I would like to get in touch with I believe it was Alan the gentleman in real-estate...been spending my winters basically in Thailand since 2014...will be in Thailand in less than 3 weeks for 4-6 months. I'm looking at living there sooner than later. I will be in Jomtien part of the time. Also missed the gentleman that does real-estate investment...thats my long term plan is to have 1-2 rentals to help with retirement some. I look forward to meeting yall...I will be 59 this month and from the US.
I think this series of TIT videos are the best to educate oneself on living in Pattaya. I watch them several times and learn so much. Keep up the good work Daz and Claudio. Many thanks.
Learn to speak Thai. Don't be flashy. Respect the laws. Respect the people. Don't buy property. Remember you are a guest in another country. Help the needy and homeless, including the homeless farang.
This channel is definitely for me. As a man in his 50s, I will be retiring early in a few years. My pension of only $2,300 USD will not begin until 4 years after I decide to move to Thailand. I'm fortunate to leave the U.S. with around $400k USD, but I'm very nervous about spending all that money before my pension begins. I don't want to spend more than $150k over the 4 years I am in Thailand until that income comes in. I am a sensible man, please reassure me if you can. I don't drink alcohol by the way. I have been to Thailand 3 times before the Corona virus.
My eyes have seen already... I think I'm hooked. Can't even imagine the amount of nostalgia I will feel when I get out of Pattaya. I still have several weeks but I'm pretty sure that I will be back very soon this winter already...
I have been to Jomtien 3 times in a year now and I will be back in November. I love the variety of people I meet everywhere. I met a very nice woman at a coffee shop and I met a wonderful woman at a fishing trip. I also take any possibility to chat with expats living there. There are simply so many stories.
Lol @ 47th minute talking about Rooster 🐓 🤣, I always stay at the Corner lodge Hotel which more or less backs onto the waste land where I believe the Roosters 🐓 are , then one morning after a late night on walking street me and a thai girl went on to the balcony when the Roosters started lol ... we were both cocka doodle doo noises to them, laughing hysterically😅 😅 ~ then around 1pm we went through the hotel reception and the receptionist said in thai to the thai lady please stop making Rooster noises so early lol ~ the receptionist actually made a Rooster noise, so I knew what they were talking about 😅 , I burst out laughing at that point. 😅
It's interesting hearing of them all talking about 'the early days'. I first came on holiday in March 1986. I only took 24 pictures as you did at that time. As far as I recall, you could cover the whole main heart of the town on foot well inside an hour. This is how I remember it.... which may be wrong... I DO remember going to 'Coral Island' (Koh Larn) and there was literally nothing there. We took a longboat with a car engine on the back, and a tin of petrol to fuel it. ie no H&S. It was also all really really really seedy. Almost anything went. The other day I watched a snippet of 'Lady Boys' - Scott & Paeng, and this is now 15 or so years ago... but even in the early 2000's, the snippets of the town showed it so much smaller than now.. with very few tall condo's. Most of these guys in the video moved in during these sorts of golden days. It is still cheaper than the 'West' even now... but not as it was. It was soooo cheap. Mind you, on the minus side, I remember in 1986, terrible smells of decaying rotting food on the streets was common.. presumably just rotting food waste? and the sewers. For me personally, the town was at its best in terms of being cleaned up and developed, but still cheap and so on with plenty of 'choices' ... on my trip in 2009. To some extent also in 2011 &12 & even 14. I think the pandemic and rise of social media apps combined to give 'the girls' a chance to completely re-asses. Now the 'night-life' is no longer 'cheap', and it is so much more commercialised. It is still an interesting town, but distant from the more basic beginnings. Also UA-cam provides this amazing option where you can almost vicariously live life there without actually being there. Great video guys.
Nice to see ET. Peaky blinders is the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in Thailand. Missed not seeing Dean. One of the most respected guys in Pattaya. Never heard a bad word said about him and always has great advice. Imo a must for every show.
Thanks for the updates I will be arriving back in Thailand pattya November 2023 for 3 weeks holiday I will be 55 next year retiring going to live in Thailand pattya
You know that an interview or presentation is very good when you forget the time and that it is a presentation Daz. You and Claudio definitely make a great team. The combined experience and knowledge shared is invaluable to anyone considering moving or retiring to Thailand. "Meet Up" is an excellent way to coordinate social get togethers. I have joined many enjoyable mountain and desert hikes with others from "Meet Up", and no I am not a paid endorser🤣. Claudio hit the nail on the head when he said the "E" word regarding the social situation outside of Thailand😂. Thanks to your guests for taking time to share their backgrounds, experiences, and advice! Cheers 🍻🍺
Very good episode. The part about where to live in Thailand really resonated because that’s the decision I’m facing. The comment that Pattaya has everything (high end, low end, xxx, whatever), and there are people of all types there, puts everything in perspective, that it’s not just the SEA sin city and has much to offer (while also being inexpensive, close to islands, close to Bangkok). The laugher around the table on questions about dating match my own experiences with Thai women!
I hope it does not change too much. Belize had sleepy little cays before the cruise ships and Major hotel chains started developing there. Leave Pattaya alone, and Thailand in general. It’s perfect. Will be retiring there in three weeks. ❤
Maybe next time if you have one or two newbies to Pattaya on the show, I’am sure it will be more relevant to your viewers! Good show with great nuggets of information from these long term residents!
Thanks for the video updates I have been traveling to Thailand for 20 years now I am retiring next year moving to pattya Thailand it is safer to live in Thailand than the UK.

Just heard your first Tit podcast. Interesting. Similar to others, eg, Every Man Has a Story, Thairish, etc. Suggestions. Interviewing 3 people in one hour is too superficial. Example, the German's visit to PI with too much spaghetti sounds like an error; maybe he meant too much rice. Example, live in Thailand on $25,000 USD annually sounds too low, pre-pandemic; but moving, setup, exploring costs included? Otherwise, I enjoy hearing others' perspective albeit skewed. Too heavy on Thailand promotion.
Like the content and advice. Been to Pattaya/Bangkok twice and Philippines a dozen times. I need advice how to transition to permanent residency in SE Asia and Jomtein is high on my list
What I would like to know , is how people went with there visas in the beginning...? 3 months come back ,go home come back ? And what type of visas did you get along the way over the years 1 year?
Hi Daz, It was great listening to the Podcast and I think the idea of having get togethers with other like minded people especially new to the country would be a great help in getting settled over there. One question as a person thinking of moving over there when not exactly retired is what can I do for a job? What are the prospects for work as a so called "Farang." Can I gain employment there?? I see most of your guests have retired or set up businesses there but what about just jobs?? Just a thought!! I am returning in October to be with my girlfriend who has just spent three months here with me in Australia.
I WANT TO GO CHECK OUT PATTAYA FOR A MONTH,, I LIVE IN LA USA. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT GETTING A VISA PASS PORT FOR A VISIT ??? i like your channel.
The problem with Thailand, as a well traveled foreigner in Asia, is that they keep changing the laws about visas! One day it’s this. The next day it’s that. Then all these complications. I had lived in Manila for eleven years. It’s much easier to get visas there. For foreigners. I bought a condo in Makati City and I was then entitled to a permanent resident card. An ICR card. Quota visa. It was great. A nice bonus for foreigners. I am able to then work, open a business if I want, etc. Didn’t have to marry a Filipino too! 👍😎 Thailand really needs to pull back on the obstacles to be able to live there. Otherwise foreigners will go somewhere else. Like the Philippines. The other added bonus of living in the Philippines was how most speaks fluent English. Everything is in English. Too. Much easier to communicate. Which is important of course.
As a regular Pattaya visitor from Scotland, I am seeing my country disappear with this government, I will be spending 3 months year in Thailand and working towards full retirement there in 3 years, the UK and Scotland are losing their golden goose and many equity rich want better value, Thailand gives that
Another excellent video, I could write so much but will refrain. As I mentioned before, all going well I am hopefully weeks away from becoming a permanent ex-pat but these videos have only endorsed my decision made much later than it should have been.
Been going to Pattaya for 39 years and been married to a thai lady for 33 years. I am retired now but would rather holiday there and not live there. The level of English proficiency in The Philippines is overrated. Most Filipino’s speak English, but it’s a second or third language for them, and while they will understand you, many really don’t want to use English, and only do so if they have to.

park that 400k in some mutual funds and you should be making 8% or so a year compounded...that would likely pay for Thailand annually itself.
