I bought a used 1UP. I don't have the wrench Or key to tighten the shaft ball that secures the rack into the hitch sleeve. Is there a tool that can work or socket? I'm afraid of damaging it. It took me 3 years to find a decent deal on this.

This is a great question, and thank you for asking. I assume so because I own the L'ectric cargo bike, which works fine with that. I'm just sticking it down on a different point of the tire.
The idea that some 'special' allen key is some sort of theft protection is ridiculous. So easy to get one of the keys walk around a parking lot looking for a 1Up and whip that bad boy off in 10s. Kinda pissed when I bought my HD 1Up that they no longer put the plate with a vertical hole where you can put a lock across the head of the allen bolt on the hitch bar.

However, I can't rightfully address your second grievance, as I am not an employee of 1UP and have nothing to do with design changes. As for the first part of your feedback, the security Allen bolt is meant to be a deterrent, not a silver bullet against theft. I'm willing to bet most thieves are not carrying around a safety Allen key, let alone the proper size to fit this particular bolt. Though I will concede that it wouldn't be difficult to acquire. But based on your argument about why it would be ineffective, why lock your bike? Any thief with bolt cutters or a grinder could cut the cable/lock and be off in 10 seconds. Isn’t the HD 65lbs not 50lbs?
David, you are correct, the HD does support up to 65 lbs per tray. If we said 50 lbs, that is an error. Thank you for pointing that out.
