22:49 "Um hi there!" I think they were shocked by what you just did so they decided to abort their attempt and wait until you didn't have the power of the sun at your fingertips.
Man, if you want real life location photos in from Fallout, I live right where Honest Hearts goes down. You know that plane crashed into the hill in Honest Hearts? That's real. Crashed out there long way back.
"But on the plus side we might be able to take whatever you just discovered to do and apply it to Fisto" Jesus, Jon. Instant clenching effect. ...I suppose you're not wrong, though.
I ran into Victor at Camp McCarran at 1:23 AM while I was spying on Curtis. So imagine: crouched underneath an airplane wing waiting to spot the man letting NCR secrets out to the Legion and all the sudden from behind... *FANCY MEETING YOU HERE, FRIEND!* Then Curtis came up to me and since it was my first playthrough I didn't have enough speech so I had to wait another 24 hours. Thanks Victor...
Apologies to those who struggled to find this video - UA-cam is currently suffering a major issue where subscription feeds aren't being updated, and there's nothing I can do until UA-cam gets it fixed. The only thing I can recommend is, if you're a subscriber, you can click the cog next to the 'subcribed' button above, and ask UA-cam to send notifications when I release new videos, which is at least reliable. Alternatively, I announce all new releases on Twitter and Reddit (links in the description). Hopefully UA-cam will sort this out soon anyway.
30:29 He probably forgot, but in the first episode or two he mentioned that he wouldn't put any more points into medicine. He was going to rely exclusively on survival for HP regen.
The best way to play New Vegas is actually Melee/Unarmed + Survival. The recipe is rather straightforward: Thick red paste/Black blood sausage (Them's Good Eatin) + Rad child + Piercing Strike + Slayer + Paralyzing Palm (optional) + Unstoppable Force + Super Slam! + Ninja (optional, for shits and giggles). You are not only essentially immortal, but also unstoppable. There is only two dangerous locations for this build: Long 15 and Dry Wells :-)
Well, another bonus of having high Luck is that you can clean house in the casinos. And, if you do Dead Money, you can get an insane amount of pre-war money and sell it for insane amounts of caps.
At 32:25 there's sum grass in the bottom left corner that made me think a bug landed on my phone, then it disappeared and i thought it was coming at my face so i flinched
17:33 Aren't Protectrons like Robobrains supposed to consist of some sort of organic tissue? Atleast that's what's implied by some files in Fallout 3 (if I remember correctly) and that's a bit what it looks like when you blast them and there are red, meaty wires inside...
Did you know hidden valley and the bunkers are not fictional as well? I was driving on the highway to vegas, the one that in the world of new vegas passes through sloan, and we came past a sign that said hidden valley with exit to it. It was pretty cool.
+Rockinrock28 Everything but Vaults and the strip casinos don't exist. Freeside, Old Mormon Fort, Devil's Throat, Bitter Springs, Camp Golf, Ski Resort at Jacobstown, Jean Sky Diving, Searchlight, those trailers at Cottonwood Cove, etc. Did you really not know that those places were real?
I think most places in new vegas are based loosely off of real things such as how in helios one, freeside is another name for Fremont street in las vegas and north vegas square is based upon the real life north vegas ghetto, (I have family there and it is, from a primary source, not much nicer then what is seen in new vegas), while red rock canyon is a state park and nellis air force base is also located nearby.
You kind of can - cause enough chaos (like most Yes Man endings say) while leaving the Brotherhood alive, and in the end cards, it's confirmed the Brotherhood retae Helios One.
+Many A True Nerd Dear Mr. True Nerd, A note on the difference between a clip and a magazine; a clip can be generally described as a device that holds cartridges for ease of loading into a firearm (google image search "Stripper clip" for further reference). Whereas a magazine is a part of a firearm that allows cartridges to be fed into the breech. Most contemporary firearms use a detachable box magazine, where the actual spring-fed mechanism of the firearm can be removed and another can be replaced for a rapid reload. Also, the feeding mechanism of a revolver is called "the cylinder", as you expressed curiosity in the past. -Yours sincerely, Joe
Hey Jon, I've subscribe to your channel during your Fallout 3 Kill everything run, and I just wanted to say thanks for the countless hours of entertainment. You are a bloody genius! Great flippin work!
Just a little fun fact about Slash from Pokémon you mentioned, Slash didn't get nerfed after gen 1, criticals in general did. Chance to crit in gen one was based on speed, and slash had a higher crit ratio, so fast Pokémon using Slash only had a 0.04% chance of NOT getting a critical. After gen 1 they changed crits to not be determined by speed, but slash still has a higher crit ratio. Now you know something you never needed to lol
Yup, last playthrough of NV I also went full-on Luck/Crits build and it's nutty how good it is. I even rushed Honest Hearts so I could snag Joshua Graham's armor (+3% crit and it's just flat so it works if your Luck is already 10), which incidentally is *also* light armor meaning it stacks with the Light Touch (another +5%...) perk... What's funny is light armor and the other light armor perks *additionally* synergize incredibly well with sneaking/sniping, so it's not even hard to combine the two strongest playstyles in the game into a single unstoppable spectre of death, and the vast majority of the build works for literally any other playstyle as well (crits are still good for any weapon, extra movement speed is arguably just as important as DR for melee, etc.).
+Many A True Nerd I hope you do the Gomorrah quest Bye Bye (baby or love? I forget) that's a fun quest and my favorite special check in the game which is strength 8
@22:45 You're right! I was completely surprised by the Legionary Assassins that were so awed by your fireworks, they just had to take a moment and marvel at your handiwork.
The solar plant in real life is having loads of issues. It was extremely expensive to make and is very inefficient because the mirrors are boiling water to create energy, while solar panels have gotten to the point where they would've been a lot more efficient.
I actually think its synthetic oil in a loop which during the peek of a very sunny day can provide enough power to carry the local places. Thanks modern marvels ;)
Jon, as an American today, I just wanted to let you know how much your videos mean to me. As I know you've tweeted, tragedy is just a common theme here it seems like, and I just want to say that being able to come home and just distract myself and be filled with good laughs while I watch your videos it is more than I can ask for. So thank you for all the content you produce and how I can always count on you to be the best UA-camr I've subscribed to.
I've been to the ElDorado lake bed and it does look quite beautiful from the lake bed. As a resident of Westside, I can confirm that most of the settlements and facilities are real, even though New Vegas is smaller than Klamath Falls. Las Vegas, on the other hand, is much larger than in-game.
Those are actually a pretty common type of solar plant in areas where there's the space to do it. Some use a large photovoltaic device in the center (easier to maintain a few hundred mirrors and one large device, rather than hundreds of small photovoltaic devices), but older ones actually bounce the light down from the tower, where it's used to boil water to run a generator. They're a source of controversy, as some argue that the environmental benefits are somewhat muddied by the fact that they'll vaporize birds that fly by. They call them 'streamers', as they burst into flame and fall about twenty feet or so, usually never making it to the ground. Add to this the fact that birds are naturally drawn to the highest point on the horizon...
22:46 Was the moment during my first play-through of New Vegas that I fell in love with this game. Having just armed the ARCHIMEDES Plant Defense System and obliterated the NCR troops stationed there, I felt like the untouchable god of the Mojave. Two seconds later, the Legionary Assassins showed up and dethroned my sorry ass by killing me.
Is it possible to tell the brotherhood about the ARCHIMEDES II weapon before finishing the Lucky Old Sun quest? I know ELijah knew about it, but no one else did.
The Brotherhood of Steal companion has a quest where you get a laser designator that can call down an Orbital strike down on a location basicly it works like Minutemen Flares and the Arty but can only use it once per day and during daylight hours
The two mines on the right, aren't so hard to get, but the one on the left is the one that you almost always can't disarm. There's at least one mod I know of that sets those three shepherds in the chainlink to be allied properly, so they won't attack if you're there normally. Cannot recall the name. That third Robot in the tower can be a Gutsy, Robobrain, or if you're especially high level, a Sentry Bot. IE do it at low level. Instead of grenades, I use GRA pulse slugs in here. If you have Arcade with you when you fire the space laser, he up and quits and tosses down any armor you've given him. Victor spawns near the train station on the north side of town.
Shot Glass mod is a must. Shot glasses are the only item with inconsistent capitalization in that game. All the mod does is change "Shot glass" to "Shot Glass"
The textures from the German Shepherds are cut content from Fallout 3. They had originally planned to make Dad a GS in Tranquility Lane, but they didn't for some reason, despite the textures being there.
Jon, the Wizard of Oz reference goes a bit deeper since Caesar shares a lot of his backstory with the Wizard. They both found themselves, proverbially, not in Kansas but both managed to get by on sheer bullshit allowing them to bootstrap their way to prestige. The funny thing is House being the Wizard of Oz was *completely* lost on me until you pointed it out.
Pretty much everything in New Vegas is based off real locations. Black Mountain, Mount Charleston, Searchlight, Red Rock Canyon, Sloan, Cottonwood Cove, Nipton, even Callville Bay. I cannot find Novac on Google maps, so that's probably fictional. They probably created Novac because of the whole American West big fake dinosaur stereotype thing. What I found interesting is that in Primm, there's a casino called Buffalo Bill's, with a roller coaster. Which is of course in the Fallout universe Bison Steve. And there's a place called the Pioneer Saloon in real life Goodsprings. And I'm not certain, but I've thought before that the Lucky 38 is based off Stratosphere, a similar casino/resort tower on one end of the Strip.
I once found that a Legion assassin group followed me INTO THE DIVIDE, so as I was about to 360noscope some marked men, they just were like, "RAWR CEASER SALAD NO LIKEY YOU!" and attacked me, didn't end well for them
Living in Las Vegas I can tell you that power plant is a nice bird killer. It isn't pleasant for flying creatures to fly in the path of that reflected light. I believe the actual power plant uses some kind of molten liquid to transfer the heat, and after that I believe it may be just a regular steam plant (similar to what I worked on in the Navy, in our case we used U-235 to produce the heat). No super weapon from space unfortunately. edit: I stand corrected after looking it up. It looks to generate steam directly at 550C. This would be more efficient of course. I am curious if the turbines are located at the top...
I love Helios 1, just the amount of interactivity is amazing; though one gripe I do have is that if you don't destroy the Brotherhood's bunker but kill the leaders and have the legion take control. It is not taken in account that they are there when the end slide appears.
Dunno Jon, I remember dealing with robots of Helios fairly easily with plasma weapons, probably since a little hole in a hull won't do much unless hitting specific things(or won't penetrate at all), while plasma will just melt chunks of it with bits inside. Yes, I do believe that there is that damage multiplier for specific ammo vs specific target.
So I haven't watched through all of these so I don't know if it's already happened but. Mod suggestion: weapon animation replaces. It's a purely aesthetic mod that comes with multiple options for new weapon animations for you to use. The best thing about this is that it has options to change how all characters hold pistols. (The default animation for holding pistols out at the hip genuinely annoys me.) You can also aim all one handed weapons with one hand if you want. Change how you hold rifles and assault rifles, and just generally make it look more appealing. Another mod suggestion, light up and smoke those cigarettes. This one turns cigarette packs into aid items and you can open them to find actual cigarettes, which you can actually smoke. They give you some bonuses but it's best feature is the aesthetic part and the role play possibilities.
Jon, when I did this quest the other day I had no problem with the terminal with the dogs. I can't remember if the dogs weren't hostile or there weren't any dogs. Do you know what happened differently or if it was a glitch?
I believe the top of the tower contains liquid sodium and the mirrors reflect sunlight onto it and heats the sodium which is used to boil water to form steam that is used to turn turbines that generate electricity.
Dear Jon, ilike your current New Veags let's play but I miss the old times. I was excited each sunday beacuse of your uploads. This New Vegas run is in my oppinion not as thrilling or entertaining as the Kill everything/YOLO runs. Don't understand me wrong: you are still my favorite let's player. But please.. I beg you to make a Fallout 4 kill everything.
a fallout 4 kill everything is basically a play through. everybody is essential till you do their quests kinda takes all the evil Jon ness if you have to actually help somebody who will do little to nothing for you
just realized that it is weird that Rivas ends up dead if the legion takes Helios, since he's a Follower of the Apocalypse, and Caesar gives them free passage due to his previous life
Along the same vein as your Helios comment - the textures look wrong. The curved "things" surrounding the central boiler seem to be textured as solar panels. That's not what they are. In RL, they're mirrors. They're aimed to reflect the sun onto the upper sphere. The heat melts salt (!) which is pumped around to boil water and create electricity. That being said, I don't think FNV does "mirrrors", and even if it did - that many would kill the framerate :-)
Nice episode as always Jon! On another note, I don't think you're aware of this, but Lucky and That Gun actually have the same critical hit chance and damage too! Although only Lucky is obviously Lucky ahahah
22:49 "Um hi there!" I think they were shocked by what you just did so they decided to abort their attempt and wait until you didn't have the power of the sun at your fingertips.
They probably thought he was literally the God Sol
The legionary assassins waiting behind you just killed me.
"...Hi, lads!"
It had me bloody rolling, how more hilarious NV random combined with Jon can be? xD
You, sir, have just committed murder. You killed me through asphyxiation.
(Manslaughter)
Alexbattledust that was awesome
would've been funny if getting legion fame was a special case there since they'd actually have a reason to know about it
Man, if you want real life location photos in from Fallout, I live right where Honest Hearts goes down. You know that plane crashed into the hill in Honest Hearts? That's real. Crashed out there long way back.
That's really cool
I know I'm late, but do you happen to know where that plane is?
Brand Stoker really? is there a photo or wikipedia page?
yeah any pic or info about it ?
What?! Really? Dude I need photos! Haha

Jon, just as a random thing, I recommend you get EVE Essential visual enhancements, it's a good mod that does stuff to particles.
It's wierd that the videos show up first on my front page and not on my feed
Its ok dad I forgive you.
P.s Why did you leave us Jon? We miss you
i couldnt even find it on your channel had to go through twitter
I just went to your channel because I love this series :D

where's Fantasticov?
+Sean O' Donoghue the name of the scientist at Helios one
StormBrewer23 Ik.... I thought you were making a reference nvm.
+Sean O' Donoghue I was I just saw what you did there my bad
+StormBrewer23 Thank you... I thought it was quite funny
3:15 That quote... Goddamn I miss the Obsidian writers for Fallout 4...
10:27 More like 'nice and SINGLE'... Because it litterally wasn't simple!
15:30 And it's just like using Slash again in Gen 6 on a Pokemon with the ability Super Luck holding a Scope Lens!

"obsidian writers for fallout 4" please tell me you're joking

Westside is also real, I live roughly near the sunset sarsaparilla headquarters...
I absolutely loved the Fisto joke at 18:05, so non-chalant but hilarious.
I always hoped you could retake Helios one for the Brotherhood, since they originally lost control of that place.
You kind of can - cause enough chaos (like most Yes Man endings say) while leaving the Brotherhood alive, and in the end cards, it's confirmed the Brotherhood retae Helios One.

Dear Mr. True Nerd,
A note on the difference between a clip and a magazine; a clip can be generally described as a device that holds cartridges for ease of loading into a firearm (google image search "Stripper clip" for further reference).

22:47 Bit of an AlChestBreach moment there
What if Alchestbreach and Jon made a video together? That would be great.
+Nate_2134 HE REALLY SHOULD. That would be amazing as fuck.
+HangoverAnkka
Look up LoneWander. He had a collab with everyone.
+noah kaner Thanks friend :)
7:39 - I get the feeling that MATN would've got shot by that rigged rifle if he did this on his YOLO run
22:47 I just love the surprise and worry in your voice

You're better than ASMR when it comes to sleep aid. Thanks.
Jon I can tell you've been playing a lot of fallout 4 because about 8 mins in to get in 3rd person you pressed the wait button
I do it all the time :D
+Many A True Nerd I hope you do the Gomorrah quest Bye Bye (baby or love? I forget) that's a fun quest and my favorite special check in the game which is strength 8
I love how when Dr. Hildern at McCarran, he actually believes that Fantastic was the one who fixed Helios One.
I hope you know, You are one of my favorite and one of the Best youtubers on this website in my opinion. You should have much more subscribers.
Jon, with all the chaos and impending dread in America lately, I am really enjoying new episodes of MaTN lately. Helps take my mind off things.
@22:45 You're right! I was completely surprised by the Legionary Assassins that were so awed by your fireworks, they just had to take a moment and marvel at your handiwork.
The ammo counter at 23:48 reflect what he had done at that time
8:48 did that guy just do a Crash Bandicoot "Woah!"?

I like to think that the Legion Assassins saw what you did to the NCR and decided that you were "busy". That is why they did not attack Jon.
Er... Why did that texture mod insist on surrounding Helios with photovoltaic panels instead of mirrors? THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS.
This was made 3 years ago wtf it feels like it's only been a few months since I watched this for the first time
I forgot how new vegas worked for a second because my brain said "He should upgrade his luck if he wants more criticals"
Lol
18:10 - "... and apply it to FISTO."
- Daddy? What's a FISTO?
- Ummm... ask your Mother.
Thanks for making my days brighter Jon.
Those legion assassins just watched you gleefully obliterate the NCR with a laser from space, and are totally unsure what they should do now.
Jon, as an American today, I just wanted to let you know how much your videos mean to me. As I know you've tweeted, tragedy is just a common theme here it seems like, and I just want to say that being able to come home and just distract myself and be filled with good laughs while I watch your videos it is more than I can ask for. Technically you can get it without doing the companion quest.
It really is a very great game that captures the jorney to vegas, I love that Primm is in the game.
22:52 You were suddenly in an Alchestbreach video.
Birthday brigade/party patrol doesn't play favorites among youtubers!
+Osmosis Jones Nor the Breach Doctrine.
I love your new armour, really looks like the classic Doom Marine armour.
I love how speech in this game feels like Jedi Mind Tricks. It is so ridiculously powerful.
In Fallout 1 and 2, speech just "unlocked" more dialogue options, and made certain things have different outcomes, depending on your skill.
***** Yeah, though i usually lower the level cap to compensate.

Jon, are you going to do a video on the remastered Skyrim announcement thingamajig?
Jon, Where do Squirrel bits come from? I've yet to see a single Squirrel in game. Do enlighten us.
Those dogs at the controls always confused me. Why are they there? Why doesn't the NCR care about them?
Anyone here in 2019? Reliving the story through a giant fallout geek?
peter weitzman i’m actually just nearing to the end of my first run on new vegas
So I haven't watched through all of these so I don't know if it's already happened but. Mod suggestion: weapon animation replaces.
It's a purely aesthetic mod that comes with multiple options for new weapon animations for you to use. The best thing about this is that it has options to change how all characters hold pistols. (The default animation for holding pistols out at the hip genuinely annoys me.)
You can also aim all one handed weapons with one hand if you want.
23:34 Just wiped out the NCR lol fitting ammo count Jon
His spawn location is near the railroad tracks at that building that looks like it has a coal tower near it, though I don't think it's a coal tower.
Jon, when I did this quest the other day I had no problem with the terminal with the dogs. I can't remember if the dogs weren't hostile or there weren't any dogs. Do you know what happened differently or if it was a glitch?
Didn't think you'd still have to pay bills after a nuclear apocalypse.
Great series so far!!! Keep it up
I believe the top of the tower contains liquid sodium and the mirrors reflect sunlight onto it and heats the sodium which is used to boil water to form steam that is used to turn turbines that generate electricity.
Dont usually watch this series but due to youtubes fuckery with subs ensured to seek this one out.
100 + Hours in New Vegas never even knew there was bar in Boulder City, let alone another NPC
NUKA WORLD DLC CONFIRMED, OH THE HYPE!
When you were reloading, it looks like lucky has a shamrock on the grip. Which is a nice little detail.
22:50 uh-oh looks like the party brigade has arrived
That fridge at 3:31 Says Frigidaire, an actual fridge company. That's interesting.
I love that I found your channel you're amazing!
Still hate you can't be a bad person
a fallout 4 kill everything is basically a play through. everybody is essential till you do their quests kinda takes all the evil Jon ness if you have to actually help somebody who will do little to nothing for you
+Jaxson Kilgore and then murder them instead of doing it outright
it is worse than fo 3 but minnitmen is plain out invincible
You can't kill everything in Fallout 4, it'd be like doing a kill everything on Skyrim
huh I wonder if the brotherhood would actually reclaim helios one with it being run by the legion
When i did this in NV, after alligning helios, an archemedes blast randomly killed all of the NCR and spawned a few molerats
You should more Dark Souls. WE ALL WANT IT!!!!!!
i could have sworn the legion shoot me on sight before dealing with benny once hated/villified.
That might have been my photo. I think I sent it a while ago. I went to goodsprings as well. Fun times.
"Science is wonderful" jon gushes about a real military science base that could be working on a space laser of death like in game
just realized that it is weird that Rivas ends up dead if the legion takes Helios, since he's a Follower of the Apocalypse, and Caesar gives them free passage due to his previous life
should've set the power to Archimedes, a super weapon could come in handy and it only needs a pistol so it would work for weight.
Jon you should always have your crit damage and chance as high as possible when you make a rifle build.
That FISTO joke at 18:09 xDDD
i fell of my chair laughing
Nice episode as always Jon! On another note, I don't think you're aware of this, but Lucky and That Gun actually have the same critical hit chance and damage too! Although only Lucky is obviously Lucky ahahah
