Buddy has owned the benchmark since he first came on the scene and it will be his forever. No-one had, has, or will ever have the "taste" that Buddy had.
The Master! Always bugs me for some reason ( still unknown as to why ) when I watch videos like this, I know who it is; hell I don't need to see the video. There is NO other! My own teacher was/is Eddie Rivers, who's recently retired from Asleep at the Wheel. Despite what some might think, he was never sleeping..... Always took me back to Buddy and Buddy's coursework when I got stuck......... LOVE !
Never a doubt with me, the best, the BIG E. Even today's best give their respects to the man who was their inspiration to play the elusive, technically difficult steel guitar. Buddy, you will give the harp playing angels in Heaven a reason to worry about keeping their jobs.
That was a special night, 13 of the worlds best Steelers, Laney, and this event, was a moment that should have been repeated but never was, it was MAGIC
Brilliant, alas I never got to see him live but have his self admitted best lick in my collection, The Dillards, I just saw a face. His Pachelbel canon was equally incredible!
@John Strader...Buddy Emmons wrote and performed for several years an instrumental he called “Nameless Shuffle”. A few years later, Laney Hicks wrote lyrics to his melody and called the song “A Love Like This”. She recorded it on one of her CDs “Matters of the Heart”, with Emmons playing steel.
Dave M thanks for the information sorry it took so long for the thanks i listen to this every time before i practice every once an awhile i'll get one note to sound something like one buddy might have played :) thanks again john
Laney did this on Unbroken Country Circle a week ago. She is a great vocalist. Wish I had a cut of her on that show. Would have to purchase the entire collection and that`s over $120.00.

The "Once" Great Steel convention has priced itself so only rich people can attend such a shame used to be about music then slowly became only about MONEY attendance drops every year wake up Dewitt!.
+packingten DeWitt is dead. So is the convention. No more. Prices may be an issue, but myself and many of my friends think that all of the greats we would go see have all passed on.
Wow...Laney Hick! Such a classy lady, showing so much love and respect for Buddy.
Laney is awesome,
Laney Hicks, hello from Tuscaloosa. She is awesome, her Dad was my MENTOR. the Late Great Dixie. Laney sings like an ANGEL!!

One of his best solo ever. Perfecr vibrato, perfect control and amazingly beautiful
Great tone and a great solo with lots of control
That was amazing. simply amazing.
That tone... Again! Is amazing
Look at all the faces of the steel pickers sitting behind him during the solo, this what is called a "jaw-dropping" moment.
