful mark in toilet?
    Lots of videos say, fifty year old toilet doesn't have it, what's up with low flush toilets? Awful problem to have....forget --solid flush only.
    It is unsightly and labor intensive, people are using pumice which is sure to scratch. Bleach, lime deposit remover, it's expensive and never ending,
    My uneducated opinion is, the water allocated to the bowl was not modified when they went to low water flush.
    I've done all the "clear the holes with a paper clip", drain and examine, lightly sand the flap insuring a good fit, it's functional, what is that unsightly
    stain at the water line in the bowl?
    It is a worldwide problem, seriously.
    Where's your tip jar? On lots of YT's, there's a Thanks icon by the Share button.

    I have a 5 year Blanco kitchen faucet that is running slow so the plumber said I needed a "check valve" but Blanco says the faucet has been DC'd and there is no replacement part so he and a plumbing company recommended a Moen - from the comments I am reading I see why. But the specs for a Moen are different than the specs on the Blanco. I will probably end up getting a Blanco because that is the granite hole size that fits.. I would not recommend Grohe because the finish wore out on two handles. All these companies are out to make money PERIOD.

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  9 місяців тому

      The hole in your granite countertop should be 1 3/8”. That is standard so any faucet should fit. It would have been cheaper to replace those Grohe handles, that might have been under warranty and parts would still be available today, than having to buy a new kitchen faucet.

      @TheGrumpyPlumber  9 місяців тому

      I recommend the Blanco over a Delta faucet. I believe the cartridge for your Blanco was made by Hans Grohe, which is a different company than Grohe. Masco owns Hans Grohe and Delta but they are two different faucets. Have you disconnected the head of the faucet from the hose? Do that, then turn on the water and see how the pressure is. If you have good pressure, then the problem is in the head. Inside the head, there are two removable check valves. They come out very easily. Remove them, reconnect the head and see how your pressure is then. I’m not positive this will work but try it.

    I could see why this guy is grumpy. He’s been out of the game way too long. It’s a new world out there.
    All the brands he has recommended are way over priced, thanks to our Chinese partners. All of Delta‘s parts are made in China the same as all the other companies. Consumer Reports even stop reviewing kitchen sink faucets years ago because they came to the conclusion, they are pretty much all the same quality. Installed a HIOKAY faucet a year ago for $26 from Amazon, which is less than the sales tax would be on a Delta. it’s been working fine has all of the exact same features as the $300 models, brushed nickel, brass inside, ceramic cartridge mixing valve, and pex water supply hoses extremely easy installation 15 minutes. That’s why he is the grumpy old plumber because nobody is calling him anymore.👨‍🔧🚰😢
