      @@joh2805 that's true, but people who buy these budget GPUs are more likely to buy a consumer GPU with better performance, because the driver stability is way less relevant for hobby projects.

    last year I got a WX-3200 off my local used marketplace(facebook) for only $50 CAD. I was my first experience with a AMD Radeon Pro It's a good card I use in my Optiplex with a i7 6700

      @@Miyconst The Optiplex didn't come with a GPU, only integrated graphics on the CPU And also I had a spelling mistake, I use it with a i7-6700 not 7700. The Radeon Pro WX-3200 I got used was just sold on its own and I would assume it is out of a HP of some sort because on GPUZ it shows the vendor as "HP". I had to get a full height bracket off ebay but that was only a few USD $ for it

      That's true, Nvidia video encoder was superior back then, but AMD driver optimization is still impressive.

      AMD marketed the RX 480 against the 970/980, which the upgrade is a 1070, not the 1060. RX 580 is the same card, so it's going up against the 1070. Heck, even AMD placed 2xRX 480 against 1x1080, so it's competing against Nvidia's 1070 at minimum.
      RX 45/80, 970/80, 1070 and higher are good for 4K30 gaming capable.

      @@gabrielecarbone8235 No, AMD clearly marketed the RX 4/580 against the 970/980/1070, not the 960 or its later upgrade 1060.
      This hold up even today, as AMD decided to go for naming tier-to-tier system, rather than price-to-price.
      Back then it was:
      RX Flop series/Flop VII - Titan X/Xp
      RX 4/580 - 970/980/1070
      RX 4/570 - 960/1060
      RX 4/560 - 1050/Ti
      Now, as for AMD 6x50/X is competing against the Ti version.
      RX Flop series/Flop VII - Titan V/RTX
      RX 6900 series - 3090 series
      RX 6800 series - 3080 series
      RX 6700 series - 3070 series

    If you had a laptop with a MXM slot and a decent processor, would you use it as an MXM testbench?

    • @Miyconst

      I would, but I don't see much interest in the MXM GPUs since the normal ones came down in price significantly.

    • @MrKillswitch88
      @MrKillswitch88 Рік тому

      Got two of the mxm version as they are some of the most compatible cards that don't require any real effort to get working unlike some nvidia cards. What doesn't help that they are kinda rare especially at a reasonable price as they have to be harvested in most cases rather than as new old stock. I know that with a vbios flash they work in imacs which is partly why there is demand and the other is for upgrading older laptops.

    People still buy nvidia cards with 8 GB ram in 2022 like 3070ti, already vram limited when it came out. Look how much better 8gb are now with these low end cards compared to just 2gb less.
    Rx6800 16gb will eat 3080 with just 10gb in 2025
    Your point about Wx5100 being memory limited is wrong, it's the huge amount of cores with such a low TDP limit. If you rise the TDP, you will get much much more perfomance.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  2 роки тому +3

      I honestly don't think that RTX 3070 Ti buyers bother how it's going to perform in 2025, these people either upgrade each 1-3 years or just "🙈 give me Nvidia".
      You are correct about WX 5100, I am going to address it in the next video.

    • @mircomputers

      @@Miyconst there are people that just upgrade with "above average" cards and keep them until they last, i still have ppl come with Gtx970 and they could even keep that card but being just 3,5gb real ram it's not performing anymore at all, just S7150 is good for them, with old i7 4770 you can still play with high details (you are cpu bottleneck anyway) at 30 fps single player games like Warhammer Total War

    • @MrKillswitch88
      @MrKillswitch88 Рік тому

      Pretty much everything with less than 16gb is going to be low end or dead in around two years or so at least in AAA and there is already talk going around in Nvidia that they need to start making 32gb cards for retail.
