As a note for the AA in smoke, a while back you would have AA tracers work just like guns - it would lead the CV/blind fire to your exact location. Now it will be from all over whatever puff of smoke you are in so sitting on the edge of puffs ensures even a good CV will only hit with luck.
My first t10 has a special place in my heart but sadly it's also slightly tarnished because of how bad I was and how garbage her stats are... my poor Monty
I actually find it useful to drop the 2 point "swift-fish" skill (that gives minimal benefits to an already hyperlow reaction time of these torps) and get 2 one-pointers. 1) it is the "liquidator" skill (+30% to flood chance). DW torps have a high base flooding chance, combined with the flags, you reach a fat 605%. HUGE! 2) it's the never used, 1 pointer, "Consumable specialist". It actually buffs with a -10% the reload time of the torp reload booster. On a 5 minutes CD, in addition with the -5% given by November Foxtrot flag, you cut the reload down to just few seconds over 4 mins. This equals more often TRB ready = more torps in the water with high flood chance = more dmg and impact on the game. In this way, it's pretty common to use ALL the TRBs in a game, which are a "waste of potential dmg" if unused, similarly to french MBRB. For just one point skill, it's pretty awesome imho. Your explanation about selecting radar for a dd only compliments a gunboat is an excellent way of explaining it. When you said it, it seemed obvious, but I had never thought of it like that before. A radar dd's purpose is to contest caps and kill dd's. YY sucks at that because of low dpm, high shell arcs, deepwater torps, and a lack of smoke if you choose radar. They are all disadvantages against dds, so why try to play YY like a cap contestor or dd killer? Smalland and Black are good radar boats because Smalland has great guns and Black has good enough guns to outtrade a dd when used from its smoke, especially if it can catch the dd charging deep into radar range. Even Z52's long-range hydro is only workable because the guns can be ok if you are smoked up and catch a dd bow in. Good point, PQ. People say super unicorns are lucky, but maybe they are smart too...
@BeeniBeeni That's a good point, specifically about competitive where you have better communication and focused fire on a target. You can tell your team you are going to radar in 10s, and the target is located here. Everyone turn your turrets and be ready. In that situation, even a low dpm dd can win a gun fight with a superior dpm dd.

IMHO, since the reload for TRB is 5 minutes, I'd prioritize getting into a good torp position at the beginning of the game so that by the time my torps load for the first time I can launch and immediately use TRB. Due to a lack of early game spotting, these may be blind torps, but I feel that it is important to get the initial TRB cooldown started asap. 5 minutes is a long cool down. You only get a maximum of 3 uses if you use it on cooldown & if the game lasts close to 20 minutes. What do you, the comment section, think? Agree, disagree, hate me for even typing a comment?
I only agree in asashio where I do the same. The cool down for torps and TRB synchronises perfectly. This works due to the sync + 20km range. I'd save torps on YY until a situation where you could double strike or your reload is down but you see a good opportunity to strike.
I wouldnt run superintendent on YY. Enough smokes and little pressure on the TRB. You just use it when the opportunity is great. Which rarely happens more than 2 times per game with 5 minutes in between.
I always play radar yueyang with full conceal build. Its simply more unique, usually more fun and forces you to play the team objective. Catches a lot more people than you'd think by surprise, because they expect you to use smoke in randoms. Holler/div with a friendly cruiser, wait till the enemy dd starts to cap, then go in, radar outside your detection range. Finish off the dd with your cruiser.More often than not, one of you two will get first blood. Most people think its just a gearing so they can gunfight but you cant. You spot dds with your conceal/radar and let others do the job. Then you continue on and make life hell for BB/CV/CA
I'd be interested to see how he compares YY to shima. As a BB player I'd imagine he has an easier time landing deep water torps so that may make his review somewhat bias. Imo he's been playing this ship like a worse shima. Playing to shimas strengths and not fully utilising the abilities of the YY.
@@HoshikawaHikari with it's high HE alpha probably. in a 1 on 1 Shima can also use torps to kill the YY. the Shima is also more stealthy. the YY definitely benefits from this buff but to be honest I think Shima will still be the better pick (in general i wouldn't recommend anyone a torp boat since gunboats are objectively better)

Pan Asian DD (less ships, 2 special commanders) is more likely to be running a unique commander than a Japanese DD (more ships, 3 special commanders) ... so, I guess there is that.
@@zacharyjackson1829 YY has higher DPM but the shell velocity is much worse so it would depend on the range and type of engagement. Obviously as the YY you wouldn't chase the shima but in a fair fight you should win as you'll spot him at 5.6km.
Ah this is from one year ago... i build my yy with legendary with ifhe and range. I tried that build with radar it does not go well unless you have plenty of island to hide
hi new to your channel.. good vids keep at it..Would love to see you do vids on some older ships and lower tiers maybe with tip on how to run them now days. i think there a lot of fun ships at tier 3-7 that can use vids on and it help new and older players who use them.

Isnt that just a test ship for a different vermont platform similar to the german aircraft carrier W. Voss which was just to try some different parameters compared to the m.v.r. So i dont think a full fledged review is necessary there.
With radar Yueyang is much more fun, in my opinion. I play with radar and with radar skill for commander (don't know how it calls in English). Another way Yueyang is just ordinary boring ship

Wanna hear something worse about double subs.... The Musashi can only drop depth charges 5km away from itself. How's that for sub BS. And lets not forget it's AA is pitiful, as well. Guess WG decided to nerf it via their pet special classes, alone.
I am not sure about the first game decision of leaving the whole left flank as a sole DD. With how often your smokes are ready, you would be easily binding the Daring and side-torping Constelation on A side. Use that AFK Monty as your spotting advantage. This can work pretty well even for a Shima, definitely good enought for a YY. Other DDs are really HIGH PRIORITY targets in such occasions and this Daring was "killable". You may not live with tons of hp, but as a good player you would be probably able to win that flank and maybe had a chance to turn the game?

:P well jeah you dont got to farm with Radar, but the first one was not better, you lost that game. Radar is better for winning games and this game shows. With Radar build use legendary as well and you get down to 2.5sek reload and 40sek radar.
