It's funny how negatives for one can mean positives for another. The man complained about the "side activity" and I laughed like a fool at every note and every NPC scene. I literally hate reading notes in all games, but this game is an exception. Immediately, thanks to humor and references, I literally looked into every corner. In truth, everything is too subjective and it is always necessary to clarify this. Players should understand this when they looking at another review of the player for whom the game is liked / disliked by his purely personal things.
Yeah, I was honestly surprised at how much I ended up loving the dialogue and writing in this game since the trailer had me thinking it'd be one those things I never think about again. Everything in this game just oozes charm and i'm still in shock that a game like this even exists.
it also put me to think a little on how in the video is described as something that takes too much time and sometimes hinders the pace. Saying how he was waiting for a second run where he wouldn't worry about the side stuff but... why exactly? If you don't like the side stuff and feel like they stop the action, why doing them in the first run where you just want to blast through the story and enjoy the pure action? They actually don't hinder the gameplay if you don't care, and if you care, then you are taking things in your own pace and enjoy them nonetheless.
I love that the devs stated that Hi Fi Rush was influenced by Edgar Wright movies cause you can see it in the humor and dialogue, it felt like the Scott Pilgrim comics and film thrown together with DMC and god damn does it work beautifully
I’m really glad you enjoyed Hi-Fi Rush because I’m honestly with you with how it’s annoying that most other action games always seem to want RPG elements squeezed in as to give the illusion of depth. Which is why I usually always stick to DMC, Bayo, Wonderful 101 and so on. I’m just glad that Tango understood how to make something as pure as Itsuno or Kamiya would :D
I'm happy to see somebody else noticed that part about the game teaching you how to combo. It was something I was thinking about after playing it. It really made me want a fighting game to somehow take this and incorporate it to teach players how to combo in that genre too. It's such a powerful tool and I think it would really help demystify a bunch of perceived complexity within the genre. When you compare it to existing tutorials they seem so extremely lacking, like they're completely missing the point or something.
This game literally came out of nowhere and ate Bayo 3 and Forspoken's lunch. Everything about Chai is Viola done right and the cast of characters are all that early Capcom/Platinum love and personality, plus both of the OSTs of this game are great.
If Hi-Fi Rush ate the lunch of Bayo 3 and Forspoken, then it sits on the table opposite of its more moody and serious, but still fun cousin Soulstice. (hack-and-slash game that came out around last year. Got its issues and harder to recommend than Hi-Fi Rush in comparison, but it's clear that a lot of love and effort had gone into that one as well).
@@Ravensgalewhat you said it just stupid. To compare a game like Bayonetta that came out 5 months ago to a game like hi-fi rush that came out last month.
I'm honestly in awe that this game is real. Every new perspective I hear on it further cements it as so head and shoulders above the competition it's mind-boggling. Your perspective has only strengthened that, and introduced new things that are incredible about it that I hadn't heard before.
After suffering through both the modern god of wars its nice to have a real character action game with skill rewarded dynamic gameplay, actual platforming, tight responsive controls, and doesn't waste your time. Not felt this since the original god of wars or devil may cry
Ill admit i never used the beat to hit enemies but only listened for dodging and the parry to the beat which helped me a-ton in very hard as my first story completion lol.
I honestly cannot imagine just how proud the developers of this game are with themselves... and rightfully so. They have made a genuine masterpiece, and didn't even tell anyone about it. It just showed up, and absolutely exploded. GG developers, G, fuckin, G.
I'm kind of blown away that you played this with mouse and keyboard. The thought has never even entered my mind to attempt to play a spectacle fighter without a controller. That said, you seem to be doing well with it so I guess it's totally viable. Maybe because the game is so good at every turn.
I think this is the first video from you that I am watching. I checked your channel and I must say I am intrigued by your concept about the 'first five hours' haha. Definitely subscribing and seeing how it goes.
as a counterpoint experience- on normal or hard difficulty, as an average skilled player, i was able to skip pretty much all the optional collectathoning and still had a delightful time with enough money for upgrades! i'd definitely recommend playing that way first and then going back later after if you want
A game about music that has a selection of amazing licensed tracks, but instead of phoning it in with its streamer mode like Guardians of the Galaxy it instead composed an entire separate soundtrack with its own set of bangers. No laziness to be seen here.
Just like Materwelonz said "Hifi Rush doesn't punish you for sucking. But it REWARD you for doing better". Nad I think that's the reason why the rhytmn mechanic in this game is still fun and easy to understand 😁
5:32 - As a person who CANNOT beat the 1st boss in BPM (Bullets Per Minute) to the beat, how important is the whole rhythm thingy in this game?? (note: I can beat the game otherwise no problem with every character)
Helpful to have some rhythm but definitely not required. Staying on rhythm means you do more damage but there are even upgrades to help you be off beat for a bit and still get the bonus so its pretty accessible!
I think it depends on how much of a challenge you're looking for. Easier difficulties are much more lenient with the rhythm aspect, but it also scales down your opposition. I don't think there's a way to make the rhythm half easier while keeping the action side scaled challengingly.
love this game, but on a side note, what the hell is up with Chai's ankles? can people actually _be_ that skinny, or am i right to think his legs look kinda freaky? bro looks like his ankles could snap any moment
Bayo 3 was quite disappointing to be honest, I really hated the latter half of the game and the summons honestly made more of the fights more automatic than they should be.
Its an actual GOTY, gem, absolute certified banger
I’m half agreed with your opinion, but since we just started 2023, who knows maybe another surprise will make us think again XD (no harsh feeling)
Agree, game should be played like games, not mental state exam
I totally agree since games this days became more of a chore then a game
Preach

Looking at you FF16.
Very glad that Assault Spy was the same way and had a classic Spectacle Fighter power-up progression with no BS RPG elements.
This game isn't just a gem, its the whole damn jewelry store
It's the whole damn african emerald mine
Except for that one very vertical level, I don't find the side activities that tedious. This game is def a must buy, it's currentlyy game of the year
Those big enemies don't actually force you into the parry chain, you can parry the initiating shockwave and kill them normally.

Hi Fi Rush was absolutely joyful. I’m glad you’re feeling good!
I don’t think the side content bogs it down too much since its all entirely optional. Dont want look around for upgrades? Bu them at the store!
It's great to see a game like this that's just pure fun and great gameplay!

The fuck you mean it ate Bayonetta lunch?! Bayonetta 3 release last October and hi-fi rush came out what last month?
@@Xenobladeplayer60 As far as character action games. Think longer than not at all next time.

Played this game for 14 hours, honestly as a DMC completionist, this game is baller
Damn this looks EXTREMELY my jam.
The way the gameplay switched to 2d animation so seamlessly was great
This game really hits that sweet spot in terms of creativity and budget that was much more common in the PS2 era.
The fact that it can compete with other great games that just released like pizza tower just goes to show how fun and entertaining it can be.
10:44 was that a power rangers rpm reference tho?

Ooo this one looks fun! Love the aesthetic they went with in this game too. Thanks for another great review and I am glad you had fun with it!
Just bought this, can't wait to start playing!
This game is the most fun I ever had since DMC5
game is a 9 out 10... one thing the game needs is a target lock on.
calling in a partner and them attacking the wrong enemy is a tad annoying.
just face the enemy you want them to target, it is basically lock on.
@Malpheus
Yes I'm aware of how it works, but still with a kingdom hearts like lock on, it would be so much better.
Fair, yeah

Did you play nobody saves the world? I think that one might scratch that itch as well
I swear, if this doesn't get GOTY, I have officially lost faith in humanity
Have you played Metal Hellsinger?
i love the aesthetic of this game
Jsab compliment ❤
This game is 10/10 because of Korsica

Thanks for the vid
0:47 JUST SHAPES AND BEATS MENTIONED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most fun I've had in a beat em up. More than any DMC or Bayonetta game. It's an easy 10/10!
I'm surprised this game is exclusive. They'd probably be racking in double or even triple if it was on open platforms.
love this game, but on a side note, what the hell is up with Chai's ankles? can people actually _be_ that skinny, or am i right to think his legs look kinda freaky? bro looks like his ankles could snap any moment
He's not supposed to be realistically proportioned, if you look carefully at the game, you'll notice it's cell-shaded and very stylized.
If only the parry tutorial was not so frustrating, It will be my 10/10 game of the ages. But that lower it to... 9.999999999/10.
Someone definitely hasn't played God of War. Or Bayonetta 3.
Or dmc 5

2/10…
Doesn’t mention Corporate Ver…… I mean Kale
(I kid, I kid. I’m glad you enjoy the game my brotha)
If it weren't for those "glorious 30 fps", I would try it already. :P
