I assume CIG are still planning on getting rid of all armistice zones, but as Tomato says, there will still be safe zones controlled by NPCs. However, there's no point getting rid of armistice zones prematurely, before the servers can handle the NPC policing of the system, and reputation is fully implemented, as it would be chaos.

I think we've already seen the reduction of armistice zones. It used to be that you couldn't shoot any ship weapons around stations and right before Port olisar was decommissioned you could drop bombs on people's ships as they were spawning. Even around seraphin station. You can still shoot at things in the armistice zone. It just prompts station security to start shooting at you back. I don't mind the reduction of these green areas if the appropriate level of security exists to replace it.
Also, when it comes to bounty hunting I would love to see a system where players with a crime step can still move freely in and out of cities. Maybe once you get crimestop 4 or five? You need someone to smuggle you in. But it would be great to see a system where the bounty Hunter gets an update to say that this player has been spotted in hurston. You go there and have four access and use of your weapons because you have a good reputation with the bounty hunters guild. The player with the crime stack has to figure out how to smuggle in A knife or a handgun in a jacket maybe? Or maybe visit a black market dealer in the city to get something to defend themselves?
Maybe this also leads to , as death of the spaceman develops, the idea of a bounty surrendering rather than being incapacitated or killed.
With a lot of speculation in Star citizen, there's a lot that's possible, but most of it is locked down by the limitations of the engine. Until we see what's possible in a tier zero, it's hard to really know what the future might look like.

Once reputation and consequences are actually in game I think many armistice zones will greatly lessen. Think of Nassau during the time that pirates controlled it, yes it was lawless but if you were a madman the pirate crews banished you.

I say 'no' to a player-owned station in Pyro, but a tentative 'yes' to ones in future lawless systems. As a system run by groups of gangs, I can't see them allowing such a volatile situation of shifting org control in Pyro.
As for armistice zones, the only reason I see for CIG to retain armistice zones is because they don't think they'll be able to achieve the proper game balance to make areas of high safety. But with improved NPC AI, spawn closets, and shifting player status to make downed players the rule and full dead the exception, I don't believe it should be difficult for the game engine to create a heavy handed response of shutting down attacking players, and assisting downed players in relatively short order wherever CIG deems an area needs to be the pinnacle of safety.
Not 100% safe, but 99.999% safe. But a dedicated infiltration team, that is well prepared with specific goals and tactical strategy can accomplish an attack, heist, or PvP objective, but with high risk and severe penalty if they're caught or downed. And such incidents should be so rare, simply due to the effort of attempting to pull it off, that most players would be unlucky to run into such a scenario even once.

Exploring in Pyro could be really good in the outlying places far from the hornet nests. Still risky but if the rewards are worth it I can see myself doing that.

Safe zones are necessary in specific places. Outside of those. You are at risk. It’s how it’s been. Why would it be a discussion now?

Well, you'd have to watch the video to find that out blendy. That's how this works.

Some areas yes. In my opinion there are too many. I think it's dumb that there are safe zones on the planets.

@@DarkKnight-bu4xu safe zones to a degree in area’s controlled by UEE sure. Outside of that, no. And we have examples of that. Like brios. But not every station is safe or at least shouldn’t be. And (currently) you can still disable coms and have your way. But all of that is a placeholder for just ONE system. When there’s 3 or 8 more. I’m sure that will change dramatically

(edit: as a longtime viewer any idea why this comment is getting shadowblocked?)
As a delicate snowflake can I request Safezone's be upgraded into Safe Spaces? This means these locations additionally get Profanity filters, auto-mute when people raise their voice above a certain decibel (ie you gotta use your library voice), and most importantly extreme political correctness is enforced. #VAG (Value added Gameplay) will be upgraded into #GAG (Government Authorized Gameplay)!!!
    /sarcasm

Yes, things like holding a station are for large organizations. People fail to understand CIG recognized these things extremely early on and created, wait for it.... Affiliations!!!!! Quit bitching (those that do) and be an Affiliate to a large Org.
