This car is possibly the last jaguar car ever made that resembles some of the traditional jaguar looks both on the outside and inside. I have a 1996 X300 XJ6 and a 2001 3ltr X Type. Both were designed by Geoff Lawson and his team. The new jaguar designs resemble the new Jaguar designs, which also resemble a lot of other cars inside and out. The grass is always greener on the other side until you get there. But only if you haven't learnt to fully enjoyed one side before you move to the other.
I recently purchased a 2003 X-Type with the 2.5 litre V6 motor, which has only travelled 119,000km (about 74,000 miles). Like the one in this video, the car I purchased drives beautifully and is very good condition for it's age and it also has 4 near new tyres. My X-Type is painted in British Racing Green and also has leather seats in the same colour and condition as the Jaguar in this video. The only issue I noted was the headlining was beginning to sag in a couple of places in the rear. I believe that I got a great bargain, only paying the equivalent of just under US$1,600.00 for the Jaguar, which incidentally came with the original Jaguar Manuals and service receipts for all work done over the past 10 years by the previous lady owner.
@@michaeldepow6663 Ah, that's what I love about UA-cam, always an 'expert' prepared to lend his knowledge to a subject, and this time the 'expert' is the world renowned Jaguar man michael depow (you really need to use capital letters at the start of your names). Alas, I don't have much to go on with your single word comment (is that maybe because you are unable to form a sentence I wonder?) But allow me to reply. "Junk" you glibly type. Well this piece of 'junk' as you so casually describe it has now covered an additional 60,000 miles in my brothers ownership, without a single issue. The only expense incurred has been oil changes and tyres. The car is still running fine, has no rust, no buttons that won't work, and is still worth what I paid for it. Now, unlike (I suspect) you, my brother has extensive knowledge of cars because he drives a recovery truck, hence I didn't buy him a BMW or an Audi, because a few minutes talking to him and he will soon set anyone straight on the cars that are the least reliable, and the 2 marques I mention are top on his list of "wouldn't have one if you gave me one"...and as I did indeed give him the Jaguar he talks from a position of knowledge....something I suspect the world renowned jaguar specialist (that would laughably be you) does not. To all the X Type Critics out there. You can believe that the X Type is a Mondeo in disguise or that it is just a cheap Ford. But to be fair, this critisism could have only been based on the comparison of the previous Jaguar cars. However in all fairness the X Type has still more of a Jaguar influence and connection with Jaguar than the XF and XE will ever have, other than just the name, badge and leaping logo, which in my opinion doesn't count for much after looking at an X Type. When the critics remarks have faded away, the traditional retro and beauty of the Jaguar X Type will certainly be considered a true and respected classic Jaguar car.
The four wheel drive would make this car pretty good for living in snowy conditions in the countryside. For this ridiculously low price tag I'm strongly concidering getting one and driving it in the winter.
I've had two sedans... a 2.5 then a 3.0... the 2.5 was mint and wrecked in a road rage incident.. not by me... then bought a 2.5 estate which I upgraded to a 3.0 sovereign estate... great cars to drive.
The A/C is totally Ford. Say what you will about that particular motor company and their penchant for plastic... but god damn do they know how to build a good A/C.

Jeremy Clarkson I presume? For all his complaining abut Jaguars, he has actually owned a few from the mid 90's to early 2000's. The thing about Jaguars is that if you like the old traditional thing about them, with the leather, wood and waft then they were great for the gentlemen style buyer. (Or the old fart) . I am a jaguar lover because I do like the old worldly experience. But I can't get that in the new modern jaguars or any other new modern car. Why? Because Jaguar began competing with BMW and and similar car ( Which there are plenty of) in the early 2000's and because Jaguar no longer offer the unique traditional style of car they once made, they have lost their niche market that made them famous. 75% of their factory out put, at one time found it's way to the US (Country, Continent or what ever). And the type of buyer in the US is not turned on by the newer cars they are producing. Finally I have to say this about choosing a car: If I wanted a fast car to pay lots of speeding fines and possibly kill my self in, then I would buy a sports car. I wouldn't want to be seen dead in a family car.
Antonios LesvosLover These cars are extremely reliable. I have a 2002 X-Type 3.0 Sport edition and to this day after 13 years and with 112,000 miles on it, it runs spectacularly and looks brand new! They are an extremely good value and hold up very well.
Since TATA of India Took over. The line up of most Jags changed abruptly. Plus removing some of it's models like this the X type and S type. Even style changed removing it's traditional looks with a more futuristic look on most of their cars today. Sad but that's what happened. 2009 was the last of the real jags IMO.

The leather is real, and top quality. The interiors of jaguar cars are unquestionably superior to BMWs. The 3.0 X Type is a powerful car and competes well with BMW 3 Series equivalent. As a used buy, it is better value too, car for car. The Ford platform is irrelevant, it's a totally different car to a Monroe. The 3.0 engine is bulletproof and delivers power aplenty in the small Jag body. In manual form it's s wolf in sheep's clothing.
Your doubly wrong because they are both very good cars. Having had both, my 20 year old 3.0 X Type has stood the test of time in every way, both mechanically and bodywork/paintwork durability. And there's no doubt the Jaguar interior remains superior. I'm not a biased Jaguar Man, bit over the past 20 years Jaguar has improved immensely in quality and reliability. I've had BMW and Mercedes too, they are modern cars with modern day issues just like Jaguars in terms of cost of maintenance. These German cars, particularly Mercedes, are often bemoaned as being not what they used to be in terms of build quality and reliability!
